Spacious private guest suite with luxurious queen bed and ensuite spa shower. Our stunning historic Philadelphia row home is striking distance from the Art Museum, Barnes Foundation, and Museum District. We're a short walk to bucolic Fairmount Park and the Schukyll River banks, with easy access to Center City.
Our home has a gorgeous, high-ceiled living space with heaps of original features. Feel free to read a book and relax in the beautiful living room. You can also help yourself to a complementary glass of sherry from the decanter!
Our guest suite is spacious and has a very comfortable queen bed perfect for two. You have an en suite all to yourselves with a fantastic spa shower (note that there's no bath).
You have a electric kettle, tea and coffee in your room to help make you feel at home. There's an iron and ironing board, and a hairdryer too.
We don't serve breakfast, and there's no access to kitchen or dining facilities. But there are countless great eateries that we can recommend. You'll be spoilt for choice!
We have a twin inflatable mattress that we can put in the room for a child for a $15 surcharge. And you are welcome to bring your travel cot for littler ones too.
For a small fee ($7 per load, including detergent), you're welcome to use our washer and dryer facilities.
Interaction with Guests
We're pretty busy and independent, so may not be around much. That said, we love meeting new people from all over the world! And we're happy to help with any questions or advice about places to visit or to eat.
NEIGHBORHOOD - ACTIVITIES
We are moments from Philadelphia's beautiful Museum District, Fairmount Park and the Schukyll Riverbanks, where you can walk and rent bikes.
We're also walking distance to Center City and leafy Rittenhouse Square (around 15-20 minutes walk).
NEIGHBORHOOD - DINING
We also have excellent neighborhood cafes and restaurants right here in Fairmount. Organic food at Fare, delicious leaf teas and sandwiches at OCF Cafe, crepes and cappuccinos at Cafe L'Aube... We can tell you where is great to go! Plus we're just 5 minutes walk from Marc Vetri's chic Osteria and Alla Spina restaurants, and Stephen Starr's delicious Route 6 seafood place on North Broad Street.
NEIGHBORHOOD - AMENITIES
It's a 15 minute walk to Wholefoods. There's a post office, pharmacy, convenience store and gas station right here in Fairmount too.
We're 1.5 blocks walk to Fairmount Subway (Broad Street Line). There are also buses into Center City right from the end of the block. Taxis are plentiful and cheap.
But we love walking and cycling most of all - Philadelphia is a great city to explore.
There's plenty of free on-street parking, so no need to worry about scary parking rates!
Other Things to Note
This room has a dresser / chest of drawers just for you to put your belongings in. Please note, however that the closet / wardrobe contains our private belongings. Thanks!
Also, we have a young black labrador dog. He's confined to the back of the kitchen, and doesn't come into contact with any parts of the house that you do. But just wanted to make you aware!
Please note we tend to prefer bookings of two nights or more over weekends, particularly during high season. However, please feel free to make a booking request and we will do our best to accommodate your needs.
And finally, a few house rules, which we really appreciate you respecting:
•We don’t allow additional overnight guests, unless notified / requested at time of booking.
•We only take bookings from verified Airbnb members with a completed profile and photo.
•No shoes in the house please. There’s a nook for you to leave them by the front door. Also, please don’t drag trolley bags along the floor. This is to protect our beautiful original hardwood floors.
•Please be sure to double lock the front door when coming in or out of the house so that we can all sleep soundly.
•Please be quiet and respectful between 11pm and 7am. We want our home to be a restful and relaxing environment for all.
•We don’t serve breakfast, and there’s no access to kitchen or dining facilities. But we do have a great list of fantastic local eateries to share!
•Please don’t keep food in your bedroom – thank you.
•Lastly, please do take care when going up or coming down the stairs (particularly in socks!), and bear in mind that this is an old property. The wooden floors are so beautifully finished that they can feel a bit slippy. Be sure to use the handrail!
Thanks so much for your co-operation.
Beautiful house and spacious room, with a fabulous en-suite bathroom. We didn't expect such a standard. It was a pleasure to experience living in a fantastic, perfectly maintained and functional, gorgeous Philly house.
Sophie made us feel at home and gave us great advice for the choice of a restaurant for our special Valentine dinner. She was very friendly and welcoming, without being in any way intrusive.
I highly recommend this host and BnB, especially if you have a car as it is not completely central if you rely on foot and public transport.
This was my first airbnb and have to say it was a wonderful experience. The hosts, Sophie and Nic, were very accommodating in helping me navigate around the city and giving restaurant recommendations. The rooms and bathroom were spotless and exactly as describe.
Mes hôtes m'ont offert un verre à boire. Il y a aussi une bouilloire et du thé et café soluble dans la chambre, ce qui est pratique pour le soir ou le matin.
Truly a pleasant getaway! The house and room are both beautiful and very convenient. The neighborhood is lovely as well and Sophie & Nic provided some great recommendations on food and places to see.
We couldn't have wished for more.
Great space at a really nice location. Very warm and inviting place and the room was fantastic. The bathroom and shower were clean and spacious. Overall, just a great place to stay in Philly.
This is a awesome place. Loved the location. The room was perfect, clean, nice big bathroom. Downstairs a living room full of great literature. Sophie was very kind and helpful, she received me with a big smile and we had very pleasant conversation. It was very easy to interact and plan things at arrival and departure. Perfect place to stay.
Sophie and Nick were very friendly and welcoming, making it easy for us to obtain the keys to "check in". They provided useful advise regarding restaurants and activities in the area. Their home is gracious and the bedroom and bath we had were elegant and comfortable. The Fairmount area is wonderful - in walking distance of great restaurants, museums, and parks.
