My partner and I stayed (unfortunately) only one night here. The directions provided by Annalisa were perfect and we found the place easily, and were welcomed warmly. The garden is perfect. It was spring, the wisteria was blooming, the fruit trees were blooming, and there was a stunning view across the neighbouring vineyard to the hills around Siena. We arrived about 4pm on a Saturday, planning to then head into Siena for dinner and the evening. When we arrived here, we didn't want to leave. Instead, we popped briefly into Siena to get some supplies, came back and cooked dinner in the kitchenette. It has everything you need. We sat in the garden with a wine, watching the sun set over the hills, and then cooked our pasta. It couldn't have been better. Thank you!
The property and its 360 degree views are stunning and there is a lot of interesting history of the property. Annalisa wasn't there but was very helpful and attentive ever at phone's reach and Graciela was a great host living up to her name! The apartments are varied so check which one you may get. It's a short drive to Siena which seemed to be the closest open restaurants we could find at this time of year. Thank you Graciela for your kindness.
My wife insisted on one night in the countryside while we visited Siena, and Villa Certano was perfect. We caught a bus from Siena, unfortunately we missed the 33 and had to take the 30 instead, which meant a 1km walk to Strada di Certano and another 800m to the house.
When we got there, Graziella greeted us warmly, quickly flexing when the room we had reserved was being repainted. We actually licked into a nicer room, but still used the little garden from the original room for breakfast. Graziella speaks Spanish, Italian, and English, and was just lovely. She shared ideas for walks, where to get food (we ended up getting take out pizza for dinner since we didn't have a car and the nearest restaurant was 3km away along a windy road without sidewalks), and gave us a tour of the villa, including the history. Talking to Graziella was a definite highlight, but the surroundings were also incredible. And only 6km from Siena.
We would definitely stay here again!
I had a wonderful stay at Certano. Lovely hosts, quiet and pieceful place - I stayed there to write a script and it was very calm and inspiring.
The apartment is great, very clean and cozy, and the setting simply breathtaking! The villa up the hill holds little secrets such as the 8th century precious church, the ancient cellar or the painted rooms inside the main house (with a very nice trompe-l'oeil). Ms. Annalisa Baldassarrini has been very kind and prompt in every contact we had, and Ms. Graciela, who welcomes the guests and arranges everything, is enchanting. The place is really very close to Siena, surrounded by a beautiful landscape. I guess in the spring and summer it must be at its best, although we would recommend this solution in every season! Mrs Pirotto in charge of the apartments extends a warm welcome. Place is wonderful. Apartment is nice.
However, don't forget to foresee for heating intake, 20€ for a small apartment for 2 nights in December (despite we paid attention not to heat too much), add to that 1,5€ per day per person of local taxes.
A lovely tiny house with all you need for a romantic or quiet escape, surrounded by a gorgeous landscape and very close to Siena. It was a pleasant stay for us and our dog, thank you!
The villa in which the apartment is located is lovely and has a great view over Siena. The apartment is small and simple but just enough for a couple's needs. the pull-out sofa bed is very comfortable and there is a lovely garden!
for 5 euros a person you can also have breakfast in a lovely country-style kitchen with a fireplace!
We received a very kind welcome.
It is a great place to stay, 5-10 minutes drive from the city center and very easy to reach.
We had a great time and would love to come back!
thank you for your review, which I much appreciated, especially the part on the pull-out sofa because people are a bit suspicious on it sometimes!
We are very happy when people like you appreciate the beauty of Tuscany and our place and we'll certainly welcome you heartily if you decide to come back.
All the best to you both.
