The Cottage:
This is a separate building, away from the street, so it is extremely private. One hundred years ago it was a carriage house for a horse and buggy before the age of cars. It was completely re-built last year from the ground up with all new materials and modern amenities. We live in the main house 20 feet away, and we are usually here to help you get settled or quickly answer any question.

The unit consists of the entire second floor (the top floor) of the cottage, which gives you partial views of Twin Peaks and Sutro Tower. Total size is approximately 450 sq. ft. There are two rooms total, each with a brand new and very comfortable queen bed (no sofa beds or futons!). You will sleep well on your trip.

Amenities include:
* two brand new beds with luxury bedding
* new hardwood floors
* large windows (well insulated and operable)
* all-new modern bathroom
* tub with double saloon glass shower
* professionally cleaned before each visit
* high speed wi-fi, cellular/3G/4G, strong signal
* one TV with cable, blu-ray DVD, free streaming Netflix. HULU, Amazon Prime Movies, and others available if you have an account
* private entrance with access code
* bike storage: off-street safe and secure
* laundry: free washer, dryer, and detergent!
* locked luggage area for early or late travel
* breakfast: try Matching Half Cafe (1.5 blocks away) or Eddie's (4 blocks away)

Please note that the unit does NOT have a full kitchen or separate living room. We wanted to give you a full second bedroom with a real queen bed to sleep more guests comfortably (no sofa beds or futons here!). There is a microwave, mini-fridge, basic dishes, and table with chairs.

We apologize that the outdoor landscaping is still UNDER CONSTRUCTION. There is a 20 foot stretch where the ground is uneven and it may be difficult to roll suitcases. It is safe and well lighted day and night.

I update the calendar frequently, so if you see availability on our schedule then you can go ahead and make a booking now.

There is one free reserved outdoor parking space. In addition there is plenty of street parking if you have a second car. You don't really need a car to see SF, although it helps especially for wine country.

Early or late check-in/out
I will email you the access code for the the door lock so you can come and go at any hour. There are no physical keys. We also have a luggage room to store your things if you arrive before check-in time or depart after check-out time.

Free Laundry
Washer, dryer, and laundry detergent are available free of charge, 20 feet away in the main house. Please limit to two loads per day. Not available Friday 10am-2pm.

Pet Policy
One well behaved dog under 45 lbs may be allowed, subject to approval. Please let us know the size and breed in advance. We will charge a one time pet deep cleaning fee of $30. You are responsible for picking up after your dog, no barking, and no leaving your dog alone on the property. We have treats.

Check In
  • Talk about a secret cottage! The rooms are located behind all of the houses and far off the street, which make for a peaceful and quiet respite from the bustle of San Francisco. Everything is in great shape and clean and has all been recently updated. The reserved parking spot can definitely be a lifesaver if you plan on staying out later too. I would definitely check out Matching Half or Fly if your interested in great little places you can walk to.

    Response from Russ:

    Thanks so much for you kind words Dustin! I'm glad you enjoyed your stay.

  • It was a nice appartment and we love to stay there. It was a pleasure to meet Russ and he helped us with several tips. Thank you for that.
    The place was as described and what we expected. It was really silent in the night especially for a big city. The area where it's located is interesting. If we come back, we would stay there again.

  • Lovely little home away from home! Nice and clean and dog friendly too. The breakfast sandwich at the cafe down the street is delicious. We will certainly be back the next time we visit SF.

  • This is a wonderful space in a great location. We arrived later than expected due to traffic and a vacation attitude that made us slower than usual but none the less Russ was there to greet us immediately upon our arrival along with a very friendly furry buddy that started our stay on a very happy note and a recommendation for a favorite coffee house just a few minutes walk away =) The apartment itself is better than described, spotless, quiet, all appears brand new and the beds are very comfortable. Russ supplied everything we needed and made sure we knew that we could call him if we needed anything at all. We would absolutely stay again and recommend to others.

  • After some intense San Francisco driving on a Friday evening we were greeted at the front of the complex by Russ (must say that having a parking spot is a plus!).

    First off Russ is a wonderful host and provided a wealth of information about the neighborhood attractions and things to do in San Francisco. Coffee down the street at Matching Half is a must and just happened to find him there the morning of our stay.

    The location is very central in the heart of downtown San Francisco and the unit itself was perfect. A very comforntable bed, an amazing shower, and simple, elegant decorating are what awaits you after a long day out and about. I can't say enough nice things and will definitely be looking at staying here again if my travels bring me back.

I've lived here for 10 years with my wife and dog. We recently had a baby boy and wow has life changed! We enjoy hiking, eating, cooking, weekends in wine country, the beach, traveling to exotic places, and most of all nap time.
