Why rent a room or casita when you can have your very own house with a wrap-around deck and a large fenced yard? The Copper Penny House is steps away from all of the galleries and eateries in Madrid. Park your car, no need to drive. Just kick up your heels at the outside bar on the deck. Gaze at the stars on the front deck with a glass of wine. The house has a large fenced yard for the furry kids and a gated area for parking cars and motorcycles. Easy scenic drive to Santa Fe or Albuquerque.

EXTRA GUESTS: Please note: the nightly rate is for 2 guests. Additional guests (up to 2) pay $25 per guest per night. Maximum of 4 people total can stay at the house. So please declare the correct number of guests when you book.
PETS. If you are travelling with pets there is an additional, non refundable pet fee of $35. You can simply leave this fee on the kitchen table upon arrival if you did not pay it in the app during booking.
The Copper Penny house was one of the original miner's cabin back in Madrid's mining heyday. It has been lovingly restored and modernized. The full kitchen with stainless appliances and butcher block counter top also displays a unique copper penny back splash for which the house gets its name. Copper pennies also line the stairs to the second floor. The kitchen is fully stocked with coffee, teas, creamers, condiments, pots, pans, utensils, spices...pretty much anything you would need to cook your meals. Pour yourself a glass of wine and enjoy the stars from the front deck. Or gather the family around the picnic table on the back deck and grill some burgers on the BBQ. The yard is spacious and fully fenced and gated, so your dogs, kids and car are secure. In the full bathroom there is also a washer and dryer for your use. The walls are covered with original artworks and paintings.

Guest access
The guests have total access to all of the house and yard.

Other things to note
Please note! We have a single camera located outside the kitchen door for security purposes. There are no other cameras, indoor or outdoor.

Neighborhood highlights

Madrid, a former coal-mining town, then abandoned ghost town and now a thriving art center is truly a mecca for an eclectic array of talented people. Artists, actors, musicians and writers coming from a wide array of backgrounds, manage to thrive harmoniously in this funky, high desert town in Northern New Mexico. With fabulous eateries such as The Hollar showcasing Southern cuisine with a New Mexican twist and the infamous Mine Shaft Tavern with iconic margaritas, green chili burgers and live music, one can always find a great place to eat and drink.

Lives in Madrid, New Mexico
Miriam and I are artists and have been married for 30+ years. We love living in the high desert and love our little, quirky arts community of Madrid, New Mexico. When we are not here in the desert making art we love to hike and go camping with our three dogs and pet chicken, Bella.
