Our comfortable home is within 20 to 90 minutes away from the North Rim of the Grand Canyon ~ Zion National Park ~ Bryce Canyon National Park ~ Glen Canyon/Lake Powell & Antelope Canyon ~ beautiful Cedar Breaks ~ Vermilion Cliffs ~ Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument & much more. The world famous "WAVE" hike is nearby, with daily lottery 10 minutes away.

  • We had a fun stay with Laurel and Russell in their cute place in Kanab. It was easy to find, and on a quiet street with a nice view. Our hosts were warm, friendly, and so great to talk to . We even found out that Russell knew my dad, an art professor in California, "back in the day"!! Too funny! The room was cozy and cool, and the room and bath were really clean. The place they suggested for dinner was fantastic, and it was one of the best meals of our trip. I would highly recommend staying with them, especially if you would like to meet an adorable dog, relax in a lovely backyard in the shade and sip wine, and the eat the most delicious breakfast made by Laurel, which you do not find in many airbnb locations. We will see them next time we pass through. Thanks guys, we made it to Vegas!

  • We had a one night stay here, and wish we could have had more time. We enjoyed the house - especially seeing the garden and Russell's sauna. Laurel was friendly and was interesting to talk to. She gave us great recommendations for day hikes, and for the Rockin' V Cafe in Kanab for dinner, which is just a few blocks away. We were also glad that Kanab's grocery store, Honey's Market, had a good variety of gluten-free groceries.

  • Laurel (email hidden)! She helped us get a great dinner reservation, the breakfast was lovely and the conversation stimulating. The bed was fabulous.
We have driven thru Kanab many times, generally staying at the chain hotels. This was a chance to get a taste of the local community and to learn more about the area.

  • This was the second stay at Savage Point B&B in as many weeks. The experience was so good two weeks before we decided to stay again. If I were to describe Savage Point in one word it would be peaceful with a capital P. We got to meet Russell this trip and he was as wonderful as Laurel. They make a great couple and are surprisingly intuitive when it comes to knowing what we needed and how much or how little to interact with us. I can't imagine anyone staying here and not throughly enjoying their visit.

  • Very beautiful and quiet place. You are at Laurel home like at your home. Laurel and his husband are so nice and very welcoming. You can eat with them if you want, use their barbecue, they are very friendly. They have a beautiful garden and a funny dog: snuffles.
You are at 1h from Zion and 1h30 from north rim and bryce canyon. We recommand this beautiful B & B. The breakfast is delicious, thanks Laurel.

  • Savage Point B and B was very conveniently located just a couple of blocks off of Kanab's main street. There is a LOT to see and experience in the area and Savage Point is right in the middle of it all. You can walk to all the great local businesses in Kanab or hop in your vehicle and drive to hikes and views that leave you speechless. The accommodations are very quiet, clean and comfortable. Laurel was unquestionably the best host and her breakfasts are both healthy and delicious. The muffins were homemade and just wonderful. Laurel is very knowledgeable about the area and can tell you how to find amazing places off the beaten path that are not crowded with tourists. Finally, no posting would be complete without mentioning Snuffles, the wonder dog. This little girl is both smart and loving. You just want to take her home with you.

    Response from Laurel:

Thank-you Robert, I've been wondering about that. Our expansion of the kitchen this winter will finally allow me to keep more good food stuffs in so that is more easily possible. Look forward to seeing you both again soon.
Wonder Dog sends you big paw loves!

  • We had such a great time at Laurel's place. The place is very clean and quiet. Kanab is very well located. We did day trips to Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon and Grand Canyon, and explored some of the area close by (such as Coral Pink Sand Dunes).
Laurel and Russel are very friendly, open and give good tips for hiking trails, etc.
The breakfast was delicious and healthy.
We strongly recommend Laurel's place. We will return some day for more hiking :-)

  • Laurel was an amazing host. She gave us great tips about the best way to explore Antelope Canyon and the surrounding area, pointing out additional sites to visit that we had not previously thought of. Her place was clean and had everything we could have wanted. Breakfast was delicious.

After living in Southern Utah for 4 years I still have so much more exploring to do here in this incredible region. Originally came from Northern California, miss the ocean and running thru the woodlands and coastal trails but the the science, geology, landscapes and everything else about the High Desert continually fascinates me now. Personally; I am a researcher/writer/ art historian and have worked in South America, Europe, Northern & South Africa, Greece & Turkey. I like to paint, hike, read, am a movie buff and enjoy our ever expanding garden (a couple from Moscow just proudly posed for photos holding our 22" Armenian cucumbers!) and most certainly our animals (the 3 audacious cats, a toss-me-on-my-belly-for -scritches adoring Cairn Terrier and our little Budgie Bird "Cloud"). Oriiginally fell in love with this region after rowing a 2-man dory down the Colorado River through Grand Canyon, followed that amazing venture by running Rim-to-Rim (26 miles) across the Grand Canyon - twice. Now, the Pioneer culture, art, literature, hiking and enjoying SW Utah/the Colorado Plateau still fascinates. Russell and I enjoy meeting new people, sharing social and environmental philosophies and life experience. Russell was a Rock Musician in LA and abroad for 20 years, taught in a Music Conservatory in Helsinki, Finland and now in a certain shift of life, is a Park Ranger with Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. He knows both the Back Country and the paleontology of GSENM and other regional National Parks. We both definitely enjoy the cultural diversity of our guests and look forward to helping our guests enjoy their stay in the SouthWest. I guess our motto for the day is : "May what you love be what you do, there are many ways to kiss the earth" - Rumi
