  • As an interior designer, I enjoyed the contempory chic style of the basement apartment and the breathtakingly elegant arcitecture of early 20th century limestone townhouse upstairs. As a traveler, the completeness of the appointments, down to every dish, pot and type of cutlery, surprised and impressed me. The neighborhood is the quintessential Brooklyn Brownstone enclave, friendly, safe, lively but quiet and charming. 2 blocks down, 7th Avenue bustles with restaurants, coffee houses and interesting shops. The avenue, however, is a practical and authentic neighborhood with many food stores, pharmacies, same day laundries and a laundromat. In the opposite direction, Prospect Park is half a block away, with the Brooklyn Library, Botanical Garden and Brooklyn Museum just a 5 minute walk beyond that. Our hosts, Alan and Lori, and my husband, Rod, and I were all Airbnb neophytes when we visited, so we were all finding our way in this new endeavor together. Alan graciously worked with us to find solutions to challenges. You HAVE to love a host who reads his emails immediately all day long and responds just as quickly! Thank you from 2 new Brooklyn converts.

  • We had such a pleasant stay in Alan and Lori's beautiful home.

It was peaceful and quiet and literally right next to the park. The shower was one of the best I've ever had with some serious water pressure....and those towels(OMG)!

This place has lots of little luxurious little details that make the stay(the bottle of wine they left us upon arrival for example).

We had to ask some questions about the heating and Alan was very responsive and helpful.

I would recommend this place in the future to family and friends looking for a comfy place to stay and enjoy a Brooklyn experience.

  • Alan and Lori's place was lovely! we had a wonderful stay and the apartment was so close to the heart of parks slope. The park just steps away and all the shops and restaurants of 5th and 7th ave just a couple blocks away.

The apartment was clean, spacious, and well stocked. We also had a few requests that Alan was quick to respond to and accommodate. Alan was so generous and trustworthy, we felt very comfortable and welcome in his home.

Thank you for a lovely weekend. We will definitely be back!

  • Alan and Lori were very gracious hosts. The quiet studio apartment was very nice and clean. The wonderful bath towels were quite the added touch! It was in a very good neighborhood with immediate access to Prospect Park. I managed to find parking on the street near the apartment, which was a huge bonus. We would definitely stay here again!!!

About
Down to earth couple with two teenage children; Enjoy family travels, theater, live music, healthful eating and restaurants that serve "clean" food; we like to entertain but we're casual so nothing pretentious. Neither of us is from NY (Chicago and Orlando) but we have been here for more than 25-years so we're here to stay. We've lived in Brooklyn/Park Slope for 7-years and still kick ourselves for not leaving Manhattan sooner. Alan is an executive in advertising, and Lori runs and creative recruiting company. Any questions, feel free to ask.
