I love the fact we have Mexican neighbors as well as some ex pats who have built homes on the street. It's a nice blend. Since the Mexican neighbors don't speak English I love walking out the door and practicing Spanish with them. Our street is also a dead end so there is very little traffic.
Taxi is 30 pesos ($2.50) from the house to town. Also a very short walk to town. San Miguel is great for walking and to be able to walk back to the house after a delicious meal is always a nice option.

We just returned from a magical 5 day 4 night vacation in SMA. It was our first time and we love the city. What made it so much more than we had anticipated was the beautiful home we rented from Frank and heather. Its a gorgeous, sprawling, very luxurious brand new home they shared no expense in building. Everything about the house was quality. It was furnished beautifully, lovely art, and the fixtures everywhere were stunning. The house has at least a 1000 lights to set any type of mood your in.
The directions to get to the house were difficult if you don't know the town so I would suggest taking the driver Frank offered to have pick us up. We needed a car. If you do as well take a small one the garage is tricky to navigate.
It was so much fun to come home to the sanctuary of this oasis in the mountains and relax and take in the view from any number of private terraces. The outdoor shower is a great place to start your morning with coffee close by. The only sounds you hear up there are the kids playing in the neighborhood and the birds.
Thanks for being so much help Frank with my 1000's of questions. I think I found a few places to eat for you to try now. We will be back.

We really enjoyed our stay at Francis & Heather's property in San Miguel - it's everything that's noted and more. The pictures really don't do the property justice - there's lots of space over three floors all with plenty of natural sunlight and incredible views of the city.
The home is situated up the hill - which makes for a small hike but worth it once you walk you in the front door - we would never stay anywhere else but on the hill because of this. It's really impactful.
The kitchen appliances, furnishings and overall outfit was top-notch. The whole home is extremely functional and designed beautifullly.
The only challenge was checking in and not having much direct contact as Heather and Francis were traveling themselves. It would have been nice to know what features the house had, how to operate a few bits and pieces and a basic go-to guide. The property staff were incredibly responsive, lovely and attentive to our every need. Only surprise was not knowing when the cleaner would come - often you'd have them show up without any notice.
All in all, 10/10 experience and would highly recommend to any future traveler.
This property was everything it was advertised to be. We totally enjoyed our whole experience. The staff were great. The view was beautiful and the city charming. I would recommend this property in a heart beat. Thanks You for a awesome stay.
We spent six nights at this lovely house overlooking San Miguel de Allende over Easter. Given how busy the town was, we loved being away from the centre and the views over the city. The house has been beautifully decorated and it was a very comfortable place for us (4 adults and 2 kids to stay).
Our visit to San Miguel was special but what it made it a treasure for us was our stay at Heather's house.
Over the top gorgeous with spectacular views overlooking all of SMA.
Attention to detail-and comfort- and location.
We would ONLY stay here again if we venture back to San Miguel.
Heather was very accommodating and the home was beautiful. The rooms were comfortable and we got a good taste of how the locals live.

About the Host, Frank
I live on the northshore of Kauai and enjoy traveling to my home in San Miguel de Alllende and my original home of Boulder Colorado. There is nothing so special as waking up in San Miguel to the church bells. Sitting on the terrace outside my bedroom drinking coffee as I look down and across the beautiful town. Aloha
