  • It was a short layover in Kanab but everything was exactly as advertised, the place was spotless. Laurel, her husband and her dog were great hosts. They were able to accommodate my limited schedule and gave me lots of information regarding local hikes. I would recommend them to anyone.

  • My wife and I loved our stay with Laurel and Russell in Kanab! They were fantastic hosts and the accommodations were wonderful. Our room was very comfortable and the private bathroom was spotlessly cleaned. The setting in Kanab is so quiet and peaceful that I was able to sleep very soundly. We also enjoyed the very generous morning treats. Laurel and Russell are lovely people and we so enjoyed having a chance to get to know them. We will certainly return in the near future!

  • Laurel was an amazing hostess. The bedroom was cozy and comfortable. The adjacent bath was small but functional. The basement area has comfortable chairs and a big TV - it is shared with Laurel and her husband Russell. Her little dog Snuffles is just precious and her cat stayed by herself. What made my stay so wonderful was Laurel's friendly personality and intelligent conversation. She went out of her way to suggest and arrange an amazing canyoneering experience with Nick Smith (a truly professional guide) who showed me how to rappel. Laurel went with us and we had a great time. Laurel knows the area and makes great recommendations for activities. She made some suggestions for my visit to Zion National Park which were right on the money. I highly recommend her Savage Point B&B (the breakfast was delicious and plentiful). I will stay here again, for sure.

  • We had a wonderful time staying with Russell and Laurel (not to mention Snuffles). Both made us feel totally at home during our stay. Kanab is an incredible base and jumping off point for exploring SW Utah. Savage Point B&B is the best place to return to after a long day of hiking and exploring. Highly recommended.

  • I spent a wonderful Holiday experience in Laurel and Jerry's Home. It was the perfect spot to get out and hike and then lovely to come back and relax. It was also a great treat to be able to have my dogs with me. They have a fenced in yard and a cute little pup snuffles. Don't get me started on breakfast, Laurel is quite the baker, i was feeling quite spoiled.

  • We have been traveling in the U.S on a road trip since mid-October, from California Eastwards through Yosemite and across Arizona and we have stayed in many places, often for just one night - Savage Point bed & breakfast has been the best resting place of our entire stay so far. The moment we arrived we extended our stay! Laurel and her husband Russell open their home to their guests, it is inviting warm, comfortable and cozy. Breakfast is wonderful with fruit and home-made conserves, advice about hikes through Bryce Canyon and Zion National Park proved invaluable, suggestions as to where to eat in Kanab were helpful and the chat generally was informative, companionable and fun! Snuffles, the most welcoming terrier ever was a joy. We cannot praise Savage Point enough and recommend it unreservedly - if you are visiting the area this is THE place to stay!

  • My sister and myself experienced a wonderful stay at Laurel's place. The minute we arrived at her place we felt immediately welcomed. Both Laurel and her husband are wonderful, open-minded and very easy-going people with whom we would have loved to stay much longer. We shared good laughs with them, got great travel tips and were able to enjoy a very delicous breakfast. And a special mention also goes to their cutest little dog who conquered our hearts immediately:)! We definitely recommend Laurel as a host - you will have a great experience!

After living in Southern Utah for 4 years I still have so much more exploring to do here in this incredible region. Originally came from Northern California, miss the ocean and running thru the woodlands and coastal trails but the the science, geology, landscapes and everything else about the High Desert continually fascinates me now. Personally; I am a researcher/writer/ art historian and have worked in South America, Europe, Northern & South Africa, Greece & Turkey. I like to paint, hike, read, am a movie buff and enjoy our ever expanding garden (a couple from Moscow just proudly posed for photos holding our 22" Armenian cucumbers!) and most certainly our animals (the 3 audacious cats, a toss-me-on-my-belly-for -scritches adoring Cairn Terrier and our little Budgie Bird "Cloud"). Oriiginally fell in love with this region after rowing a 2-man dory down the Colorado River through Grand Canyon, followed that amazing venture by running Rim-to-Rim (26 miles) across the Grand Canyon - twice. Now, the Pioneer culture, art, literature, hiking and enjoying SW Utah/the Colorado Plateau still fascinates. Russell and I enjoy meeting new people, sharing social and environmental philosophies and life experience. Russell was a Rock Musician in LA and abroad for 20 years, taught in a Music Conservatory in Helsinki, Finland and now in a certain shift of life, is a Park Ranger with Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. He knows both the Back Country and the paleontology of GSENM and other regional National Parks. We both definitely enjoy the cultural diversity of our guests and look forward to helping our guests enjoy their stay in the SouthWest. I guess our motto for the day is : "May what you love be what you do, there are many ways to kiss the earth" - Rumi
