About this listing
Spacious, very charming and sunny apartment in the heart of Antwerp. Vintage, fashion, museums, history, little squares, charming streets and nice resto’s are all within walking distance. Welcome in the most attractive neighborhood of Antwerp.
Very bright, sunny apartment in the famous antique street of Antwerp. Wanna feel like a bohemian? If you ask me, this is the best location you can have in Antwerp. You can't have it more central, more trendy, more vintage. Really, take a look at the pictures, where I point out the distance to several highlights and a few of my favorite spots.
Although you feel Antwerp's heart beating, you will have a really good sleep at night. The double bed, in the back of the apartment, is perfect. This place is perfect for one or two people. As a guest you can use all the facilities: spacious bathroom with bath, shower, washing machine, a fully equipped kitchen with oven, stove and dishwasher, iPod station and free wifi. More features are: it's sunny, at the first floor, you will overlook a small square, A-location, 80m2 big, huge terrace in the back, wifi.
My home is situated in an easygoing neighborhood where the keyword is: vintage. You are in de famous Kloosterstraat, which means that you're surrounded by antique & vintage shops and all kinds of cool places to have breakfast, lunch or dinner. My house is not really trendy or modern, but it has a sunny and worldly vibe. I exchange houses a lot - see me as of working nomad who loves to live and work in inspiring cities and places - and everyone who has stayed here would love to come back, because they loved the authentic feel, which they describe as: travellers feel, yogi feel, journalist/writers feel.
My place is excellent for citytrippers and bohemians, but as an extra, it's really very convenient if you have the intention to work as well. There's a big desk in the frontroom. It overlooks a small square which is most inspiring.
My house is full of natural light, which you can't really see at the pictures: sorry, too much back light. The kitchen, sleeping room and bathroom don't have that bright light as my living room, but don't worry, you won't need it, it are good vibe spaces too.
Bon vivant, have a nice stay.
Frontroom living, back room living, kitchen, sleeping room, bathroom, terrace. More people do live in this building, my place is at the first floor.
Interaction with Guests
I will be there to welcome you and give you some good tips about my city. Afterwards you'll have the apartment to yourselves.
Welcome in 'de Kloosterstraat', a great neighborhood and hotspot of Antwerp. Have you already seen the pictures, where I point out the distance to several of Antwerp's highlights and soms of my favorite bars, coffee places and small restaurants? Please, check it out to feel the vibe.
If you step out of the doorway there are lots of nice breakfast-, lunch and dinner places. Most of all great attractions (historical or modern) are at walking distance and otherwise the metro is a five minutes walk.
My street and the surrounding area is dotted with vintage-, fashion- and trendy shops, bookshops, great markets (big and small), musea, cosy cafe's and bars, uncountable terraces at big and little squares.
The river - de Schelde - is your back garden. I provide campsite chairs or picknick blankets if you want to sit along the riverside. There's also a little park around the corner and a basketball field (great to watch them play eating an ice-cream).
Overview of nearby attractions at walking distance: Grote Markt, Cathedral, Antique Street, Groenplaats, 't Zuid, FoMu, MoMu, Museum van de Hedendaagse Kunsten, Plantijn Moretius Museum, Museum van de Schone Kunsten, Modenatie, Kammenstraat, Vrijdagmarkt, Vreemdelingenmarkt, kruidentuintje (botanic garden), MAS, all shopping streets (Meir, Keyserlei, Kammenstraat, Nationale Straat, Huidevetterstraat, Schuttershofstraat, Hopland, Kloosterstraat), voetgangerstunnel, Linkeroever, Henry Conscienceplein, Toneelhuis, Schouwburg, Cinema Zuid, Cartoons and many more, the list is endless.

Other Things to Note
Are you a yogi, a freelancer or a working nomad? We share the same spirit. I'll bet you will love this place. Ask me for directions to vegetarian places, yoga schools and great co-working spots.
Respect my hospitality and my belongings, my friendly neighbors, the lovely people of Antwerp and the shiny soul of my place and area.
The flat is as bright and welcoming as in the pictures, internet works wonderfully and the bed is comfortable. These were the things that we were more concerned about and Ireen's flat is 5 star! The only drawback is that from time to time there is an unpleasant smell in the flat, but it may also be the sewage system in the town. We did not meet Ireen personally, but she was quick responding by email and her friend was very nice welcoming us in the flat. Location is SUPERB, the area is secure and very central, but still quiet and the antique neighbourhood is really cool.
Ireen's apartment was perfect for my break in Antwerp. The apartment was central and in a great area for shops, cafes and restaurants, but it still felt like a local neighbourhood. The apartment was spacious and calm and the large terrace was great for sitting out in the sun.
Irene has been a charming host, very helpful and flexible.
Her apartment is ideally located in a quiet area 5 min walk from the market place and 1 min from the river
The apartment is lovely and very well arranged
The bedroom is very very quiet with windows on the terrace .
Everything was perfect. Great location, super nice, flexible and attentive host. And the terrace was a life saver during the heatwave. I would definitely stay there again if I visit Antwerp again.
Perfect stay at Irene's place with a perfect location in a virbant and cosy area of Antwerp! We enjoyed the airy and bright apartment and Irene's hospitality mucho! (:
The welcome was fantastic, the apartment was just as described and the location was first class.
About the Host, Ireen
Hi, I'm a writer, traveller, trainer, wonderer and yoga-practitioner. My place will be unforgettable if you look for a positive and inspiring vibe indoors and outdoors.
I love Antwerp a lot because this city gives me loads of space. It's busy but quiet, it has a relaxed atmosphere and - as you will notice - people enjoy a high quality of life. The fact that I find this city inspiring has to do a lot with my neighborhood. I couldn't be at a better location.
Because I'm a freelance writer I work alone a lot. Therefore I need to live in a place where I'm surrounded by nice coffee places and people. I'm so happy I have found it. Here, I just step out of the doorway and many many many interesting locations are within walking distance. I'm in the middle of it, but it's not crowded at all. This neighborhood, my home, they both have that natural and inspiring feel I need to be creative.
Except for Airbnb I do home exchanges a lot. Lots of working nomads (free souls, people who carry their work in their laptop so they can be productive just anywhere) have stayed here for a longer period of time. If that's your intention too, know that you will feel most welcome. You will love my desk which is located in the frontroom. It's huge, full of bright light and you can overlook the square. You will have no excuse, this place dares you. In the case you're fad up to sit here working alone, don't worry there are a lot of very nice co-working coffee bars around.
Travellers, citylovers, working nomads, yogi's, intuitive people, new economy-people they all love my place. If you're a yogi I know lots of yoga schools by experience and great places for vegetarian food too. Just ask.
I'll bet you will enjoy my place but please book and check it out yourself :)
My home is 85 euro a night. We will make a suitable price if you want to stay for a longer period of time. This summer (July 25 - August 22) you can even rent my place as your summer residence.
Welcome to Antwerp,
Best regards, Ireen
