Perched on a hill in a gated community estate overlooking Quepos, your private apartment awaits. The forest surrounding your apartment is bursting with life, from monkeys to birds to iguanas.

The apartment is situated in an ideal location, walking distance to Quepos and just off the main road leading into Manuel Antonio. You can walk to anything Quepos has to offer and find a taxi or bus just outside the gated entrance to go into Manuel Antonio.

Your apartment includes all the amenities you would expect from a great hotel:
- Clean bedding and environment
- Fast wifi internet
- air conditioned room (not really needed except for a couple hours in the afternoon, the mornings and evenings are cool here and we're so high up we don't really have any mosquitos!)
- Maid service!
- Washing clothes (optional extra)

Your private Villa apartment is detached from main house with your own separate entrance, You'll also appreciate there's a slight temperature drop even when you're just a couple hundred feet higher up.

Nestled inside a well maintained gated community and home to the Rain Drop Spa, Manuel Antonio Estates sits on the main road to world famous Manuel Antonio national park and its beaches. A true sanctuary when you're home, yet very easy access to everything Quepos and Manuel Antonio has to offer! From zip lining tours, massages, surfing (yes!), fishing, golf, hiking, gym, horseback riding, sight seeing, snorkeling/diving, boating, jet skis, swimming, wildlife viewing, tennis, biking, yoga, shopping, white water rafting and more!

It seems you'll never run out of new foods to experience, from some of our favorite restaurants in Quepos (with healthy options too!) to the long row of restaurants and hotels in Manuel Antonio.

  • Happy Jacana is a dream vacation spot for large groups! We loved watching monkeys from the balcony, swimming in the pool, taking in the view, and cooking delicious meals in the fully-stocked kitchen. While we were there, all of our needs were taken care of immediately. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the neighborhood felt safe and surreally beautiful. James responded quickly to all of our questions, and we were able to comfortably sleep 18 during our stay. I hope we have the chance to return next year!

  • The apartment was as pictured in the photos. Perfect for what we needed and the grounds were immaculate. We were very happy with things during our 3 night stay.

The unit has a nice variety of appliances (toaster oven, microwave, blender) and a full set of dining utensils and cookware - unlike other places we have stayed in where the kitchen items consisted of chipped odds and ends.

Tai Munoz was the property manager that we interacted with and she emailed us to confirm our arrival. When we arrived, we discovered that the wifi password that James has in his "automated" information sent from Air BNB was incorrect and you actually need an log in ID and password - not just a password. We located a restaurant with wifi that we had to use to contact Tai for that information as well as additional bedding for the sofabed for our son. She was very prompt in getting back to us (within 4 hours) on both items. The next day, we needed some lightbulbs which had burned out and again, showed up promptly with some replacements.

It is (email hidden) walk from the unit into town. We chose to walk into town for dinner and get groceries at the Mas x Menos store on the main street and take a taxi back. Other places to eat are the Point Restaurant/Bar a couple of doors down (bit expensive for what you get but that's true of Jaco & Costa Rica overall) - try their empanadas. We also walked down the beach to the Laguna and had dinner there while watching the sunset - there are actual tables spread out along the beach so you don't feel as crammed in as the Point.

The ground staff works hard to maintain the cleanliness of the property, the other occupants of the complex were very nice.

Thank you Mimi, glad you had a great time! Noted on the wifi password I will be updating it on here :) .. come see us again soon!

  • Overall, we had a great time at the Jacana Villa. Jonathan, who assists guests with everything from maintenance, to taxis, to booking tours, is WONDERFUL. He was constantly available, and always very prompt with his response to any issue. He was also incredibly friendly and just generally great to work with. The housekeeper was also fabulous, and did a great job at keeping a very large house clean. The house looks exactly like the pictures. We did have a few small maintenance issues, but Jonathan addressed them quickly. The balcony/pool are great, and the living space is also quite comfortable. The bedrooms are generally large and work well (especially the master bedrooms, which are gorgeous). The house could be improved with a little more seating for eating. For example, we stayed in another house that had a picnic table both in the kitchen and out on the balcony--it would be great to see this at Jacana.

Overall, though, the house was great, and James/Jonathan were wonderful hosts!

    Response from James:

    Hi Ali

Thank you so much for taking the time to review. I'm really glad you had a good time and we were able to address any concerns you had quickly. Team Jacana really is awesome!

Also your points for improvement -- we have a new chef that has brought with her additional seating (when guests engage in the chef option) and since we always have large groups come through we are now going to buy an additional table. (We used to borrow from the next door Villa but now we've both been getting so busy we both need our own expanded seating :))

Thanks again Ali, come see us again soon!

