Top floor, charming and central:

Bright and charming little apartment on top floor. My apartment is small but extremely cosy and charming. It is right at the lovely area Vesterbro with lots of cafées and little shops. Only a 10 minute bike ride from the center. Its on the (website hidden) floor, so if you have trouble with your health or legs it might be a bit of a climb.
I recommend my apartment for one or two travelers. There are beds enough for four people but it will feel crowded if you are more than two, unless you know each other really well. Or if you are traveling with children - they will love climbing the ladder and sleeping at the cosy loft.
The living room has a sofa that turns into a very comfortable doublebed. There's a ladder in the living room that takes you right under the roof where there is a matress big enough for two. There is a roof window where you can fall a sleep while looking at the stars. Cosy and romantic. The kitchen has a beautiful light and a cute little nook. In the kitchen there is also a dining table with four chairs and of course fridge, microwave, stove and your usual kitchen stuff. And you can use my spices and oils for cooking. I want you to feel at home.

I am student at The Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts here in Copenhagen and your staying here, will help me get through school.

I will, of course, make sure you have clean apartment, towels and linen. I am looking forward to hearing from you. If you have any questions please contact me and I'll get back to you asap.

  • We had a very nice time staying at Mette's apartment. It's greatly located and very cosy. It was fun sleeping upstairs looking at the sky ! Everything was fine and Mette was reactive when we had questions. She also gave us some good tips for food and outings ! We recommend her place !

  • I booked Mette’s apartment for 1 month between a transitional stage of moving.

I am assuming this is new to Mette, as I find the behavior shown for a host is entirely unacceptable and extremely disappointing. The apartment is wildly overpriced, left me feeling unsafe due to the below issues, and I would recommend looking elsewhere for an apartment.

At first she was helpful by meeting us later than planned with the keys. When I arrived at the apartment I was surprised just how small it was and how dangerous it was to get up the ladder to the attic bed. I ended having to take the mattress down to set up the bed by the kitchen because it was the only place logical to sleep if I wanted to preserve the small living space we had (I ended up having to buy an air mattress to make it sleepable).

I was disappointed once more when I realized no towels had been provided for us, not a single role of toilet paper was in the house and the kitchen sink was broken. I was also alarmed to find out the key she left us to the building front door also opened the building next door, and our apartment door making it possible for ANYONE to get in. Furthermore I have learned that this apartment probably has no permission by law to sublet. This also means a very real possibility of eviction during the stay even after paying..

During the one month of our stay we had a friend that lives in Copenhagen that slept over for a max 3-4 nights after a few nights out. When Mette met us for the keys during move out she aggressively accused us of having him stay for the entire month, frivolously claiming that her friends and neighbors had seen this.. (this was after the uncomfortable fact she requested us to lie to her neighbors and say we were old friends staying over, so not to contravene either the LAW or the Buildings Rules)

At first we told her we would happily pay for any nights friends may have spent but she continued to accost us with empty backhanded threats. She also demanded we pay her for cleaning (which we had already done through airbnb) and denied ever receiving money. To top it all off she accused us of breaking a chair, which had sat idly and untouched in a corner our entire stay. In attempt to calm her I offered to pay for any repairs if she would get a quote. In my rush to leave this hostile environment I may have left several items including a camera and a precious family heirloom given to me by my grandmother who very recently passed away. These items are extremely valuable to me, as such Ive tried to contact Mette several times on this subject and she has continued to ignore all my messages.

The bottom line is, book here at your own risk.

    Response from Mette:

Kathryn and I clearly do not agree on the event of things, and so be it.

I have hosted through airbnb for 3 years and I have never received a bad review and only once before have I felt inclined to make a claim on the deposit.

If you, future guest, have any questions regarding the review above, feel free to contact me or any of my previous guests, and I am sure you will find that the above review is written by a person feeling upset that I kept her deposit and wrote her a bad review. (only the second time I have ever done that and with airbnb as mediator of the deposit claim)

  • Mette was a great host! The apartment was nice, clean and really beautiful, although the bed could have been a bit larger for us as a couple!
We visited Copenhagen by car and got the tip by Mette to use a free parking space 3 bus stops away (3€ / 24DKK per way). Thanks for that since parking is extremely expensive there!

The apartment is located really close to "Istegade" where you´ll find some good restaurants and a small "red light area" in a 5-10 minute walk. The next supermarket is right across the street. A walk in the center (shopping street and university area) took us around 25 minutes walk. So still a very good location to explore the city!

We would really recommend staying with Mette and also to visit the city!

  • Our stay in Mette's flat really made our weekend away feel like a true Copenhagen experience. It is a lovely flat - Mette has been very creative with the use of space and we loved climbing up the ladder to reach the cosy and totally original bed-space! The location is brilliant. Very quick to reach from the airport and an easy walking distance to nearby places of interest. Some great bars and cafes close by too. Mette herself was a really lovely host - she gave us a very warm welcome and was in touch over the weekend to check that we were okay and if we were enjoying her recommendations! Nice to know that the Airbnb experience is helping Mette fund her art degree. Would certainly recommend this flat to others

  • Mette was a great host. She waited very patiently for me to show up to her place when I was running a little late and was very responsive when we contacted her asking questions during our stay. Good location, definitely walk-able to central station. A lot of fun.
