This place is amazing, peaceful and calm. You can hear the whales at night. Andre is a really nice host and we had everything we needed to feel at home. We would definitely want to come back someday ☺
This little house is in a great location for relaxing and for outdoor activities. You can go whale watching with a walk of less than five minutes to the harbour. There are quiet beaches and hikes with spectacular views within a half hour drive. The house itself is charming, clean, and well-stocked with kitchen supplies for preparing food. Andre is friendly and helpful. I would be very happy to stay here again!
Andre's Cottage...what a wonderful place to stay! St. Margaret (email hidden). Lawrence is peaceful, quirky and charming! We loved it! The location of Bay St. Lawrence is a little "off road" from the Cabot Trail but we couldn't have been happier with our choice of places to spend a couple of nights! It's a fantastic "home base" for so many little hidden gems of places to visit, like Meat Cove, The Tiddles (sp?) at White Point, even Dingwall and so many other little hamlets. We loved the sense of community when shopping at the village Co-op too!
Sitting on hill, the view from Andre's cottage was spectacular no matter if the sun was shining or the fog was creeping it's way into the harbour! You can see down to the harbour, across Deadman's Pond and pretty much the rest of the village from Andre's yard and most of the front windows! The back side of the cottage gives you a view of the hills. It's all lovely all around.
The cottage itself gave us more than enough space to spread out and relax, everything was clean, tidy and well equipped. The beds were comfortable and it is so quiet up there that it's easy to fall asleep. However, before you tuck yourself in bed...go outside and look up...the stars are spectacular! If you are lucky like we were, you will also hear the sound of the whales calling each other...such a thrill for us!
If you are looking for a modern, slick, more of a ``high end`` hotel type cottage this is not the place for you. This cottage will make you feel like you've stepped into your grandmother's house with décor that makes you feel warm, cozy and welcomed. It's a place you can relax and feel comfortable for sure and as I mentioned earlier it has everything you'll need! The door was unlocked when we arrived so no problem checking ourselves in!
When we arrived in the village we stopped in at The Bay Café (opened for breakfast and lunch only) for a delicious bowl of homemade chowder and a biscuit before going to the cottage. We were hoping to have dinner at The Hut but it was closed the day we were there (open for dinner only). We were able to pick up (email hidden)-op near Neil's Harbour and brought them back to the cottage. If you have the chance, grab a coffee and cinnamon bun, scone and/or chocolate energy bar from Danela's, go for it! That was an Andre recommendation and a very good one! :)
We appreciated Andre stopping in to greet us and see if we needed anything or had any questions. He's a lovely gentleman with great stories to tell...a real fountain of information! We really enjoyed meeting and chatting with him!
If we were fortunate enough to tour the Cabot Trail again, I would definitely, without hesitation, stay at Andre's Cottage again!
Thank You Andre for the opportunity!
Very Cosy spacious place to stay; I wish I could have stayed longer. Comfy beds, clean space; I instantly felt at home at this place and couldn't find a thing to complain about if I had to.
What a delightful stopover! Could have easily stayed longer -- the house was very comfortable and the host has fully equipped it to be a home away from home. Amazing scenery!
This is a very beautiful cottage with a spectacular view. Andre took the time to come and see us and it made our stay even more like home. If you are an outdoor person ,this is the place to go. This was my first time on Cabot trail and WOW! Big thank you .Chantal
The house was in a great location with an awesome view. Everything was provided for us to have a great stay. Thanks!
