SAVAGE POINT Bed & Breakfast, located in Kanab, Utah, is in the perfect location for exploring many of the most amazing National Parks, breath-taking state parks and public lands in America. Five national parks, 7 national monuments and over 22 million acres of protected wilderness. Lots to explore, so plan on spending some serious time creating unforgettable memories in this spectacular red rock canyon country.

This intimate home-away-from home offers a cozy and quite private large guest suite with a separate guest entrance, attractive bedroom & full bath with adjoining entertainment room -- including a pull-out sleeper sofa for additional guests and family. A large-screen TV, and the warm wood stove make this a delightful, personal and relaxing space.
It is a Zen-like home, and we are proud to say that our attention to guests have given us a "200%" satisfaction rating from global guests.

We are In-Home Hosts and expect you to respect that. We share our home with you, and provide considerable expert advice and even family-style attention. Russell is a Park Ranger for the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, & Laurel is a Writer/Art Historian. Our dog Shanti & his two cohort KITTIES (Dirty-Face Kirby & Jacob) are loving fur-friends who take their jobs as B&B Greeters playfully.
We encourage our visitors to think of this generous B&B as a 4-season destination with endless adventures waiting.

Savage Point is an animal-friendly property with large enclosed yard. Please contact host for information (horses can be stabled nearby). Dogs MUST be animal-friendly.

Guest access

Guests have their own private "sous-terre" suite with an entertainment room (cozy woodstove) & access to a lovely garden/orchard with picnic table, ponds and even an authentic Finnish sauna (extra fee for use of sauna). The new Exercise Shed is also available if you want to do some weights during your stay.

Interaction with guests

We interact a great deal with our guests, offering expert advice on visiting this region over the fresh homemade breakfast. Sometimes I even go rappelling with guests! If you are celebrating a special event, our professional pastry chef is willing to create an unforgettable cake!

The neighborhood

Kanab, the "heart of the National Parks", is an authentic Western Legends town ~ a pioneer community surrounded by fabulous red rock buttes & some of the most famous hiking in the world. From our zen-like home, guests can walk into town for dinner, go see a classic Western movie (over 300 were filmed here) & take advantage of beautiful local hiking trails. It's a small, friendly town & the stars at night here are considered some of the brightest and best in the world (join a Star Party!)

Kanab has the best outdoor adventure guides in Southern Utah. Canyoneering, horse treks, pictograph or photography tours ~ we know every guide and are happy to help guests set up special adventures.

Getting around

Walk, ride a horse, bicycle or drive.

Other things to note

We enjoy pets and have a big fenced-in dog-friendly yard your dog can share with our friendly Doggie Co-Hostess Shanti-Deva. Guest pets MUST be dog & cat-friendly. We need to charge a slight $10-a-day pet fee and ask guests to clean-up before leaving. Dogs are only allowed on limited trails in the National Parks so we can negotiate a daily "pet-sitting" fee in addition.
Following a recent incident, we are breed specific now so guests must contact Host before arriving with dogs.

My husband, dog, and I had a wonderful 3-night stay at Savage Point. The rooms were private and well appointed and the garden, yard, and water features felt like a secret oasis in the high altitude desert. Laurel makes delicious breakfasts--more than enough fuel for your Utah adventure. She and Russell were warm, friendly, and full of suggestions for local hikes, roads less traveled, and the best places to eat in and around town. We enjoyed our stay and plan to come back in the fall.

Great place to stay at. It's a bit far from Zion to drive up everyday but the hosts are very friendly and helpful!

The home is beautifully landscaped especially in back. You could relax back there for many hours. The host was friendly, very interesting and helpful. She is fountain of knowledge and advice about local attractions. They were very accommodating with us having three young daughters. Our girls loved their dog and cats and we enjoyed our stay. Do try, if you get a chance, their apricot jelly. It is homemade and amazing (:

Laurel and Russell are excellent hosts. The many pets and lovely decor make the downstairs living quarters homey. We were welcomed by a fire in the stove on a cold rainy evening and we immediately felt right at home. Bed and shower are good, wifi is decent. Laurel and Russell's knowledge of the area is a great asset when travelling around Kanab and the national parks in the region. We greatly enjoyed the time we spent with them, and would love to stay again.

Laurel User ProfileLaurel is a superhost.

Even after living in Southern Utah for 48-years I have much more exploring to do. Originally came from Northern California, miss the ocean and running thru the woodlands and coastal trails but everything about the High Desert fascinates me now. I am a Writer/ art historian and have worked in South America, Europe, Northern & South Africa, Greece & Turkey. I like to paint, hike, read, am a movie buff and enjoy our ever expanding garden (a couple from Moscow just proudly posed for photos holding our 22" Armenian cucumbers!) and most certainly our very special animals.
Russell and I enjoy meeting new people and sharing stories. Russell was a Rock n Roll Musician in LA and abroad for 20 years, taught in a Music Conservatory in Helsinki, Finland and now is a Park Ranger with Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.
We both definitely enjoy the cultural diversity of our guests and look forward to helping our guests enjoy their stay in the SouthWest.
I guess our motto for the day is : "May what you love be what you do, there are many ways to kiss the earth" - Rumi
