An imaginative newly built property that benefits from lovely traditional features like oak-faced doors, deep windows and low eaves. Situated on Higher Cheap Street in historic Sherborne the accommodation provides an ideal base from which to explore West Dorset and the surrounding countryside.
A private front door opens onto a Hallway leading to the newly fitted Kitchen with Dining Area, the Living Area and a Cloakroom. A staircase leads to the first floor where there is a fully fitted Shower Room and 2 Bedrooms.
The cosy but comfortable Living Area is fully kitted out with a flat screen Freeview television and DVD player, an iPod dock and a wide selection of books, DVDs and games. The kitchen is equipped with everything you would need and expect in self-catered accommodation: an oven, four-ring hob, fridge/freezer and a plentiful range of cupboards, cutlery, crockery, etc. The property is heated by Gas Central heating to radiators (first floor) and under floor heating (ground floor). Hot water is on demand and, like the electricity, gas, etc. included in the rental price.
There is an additional cottage next door which can be rented together to accommodate larger groups.
Downstairs there is a cosy but comfortable living area that is fully kitted out with a flat screen Freeview television and DVD player, an iPod dock and a wide selection of books, DVDs and games. Interaction with Guests
If you are arriving in the afternoon Monday - Friday we can usually meet you either at the cottage or at our offices (Sherborne Cottages & Apartments) nearby. If you are arriving late or on the weekend then we have a lockbox where we will leave the key.
Thorn Cottage is just a few minutes-walk to both Sainsbury’s and Coop supermarkets. There is a plentiful array of restaurants and tea/coffee shops in very close proximity to the property.
Sherborne is easy to navigate with or without a car. The train station is only a ten minute walk from the cottage and there are frequent direct trains to and from London Waterloo.
Parking – Higher Cheap Street has restricted parking and space is subject to availability. The Coldharbour Long Stay Car Park is a few minute walk away.
Other Things to Note
Please note that there is no dishwasher or washing machine in Thorn Cottage.
Towels, linen, wifi, etc. is all included in the price.
Pets are welcome by prior arrangement. This will incur a £35 additional cleaning fee.
There is no smoking allowed in the house. Cleaning supplies are left in the property and we hope that guests will leave the property in a similar state to how they found it.
We booked this cottage for a wedding we were attending in Sherborne and it was a perfect base for a beautiful weekend!
It was in a brilliant location and the description was perfect..."Cosy, cute and little..." The place was also exceptionally clean and very comfortable!!
It had everything we needed except a pen (which we needed to write a lovely review... Luckily we managed to borrow one from the cleaning lady :)
The hosts kindly left us some bread, milk, butter and a bottle of wine which was so sweet and throughly enjoyed.
I would definitely recommend this venue if you are visiting the area. Sherborne is an idillic little village and we will return at some point!
