About this listing

We have a bright little bachelor suite with a queen size bed, a claw foot tub, a kitchenette and a desk. WiFi is available. * Cellular service may be patchy or unavailable on some phones *
The kitchen has an under cabinet fridge, two burner hot plate, a Webber BBQ, a French press coffee maker and a toaster oven. We provide some light breakfast items for your first morning. The entrance is separate and private.
The suite is located on the ground floor of our house and our house is located 8 km from Nelson and 2 km from a regional park with a sandy beach that gets lots of late sun.
We have a view of, but are not on the water- it's a short walk or drive away. Our driveway and yard are steep- if you have mobility issues, our place may not be for you.
Our home ski hill is Whitewater - which is about 30 km away. Red Mountain is just 60 km away so our place is a pretty good split between them both. Kootenay snow is famous and so is the food.
We have a four year old who can be lively after 8 am and quiet after 9 pm.
Our house is close enough to Nelson to feel like you are there but far enough away to know that you are not.
Interaction with Guests
We are a family and we enjoy welcoming friendly guests to our place. We are open to interaction with guests but we are often busy. We want to respect your privacy while you are here, but we are not a hotel, and expect some friendly interaction :)
Please give advance notice of your arrival time.
Our little suite is equipped with a simple kitchenette and you are welcome to use it however we would request that you not fry food or cook greasy meat etc. inside. There is a small barbecue under cover just outside you are welcome to use. Also please dont use candles or smoke inside.
Our driveway is steep; if its snowy or icy and you don't have snow tires and 4X4, please park at the top just off the road.
The directions made it very easy to find. Friendly and very accomodating host ( questions what we want for breakfast before, let the key for us) Very secluded clean apartment, with privacy and bathroom ensuite. Attractive patio and garden with BBC. Would love to stay longer, but couldn't. Thank you.
Had a nice time really great hosts, nice and quite location, the place is pretty small but organized and tidy.
Nancy and Jesse were very sweet and welcoming and so was their son Fin and dog lilac. I very much enjoyed staying at their cozy place. I had every thing I needed and it was the perfect distance to town.
We had such an amazing stay at Nancy's home. If you're thinking of visiting Nelson and looking for some serenity and zen then this is the place for you. Definitely a 5 star experience ! Would most definitely stay there again!
This is a fabulous, quiet spot in Nelson… exactly what we were looking for and just what we needed! Our hosts were gracious and happy to have us stay with them - even on such short notice! - and made us feel very welcome… Nancy even share some amazing home-made quinoa muffins with us - so cool! Thanks again, guys, and we wish you all the best!
A wonderful family in a beautiful spot. Very friendly and helpful. These guys really made our stay in Nelson awesome. Thanks again!
As always, Nancy, Jesse and Lilac were friendly and accomodating; breakfast was available in the suite, and they gave us towels for our visit ot Ainsworth -all really nice little gestures that go a long way.
Seeing the area in the spring is a nice surprise too, their location on the water is stunning and so much nicer than a banal hotel room.
About the Host, Nancy
We are an active family of 3 (actually 4 - we have a sweet shepherd cross who was mis-named Lilac). She is friendly and fun.
We love Lilac and we love to play outside. Jesse and I have both traveled a bit and between us we can manage in English, Spanish and French. Our son Finn is 4. We thought since we are home for another while yet, it would be fun to have some visitors from lands distant and close. Welcome!
