Interaction with Guests
The Host: Been Living in Costa Rica for 13 years, my experience and knowledge of the lifestyle, cultures and adventures is available to help others discover the Magic of La Fortuna and other parts of this special country.
La Fortuna is an enjoyable experience for all , with flowing rivers, natural hot springs, waterfalls, the 33 mile fresh water Lake Arenal, Cerro Chatto Crater Lake , butterfly gardens and a large variety of amenities. The many vacationers who find the Pure Vida return home feeling satisfied and relaxed.
Visitors can get to Fortuna by Bus, Car or Plane. The road from both of Costa Rica’s airports are paved, well marked and scenic. The plane is a 12 passenger that flies low allowing you to see Costa Rica’s beautiful landscapes; sit back and enjoy the many waterfalls, rivers and volcanoes.
The Arenal Volcano has its own National Park (Parque National Vulcan Arenal)
This almost 30,000 acre national park allows visitors to get an even better understanding of the Arenal Volcano and a much closer look. The Flora and fauna found it this primary rain forest is some of the newest on earth.
There are plenty of nature hikes in the area; the one I highly recommend is the climb to Cerro Chatto Lake. Vulcan Chatto is a dormant volcano; its crater is filled from hundreds of year of rain fall. It is an intense uphill hike to over 3,500 feet but I assure you it is worth every step of the way. Park hours are from 8am to 5pm
The La Fortuna Waterfall is another one of Mother Nature’s tours. Take a short 4klm hike from La Fortuna and you will be standing up top of the 230 foot waterfall. Gaze upon the power of water as it rolls of and dumps into the fresh rejuvenating pools bellow. Hike down the base to the pools to recharge, relax and take some photos. Waterfalls are open from 8-5pm
La Fortuna and all the amenities anyone could need is a 15 minute walk or 2 minute cab ride from the cabins.

No Smoking in Cabins no noise past 10
This property is a little piece of heaven. Spotless charming cabins, ours had a hammock on the balcony overlooking a scenery out of a postcard. Jonathan was amazing helping us plan before our arrival and while we were here. Always accessible. Felix and his family made us awesome breakfasts.
Our stay in Arenal was awesome. Jonathan is a great host , always accessible and a great resource for activities and information. He encouraged us to try river rafting and set us up with the best guide in the whole world and we will be ever so grateful for a fantastic experience. The cabins were rustic and simple as expected but the setting and the surroundings surpassed expectation. We loved staying in the cabins and Felix and his family took great care of us.
Jonathan was a super knowledgeable host and helped us set up our tours for the Arenal area - which we were super happy with all of them! We did white water rafting, zip-lining, and hiking. The cabinas were very nice. Felix makes an excellent breakfast each morning and was also a great host. You'll definitely enjoy your stay here. Just a short distance from downtown Fortuna.
The description of the cabin was accurate. It definitely was a rustic cabin where you might see a bug or two, but for the price it was a good deal. The cabin had a nice deck with a hammock and a great view. The cabins were a close distance to walk to town. Felix, the owner of the cabin, was very helpful. They provided breakfast and did laundry for us - which was great as we were right in the middle of the trip. Jonathan was very helpful. He came to visit us the first day and set us up with tours during out time there. He also checked in with us to see if we needed anything throughout our time in La Fortuna.
The cabin was very big and we had a great time. Jonathon and Felix were both greats hosts. Thanks for the amazing memories.
We originally had this booked for 3 nights but ended up leaving a day early. This is not a reflection on the property which is lovely. The weather was not great during our stay and being in such a rustic place did not suit our needs. With that being said, if you like to rough it a little, you will love it here.
The service was excellent. The gentleman who is the manager of the place what very helpful. We needed to get some clothing washed and they did it for us. He stated that there was no charge but of course we paid him.
We also appreciated the fact that there were so many birds on the premises and they facilitated having them around by leaving areas they could feed.
If you are okay with roughing it and going without hot water, I recommend this place. For me, roughing it is usually the Holiday Inn Express. This was a bit much for me but a nice place just the same.
Your review is appreciated, note to other guest who may be reading this review: there is hot water, via electric heater and the coil needs time to heat the water, if the water pressure is set to high it does not allow the water enough time to heat up to the desired temperature. I am here to help, if you have any question at any time please let me know, if you need more bedding, more kitchen supplies whatever, just ask and I will do everything I can to make it happen.
We arrived in rain and left early. The cabins are basic and were not really set up for a family of five who wanted to mostly self cater. The owners were really kind and did everything they could to help out. The breakfast was large and the birds were beautiful. The owner Felix feeds them - tame hummingbirds! Jonathan contacted us over the phone immediately on arrival to help out, as Felix does not speak any English. Jonathan was also helpful with our schedule changes. Wi-fi worked better during the day than at night.
