Located on the ground floor, Croton is a very comfortable one-bedroom self contained studio apartment with en-suite bathroom. It is ideally suited for one to two persons.
The air condtioned bedroom is furnished with a double bed, bedside lamp and built in wardrobe. The bathroom offers a glass enclosed walk-in shower with hand-held shower and jets.
The living area features combined living, dining and kitchen area, cooled by ceiling fans. The kitchen includes micro-wave oven, toaster, kettle, cooker with oven and coffee maker.
Cable TV and free wireless internet connection, selection of board and card games are supplied for your further convenience.
Much of the character of Speightstown can be found in its architecture - historic buildings dating back to the early settlement of Barbados alongside modern buildings reflecting a developing nation - and in its people - the sidewalk vendors offering fresh fruits and vegetables, the fishermen unloading their catch along the jetty, local characters hanging out at the Esplanade and friendly sales staff in modern shops and restaurants.

Welcome to Sungold House. We hope you enjoy your stay with us in Barbados. We would like to draw your attention to the following housekeeping rules which have been put in place to assist you.
The number of guests to occupy each property will be limited to the maximum indicated at the time of booking. Unregistered guest will not be permitted to stay.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you and the members of your party do not behave in a way which disturbs, causes offence or risks damage to property belonging to others. In such circumstances, Krysnatash Investments Ltd reserves the right to terminate arrangements made on your behalf, in which case our responsibility to you ceases with immediate effect, and there will be no refunds, compensation or reimbursement of any costs or expenses you may incur as a result. Further, you will be liable to reimburse Krysnatash Investments Ltd. for any expenses whatsoever it may incur as a result of your behavior.
Your unit comes fully equipped with all the comforts of home. We ask that you take care of all items to the best of your ability. Airbnb will hold a security deposit of US$500 which will be returned to you withing 48 hours of departure as long as there is no damage.
The cost of air-conditioning is included in the accommodation price. Please note however that the units must only be used while you are in the property, with all windows and doors kept closed. Under no circumstances should the units be left on continuously when the property is unoccupied. Management reserves the right to enter vacant units and switch off units.
Management reserves the right to visit the property/unit at any time to undertake essential emergency repairs, and to enter the premises during your absence should the need arise.
Your Housekeeper is responsible for the cleaning of your rooms, living and dining areas, patios and bathrooms. She also does the laundry and ironing. Her hours are 9.00am to 1.00 pm.
Laundry will normally be returned to you the following day. If there are any items that you need washed and ironed urgently, please let the Housekeeper know. Dry Cleaning can be sent out as we do not do Dry Cleaning. Items that need Dry cleaning should not be put in the laundry. We cannot accept responsibility for items of "Dry Clean" or "Hand Wash Only" which are not clearly separated from other laundry.
Check in/Check Out Times:
Check in time is 3:00 p.m. and departure time is 12:00 noon. If we have no arrivals for your unit on the day of your departure, you are welcome to stay on until you absolutely have to leave for the airport. Where your unit is required, we will, if possible, relocate you to another unit until it's time for you to go. For those of you traveling with Virgin Airways, we can organize their "check in/chill out" service for you on the day of your departure.
Beach towels are provided, and will be laundered and changed on a daily basis. US$20.00 per lost beach towel will be deducted from your security deposit.
Any booking made or order placed by you, whether through the Owner's website, or otherwise, shall be deemed an offer by you to rent the property from Krysnatash Investments Ltd subject to these terms and conditions, and any amendments made hereafter.

