Mary was a delight; very warm and friendly and made us feel right at home. She is a true pioneer with extraordinary talents: home building , gardening, quilting and artwork. The bed was extremely comfortable and this was the best time of year to visit the area; her lilacs, dogwoods and fruit trees were in bloom. Mary was very knowledgeable about the area and gave us solid hiking advice. Breakfasts were terrific too, and we feel we made a new friend in Nevada City that we will revisit. Thank you for a great time!
Mary is a lovely host, so interesting and personally talented. She paints and draws beautifully and is such an interesting person altogether. Though we came for Nevada City, we left realizing that the real gem is Mary. We loved her place, her pond, her art...this was a wow.
Mary was very welcoming, kind and an interesting person to talk with! The room was spacious and comfortable with a nice, conncecting sun porch.
Staying at Mary's wonderful place was our first Airbnb experience. We were completely comfortable and Mary is very friendly and made sure we felt at home. Slept great on the bed, everything was spotlessly clean, and the setting out in the country was very peaceful. Having our own private bathroom was important to us so we were excited to find her listing. The garden is beautiful, we heard frogs and woke to birds chirping. Breakfast homemade by Mary was delicious and she was great at accommodating our preferences.
We are so happy we found her, we had a great weekend and have been telling our friends they should stay there if they travel to Nevada City! Mary obviously cares about providing a great experience, not just a place to sleep and that caring comes through every step of the way.
Thank you Mary!!!! We'll be back!
This bnb was wonderful, from the setting amid a forest, to the comfy suite, and the hosts helpful suggestions for things to do, both in sun on our first day, then in rain on our second. Very peaceful with Mary's paintings all around and both sisters' gorgeous quilts.
We had such a lovely stay. The house is homey, but still felt privately tucked away. The view around the property was lovely. A quick 5 minute drive into town. Yummy breakfasts. Definitely recommended!
We loved everything about our visit with Mary and Milady. The space was perfect for us, plenty of privacy, perfectly clean and well kept, nice, roomy, clean bathroom and best of all, the wonderful king bed with a great mattress and lovely linens. But really the best part was connecting with Mary and Mil. What interesting and engaging people! They are incredibly creative, adventurous individuals. We really enjoyed talking with them and seeing all of their great art.
Hi, My name is Mary and I've lived in this area for 35 years. I'm retired , but worked as a botanist for the Tahoe National Forest and in the forestry industry. I share the house with my sister Miladie (she's on the left in the photo). Mil moved here from the swamps of southern Florida where she ran a photography gallery. We are fun, happy people who enjoy the natural world, new adventures, gardening, quilting, painting, laughing and fine dark chocolate. We like hosting and enjoy getting to know and catering to our wonderful guests.
