The Space

Come and enjoy some heritage luxury. An authentic Port Fairy blue stone cottage with all the modern appointments you could enjoy. It's the perfect setting for that "Romantic Getaway" or the peaceful indulgent retreat you've been dreaming about. Imagine sitting back in the luxurious corner spa, on the first night, sipping the complimentary wine and chocolates, then relaxing in front of the open flame gas log fire.
The cottage, built in 1860, is National Trust listed, but completely renovated inside tastefully to provide modern conveniences but true to its age old charm.
It has two bathrooms and two bedrooms. The main kitchen is fully functional with all cooking utensils, hot plates, microwave and dishwasher; complete with fridge and tea/coffee making facilities. The second bedroom has its own small separate kitchenette.
A short stroll across parkland takes you to the premier South Beach and the famous Pea Soup. It's only two blocks from the shops and restaurants. Stroll another hundred metres and sit on the Wharf or wander a little further across the causeway to Griffith Island for spectacular ocean views and our wonderful Lighthouse.
If it's the world famous Folk and Roots festival you love, we are only a hundred metres from the front gate.
There's ample off street parking for cars or even a boat if you're interested in Port Fairy's famous fishing.

  • A lovely and luxurious place to stay in a nice quiet but very central location. Wish we could have stayed longer. Well set up for 2 couples but equally it worked for our family of 4.

  • This is a magical little cottage which is more spacious than it looks from the front. Two couple could easily enjoy staying there. We were sorry we didn't have more time to spend there. It is close to the shops and handy for the beach/river.

  • Brady cottage is an authentic Port Fairy bluestone cottage with a charming facade. The main entry opens into a period living room resplendent with an impressive library lining the walls either side of the gas fireplace. The lounge is comfortable but low to the ground so if you have trouble getting out of this lounges, be prepared. The main bedroom also compliments the period with a four poster bed and an adjoining large ensuite. The pine themed kitchen is adequate and provided what we needed to have dinner at the cottage on our first evening. The rear of the cottage has an addition that houses the second bedroom and has its own small bathroom with spa and separate shower. This looks like it would have been another self contained zone as there are cupboards and sink in the second bedroom. We didn't have occasion to use this amenities.
My guess is that back area is probably over ten years old so lower the expectations if you're thinking 'granite and glass splash backs'! That's not what we came to Port Fairy for! On the domestic side, that cartage was spotlessly clean and the linen and bathroom provisions exceeded expectations. Equal first prize goes to its location and our hosts. Shops are within walking distance, the cottage backs on to a reserve which provides walking access to south beach and plenty of good restaurants are easily accessible form this location. Our hosts, Damien and Adele were excellent particularly ensuring the place was presented well and so responsive both on emails and my phone calls. Port Fairy is a beautiful place to stay and there is a lot to do, particularly if you like the outdoors.

  • This cottage was a delight to stay in, full of history and spotlessly clean. Some lovely welcoming touches added to the experience. Damien was easy to contact and always helpful. Port Fairy surpassed our expectations.

  • We had a super stay at this extremely comfortable cottage. Even though we did not meet, Damien did phone a few times to advise us about getting the key etc. And later to make sure that we were comfortable. We would highly recommend this accommodation.

  • Thanks Damien and Adele for your welcome and allowing us to share your lovely cottage. Everything required was at hand and we had a wonderfully comfortable stay for an all too short overnight stay. We will definitely book again next time we visit Port Fairy

  • We were a set of couples up from Melbourne for the weekend and so thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thank you Damien and Adele! The home is lovely and a perfect spot for socializing in the living room and kitchen or getting a great night's sleep. The bathrooms are both quite large and updated with lovely amenities. For the price and our needs, this was an ideal home away from home. Thanks for your hospitality!