The listing was accurate, as were other positive reviews I read prior to booking. Jan is quite kind and highly invested in making sure your trip is a great one. Speightstown is a cute little town that Jan showed us around the first day and she was always available by phone when we had a question. She helped us find out which restaurants are open at what times and also helped us with the fish market experience (highly recommended!).
There was only one thing that my husband and I would like improved: the shower did leak onto the floor in the bathroom because of a faulty rubber seal. Even with the little leak, we had the best time!
I have just recently returned from a 2 week stay at Sungold House and what a great experience it was. The photos of the apartment did not do it justice. It is far better when you arrive in person. Jan and her family could not have been better hosts and made me feel so welcome on arrival and all through my trip. This has been the best place I have visited and made so welcome it was brilliant!
Janlyn was friendly and helpful, and the apartment was as advertised. She was flexible in terms of check-out when there was no-one coming in right after us.
On a warm night the living room would not be that comfortable - that was the only drawback to the apartment. The air conditioning is fine for the bedroom (particularly with the door closed) but it does not push any cool air into the living room. For a couple using only the bedroom for sleeping that would not be a problem.
Janlyn and her husband Gary along with their family welcomed us to Sungold House for our six week stay in Barbados. You often hear of “Home from Home” but the warm welcoming family atmosphere that we have experienced has truly given us “Home from Home” memories and made our holiday the best ever in Barbados. We are independant travellers and have visited Barbados several times over the last 17 years our first visit in being in 1997. We are familiar with the geography of the island, some of the Bajan customs and of course have always enjoyed meeting the Island’s people who we have always found to be very friendly and always welcoming. For our planned extended holiday in 2014 we engaged in a more extensive search for an apartment that would give us a more local flavour and a new Barbados experience. We were lucky to find the web site of (website hidden) and after some investigation even more lucky to book the Croton Apartment, owned by Janlyn and Gary Skeete. We pushed the button to “book” in November nearly 5 months ahead and had no real idea what to expect. Our first contact with Janlyn via e mail left in no doubt that we had made a great decision to stay at Sungold House. Further contact with Janlyn via (website hidden) confirmed that this holiday was going to be different. The welcome smile, despite being over two hours delayed, on the face of Darius who collected us from the airport was repeated when Janlyn threw open her arms and gave us a welcoming hug at the door. Due to our delayed arrival we had no energy to shop but thoughtfully Janlyn had left us cheese, bread, eggs, milk and some tea in the fridge so we settled for a late, light meal and then bed. This is how our holiday started and continued. The morning cheery “hello” on Janlyn’s almost daily visit is only one of the happy memories that we have bought home to the UK. With more than adequate facilities we have enjoyed a peaceful convenient location and a safe, secure, very comfortable holiday base. We wanted to experience a new flavour of Barbados and Janlyn enthusiastically took over as tour guide with visits to the east coast and the Martins bay Thursday lunch (not to be missed). The Friday night weekly “fish fry” at Oistins with an unforgettably hilarious drive home by Janlyn, and on our last night Gary and the family took us to Speightstown and a small bar where the food ,drink and moreover the live Jazz music was fantastic. Janlyn and Gary also invited us to a Sunday lunch with friends and family and gave us a real taste of Bajan cusine going that extra mile with their hospitality and some new friends. We have also made new friends from the other two apartments and have enjoyed Rum o Clock sitting round the pool with the other guests during the sundown afternoon relaxation session....
The studio is well cared for and well equipped. We found its location ideal not to find ourselves in the midst of all the crowded areas whilst we could easily reach them if we wanted. There are very nice beaches and attractions nearby and it is in a quiet spot. The pool area is nice and spacious. Jan was a very attentive and caring host, and was there for us at any time, she is a very agreable person who made us feel really welcome.
When looking for an apartment in Barbados I was not sure whether to stay in popular St. Lawrence Gap or quiet Speighstown - I am glad I chose the second! It is great for those, like me, who do not like crowded places. I really enjoyed short chats with local people and not being surrounded by tourists. Heywoods beach is nice to get familiar with the Carribean Sea or if you simply do not feel like getting on a bus again to go to further bigger beaches. I moved a lot around the island, would definitely rent a car at least for a couple of days if I were a better driver, as I would not say that Speighstown is that convenient to travel from - it is good for trips to north, Bathsheba, Holetown, Bridgetown, but it gets a bit complicated if you want to go to Oistins, evening party in St. Lawrence Gap (there are no clubs in Speighstown) or especially eastern coast, the part of the island I loved most - then be prepared for a long bus journey. But it's just a matter of good time management and bus rides are fun there as well!
Croton Studio is very very very nice! Very clean and comfortable, with everything you would need. I highly recommend this place and Speighstown in general, especially with a car. I had an unforgettable time there. Thank you Jan!

Hi, I'm Barbadian by birth and spent several years in the UK. My husband Gary and I returned to Barbados in 1991 just after the birth of our first child Nathan. We have two daughters Krystal and Ashley. I worked for several hotels on the island, including Sandy Lane Hotel before we set up our business in 1998. We finished Sungold House in 2006 and have been welcoming guests ever since.I am definitely a people person and enjoy interacting with our guests from all over the world. We are a family business in every sense - the children are involved - Nathan may meet you at the airport or take your teenage/mid20's to night club; Krystal is great with children and enjoys babysitting. You will find our tomboy Ashley cleaning the pool (when she's in the mood) or helping out where ever she can.
