Basement room with private bathroom. There is a queen size bed in it.
Wireless internet, ironing board and laundry available! Easy parking on street.
I have two bedrooms in the house. Both have queen size beds in them but only the basement has its own private bathroom.
2 Blocks away from Johns Hopkins Bayview Campus. ~10mins away from Downtown Baltimore, Inner Harbor and the Convention Center. A Block away from bus line.
Transportation to the House:
Airport: It takes ~20 mins from bwi, and it cost $17-22/pp with shuttle and $35 with limo service. I dont suggest the airport taxi because it cost $45-60.
Bus Station: It takes 5 mins from Baltimore Travel Plaza, taxi costs $5-6!
To Washington DC
Train: First you have to take a bus to Penn Station then you have to get the MARC train to DC Union station. Students pay $5.25 others $7.
MegaBus: takes off from white marsh and its $6, one way, depending on the time of the day.
The Posted monthly rental price is for one person only! Please inquire if you have a company!
I have been 3 months living in Tek´s place. The place is wide, quiet and your private space is highly respected, The house has all the facilities you may need for a short or long stay (kitchen, fridge, laundry machine, drying machine, internet, private bathroom) and all of them work perfectly. It is less than 5 minutes away walking from Bayview hospital in a very secure and homely neighborhood, moreover you can find plenty of restaurants and shops in the surroundings, a fast bus that you can take at the end of the street reaches the centre of Baltimore, and if you work in Hopkins you have a shuttle service every 30 minutes between Bayview and the Johns Hopkins hospital.
But the best thing of this place is the owner, Tek is one of the most friendly and respectful persons I have ever met, I am glad to consider him a friend and I hope to be able to pay him his hospitality back someday if he visits Spain.
I stayed here for a month while doing a medical student rotation at Sinai Hospital. The room was very comfortable, and private. I was really there only to sleep. Tek is very nice and accommodating. He knew I would be doing some studying/work so he brought down a desk and chair for me to use. He is very sweet and even offered me dinner a few nights. Overall good experience.
Tek provided a clean, comfortable place to stay at a great price. His house is quite close to most of the major attractions in the city, especially the Inner Harbor area.
I don't think our schedules matched up since we didn't see much of Tek. The short time we did meet, though, he was friendly and accommodating. He offered us full use of the kitchen though my husband and I had brought snacks and went to restaurants during our stay.
Privacy, noise, parking, and safety were not a problem at all. The only caveat for me is the hand-held shower. It took quite a lot of getting used to, but it was wonderful to have a private room and bath.
My husband and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.
I had a good time at the apartment. Used to bus to go downtown Baltimore several times and it was never a problem. Tek was very helpful when I needed information about buses to different places like New York and D.C.
I had a solid stay at Tek's house. The room was amply sized and the bed was both big and comfortable. The bathroom was great except for a dysfunctional cold water handle at the sink. The house also had a comfortable living room and a well stocked and generally clean kitchen except for some rather smelly cabinets. My only real complaint was that the wireless internet was largely incompatible with my Mac.
Tek is a gracious and friendly host. He helped me find several places in Baltimore. His house is nice and he is very open to sharing anything he has. It a private room but not isolated, which was nice for me because I was there for a while. I enjoyed my stay.
I'm pleased to leave Baltimore knowing that Tek is a new friend. We had a fun time together despite my being sick and him being injured at the time. The bottom line is that Tek is extremely kind, gracious, calm, and personable. You'll have a good host if you're with Tek.
I had a great experience staying with Tek! Although he was away on a business trip for about half of my stay, he went out of his way to get me the key.
The place was clean and had anything I might need such as clean towels, bedding, and access to washer/dryer and kitchen. The room was spacious and had two windows with a view of the street to keep the room bright.
I enjoyed chatting with Tek about travel and he made me a delicious meal and homemade tea. He was also nice to give me a refund when I ended up cutting my stay shorter than originally planned, as my semester of school ended early.
I arranged for my stay with Tek at the last moment... I was scheduled to stay at the Baltimore Hostel, which was a nice place but after a couple nights there, I really wanted some privacy. I found Tek, contacted him, and he responded right away and was more than happy to have me. His home was warm and peaceful, the location was very close to where I was working so the drive was easy, the basement room was perfect and cozy so I slept great! And I loved having my own bathroom to use, Tek provided towels and it was very clean. My schedule is always packed due to long work days so I did not have the opportunity to spend time with Tek, but we kept in touch via text messaging... 2 nights in a row he prepared delicious meals and left it on the stove for me to eat after my work day. It was really nice to come to, especially because I was always really hungry! Tek is a good cook, and you could feel that the food was prepared by someone with a big heart. :)
Tek was a very friendly and accommodating host, and also a very good cook! I enjoyed drinking his home-made tea and chatting with him very much. The room was as described ---- very spacious and clean. The private bathroom was not directly connected to my room, which I had to walk pass the laundry room before reaching to the bath. However, it was not a problem for me. As previous reviews mentioned, this room only has one door to separate it from the entire house, but I had no problem with privacy when I was in the house. Moreover, I was commuting between Johns Hopskins Bayview Campus and Downtown campus with convenient transportation from Tek's place, i.e. less than 10 minutes walk then take the JHH shuttle at Bayview. I did not have time to explore around Baltimore but there are several buses travelling to Downtown Baltimore from Tek's house. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay and I will recommend this place to people who are looking for accommodation of competitive prices and convenient transportation.
