Welcome to Dolphin Bay Cabanas.
The Cottage at Dolphin Bay Cabanas enjoys spectacular views across the bay. Located across a bridge, you'll enjoy privacy and comfort. With three bedrooms, it caters for upto five people and includes a self catering fully equipped kitchen and a bathroom with 'tropical shower'.
It also includes a fully equipped kitchen and large glass fronted living room, so you can enjoy the views in any weather. Take advantage of the over the water rancho for yoga or just to relax and enjoy the breezes.
Need access to the 'real world' - we have wifi! Our eco-conscious cottage runs off solar power and water is collected in our rainwater catchment system, so you'll be drinking the freshest water, free of charge.
The cottage consists of three bedrooms, two with double beds and an additional with two singles. The master bedroom has it's own private deck. We also have a cot and high chair which is available, should you be vacationing with young children.
Although the kitchen is fully equipped, you may prefer to dine out and are welcome to join us at the resort restaurant or enjoy meals at one of the two Afro-Caribbean restaurants located in the bays. There is also a pizza restaurant open on Friday nights and Sunday Lunch which is a must if you happen to stay over the weekend.
We have a range of sailing vessels as part of the resort that you are welcome to rent during your stay and we are happy to arrange tours, making use of the local tour operators. Dolphin bay is renowned for it's dolphin watching, which you can do right from the cottage and there is an organic chocolate farm and botanical garden just to the south of the bay which is a wonderful tour.
Dolphin Bay Cabanas also includes an incredible 3km walk through the forest where you are likely to encounter sloths, howler monkeys and a wide range of birdlife. This is a true nature lovers paradise.
Collection and transportation is available at $15per person or if you prefer we can arrange a taxi service for you.
Paradise: beautiful, peaceful, simply perfect!
Hosts: Jelle, his wife and mother very homy and friendly.
Amazing food, weather and places to visit around.
We enjoyed every minute there.
Jelle and family were very welcoming and accommodating. My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time at the cabanas. Beautiful property and great people.
Die Insel ist ein schöner Ort zum Entspannen. Wir haben uns dort sehr gut erholt! Außerdem gab es dort 3 entzückende Hunde, die uns die Tage versüßt haben.
Auch haben wir viele Delphine gesehen.
Unfortunately, upon our arrival to the island --the cottage was overbooked! Not the way we wanted to start our Bocas vacation. To add additional salt to the wound, it was Carnival time, so much (if not all) of Bocas was full. I will say that I'm glad that the team stepped up and called a number of people that they knew and was able to find us another location to stay w/ Erica and Jose (across the Dolphin Bay at the Hideaway!! It was great!)-- which turned out to be the best and a very 'happy mistake'.
We did receive our money back from Cabanas. However, it was disappointing how it was overbooked.
We stayed in this incredibly beautiful spacious house which is exactly what is looks like in the picture, very privately located away from the other cabins and the family restaurant, a few feet away from the water. Though as is typical in this area, you have to walk to a little pier where you can eat with the family and swim with Mira (a gorgeous labrador). The family of Monica, her son Jelle and his wife Eva could not have been more accommodation. There were usually 5- 6 other guests staying in the cabins who met for dinner, served family style. We thought we would want to cook but the atmosphere around the dinner table was interesting and enticing, the food was delicious and they served red and white wine in carafes (and if you wanted a beer, you just helped yourself in the kitchen). They offer sailing lessons and day trips, but we loved our house and preferred to stay there, great place to work and relax. Rainforest climate here so rain in the night - sunny during the day. We drove from Panama City which is a nice drive but long, the best way to get here is by plane from Costa Rica, San Jose or Panama City with Panama Air to Bocas Del Toro or David. There are no shops near this resort, a short boat ride takes you to Bocas where you can buy food, Panama rum and (hippie) clothes - a place that reminds us of the Key West, Florida about 50 years ago. Just across the bay there is a little restaurant run by a native family, the food was fresh, perfectly done and my husband had a BBQ chicken that he strongly recommends, the best he's ever eaten. The chicken crispy tacos were also splendid.
Jelle's place at the Dolphin Bay cabanas was a perfect place to relax and soul search. We rented the cottage with 4 of us who love to cook. The place is well equipped for your needs, provided you bring in all your groceries and spices. We were greeted at the dock very warmly and were welcomed to join the family style table for dinners with the hosts and other guests of the cabanas. Loving to cook for ourselves...we didn't end up finding our way to the group dinners. Unfortunately to no fault of Jelle, we had quite a bit of rainy weather which didn't allow us to explore the property and all the other options he and his mother so kindly offered. The cottage however allowed us so much privacy and comfort to kick back and relax with a good book. Laying out in the hammocks with a morning coffee watching the dolphins swim by, or jumping off the docks at night into the magical bioluminescent waters were out of this world. Finally our trip was made most memorable by Mira the wonderful chocolate lab. She walked us everywhere we needed to go and proudly took us on hikes through the jungle. If you are looking for a place to feel and home and relaxed...this place is for you. :)
This place is a real little paradise. After being in Bocas, Jelle and Janneke's place felt so beautiful, calm and healing.
The set up comes also with a beautiful welcoming energy from everybody that works there.
For every dinner at night, a spontaneous family table is set up and make you feel at home and amongst friends.
The jungle surrounds the site and few paths allows you to get in it very safely. The shallow water of the bay on the edge, allows you a wonderful snorkelling around the mangroves...a real aquatic Avatar experience!
Jelle has the equipment too...
We wished we could have stayed longer. A wonderful place away from the heavy touristic tracks.