  • The condo was a great place to begin our trip to Costa Rica. We loved the (email hidden)uth end of the beach about 5-10 minutes from the busier downtown. The condo was secure, the pool is awesome and the caretakers were very kind and helpful. The condo has a small kitchenette which is stocked with the basics, and 2 AC units. The host also provided a surf board which we took advantage of. We would certainly consider staying here for a longer period of time in the future.

  • Mar Arena Review
Our fist time in Jaco and we stayed at #8 for 2 weeks. James' contact for the airport transfer was reliable and friendly and greeted us as at the airport. Unfortunatley there was a misunderstanding somewhere and the key to the apartment was not available to us when we arrived 3 PM. We waited out the 6 hr. delay with the ever so friendly and helpful neighbours. Many, many thanks to them. Merci Ginette & Richard!
Good night sleeps were had in the Tempur-pedic king size bed. The sun, beach and pool were of course amazing.
We felt safe & secure on this very well maintained property.
We drank the osmosis filtered water, but the neighbours who return each year are at ease to drink the water directly from the tap. (So no worries there.)
The fridge 'crushed ice dispenser' was a cool extra. A/C worked fine; no problems as was described in another review. Also, no mosquitos around us.

It definitely needs to be understood that Paula is the on site contact for any concerns and help you may need (not the husband & wife concierge working on the property 6 days a week). Paula helped us to get some bikes and they were great to have for getting around.

Dining in: we did basic cooking many evenings. It was nice to have the blender for breakfast and/or happy hour smoothies!
Dining out: Lots of choice. We ate out primarily at the 'Tipica Costa Rican' restaurants and they were within walking distance (if you don't mind walking through the small unlit section of the road). We walked all the time and felt safe.
Check out these Tica Soda restaurants:
Rancho Santa Ana - Soda y Marisqueria on Pastor Diaz past Morgan's Cove resort on the left.
Alta Mar - Soda y Marisqueria, complete south end of Pastor Diaz at Calle Madrigal.
Marea Alta - Soda y Marisqueria - on Pastor Diaz across from the gym.
Our favourtie icecream treat place was: Heladería El Barco
The Green Room resto. was good, too (a little costlier than 'Tipica' menus).

If you want to do something different than the beach there is a trail up to the old observatory. The entrance is at route 34 & Calle Madrigal. It's about 12 mins. to the first stop. You'll see guides going up with tourists on horseback.
Don't forget to go to the Friday Market for fruits & vegetables. (Next to the soccer field.)

We had a great time and we would definitely return.

  • We made accommodations to stay at James' residence for 4 nights. It's a 1 bedroom apartment, beach front property, just a bit further distance out from the hub-bub busyness of Jaco. Nice and quiet, with friendly neighbors all around the complex. Need to be careful with the A/C in the bedroom, don't turn it too cold or it will trip out/overheat and not work for a few hours til it cools down again. Make sure to bring mosquitoe repellant, they are relentless. There's a full kitchen there, and you could go to the local market about 1.5 miles away, costs about $2US via taxi. groceries aren't cheap, but many things we are familiar with in US is available there and you can cook your own food if you prefer cooking. We didn't need to contact James, as Paula was there to follow up with us if we needed to make any arrangements for transportation and tours. Be aware, you need to contact her for the wifi information, and a minor dilemma was that our phone in the apartment was not usable, luckily I was able to ask a neighbor for wifi info, and able to contact Paula via a internet phone and email correspondence. Paula stopped by the night before we left and let us know how we should arrange to checkout.

We actually rented a scooter at nearby AXR and took it to adjacent tourist attractions Villa Calentes (hotel) for the sunset and views, and also down to the Esterillos Oeste, a quiet beach town with serene beach coast line. Beautiful country, wonderful experience. We would definitely like to come back again.

  • James' condo was the perfect place to stay during our time in Jaco. As in the description, it is directly on the beach. Wake up, walk by the pool and you're right on the sand! The area is beautiful and quiet if you're looking for something just outside of Jaco downtown. South Jaco beach has a very cool laid back vibe with local bars and smaller boutique hotels along the beachfront. Beautiful sunsets. The condo is a great size for 2, bathroom is renovated, there is a full kitchen. The king size bed has a very nice memory foam mattress and is as comfortable as sleeping at home. James provided great tips about the area, was able to help with transportation and parking as well. Highly recommend this condo to stay! Overall, great!

  • James's Beachfront Getaway in South Jaco was the perfect place to stay on my trip to Jaco. It's a very nice and well kept condo community steps away from the beach. The condo itself was kept in great condition and Angela, the property manager, was a pleasure to work with. I recommend this place to others.

  • The place was perfect! It was on the beach - literally stepped outside to surf every morning! Very close to town (Jaco), only about a 2-3 minute bike ride.

    Thanks for the awesome experience!
