Enjoy the marvels of yurt living in a quiet and natural setting while only a short drive to town. You'll be treated to a cozy (REAL) king bed, desk, place to relax and a full, private bathroom (NOTE: the bathroom is a short - 200 ft - walk from the yurt to the main house). This is luxury CAMPING, not a luxury hotel. We welcome adventurous singles, couples and friends from all races, religions, gender identities and backgrounds.

The space
Is tiny house or yurt living for you? Come check it out! You'll be treated to many comforts but still be in sync with nature. If you think of this as camping first, you'll love the luxury. If you think of it as luxury first, you may find it challenging.

BEDS: The king bed is amazingly comfortable with a plush topper. We have a cot with a thick inflatable camp pad and linens if you have a third person ($10/night for third guest).

THE BATHROOM IS NOT IN THE YURT! You have access to a full PRIVATE bathroom in the main house with a shower, bath tub, sink and toilet. There is an emergency camping toilet in the yurt in case you don't want to walk in the middle of the night. You are responsible for emptying and cleaning the camp toilet if you use it.

WIFI AND MEDIA: While you are invited to slow down at every moment, from making drip coffee to watching the deer roam by, we understand you live life. You have WiFi access, but it goes in and out and may be slow. When it works, there is a TV for Netflix, Hulu or your other streaming media accounts (via Apple TV - no cable or satellite service). The yurt has surround sound speakers, amplifier and you can play your own music because...that's how we roll.

NOTE: WiFi is UNRELIABLE here and you may not be able to stream movies. Truly depends on the day. Bring a book.

HEAT/AC: We have a wood-burning stove that is your source of heat. We provide wood and will help you build the fires if you're not used to a wood burning stove.

The summers can be hot. We have misters and shade trees to help you stay cool. There is a ceiling fan in the yurt that helps the indoors stay a bit cooler.

KITCHEN/EATING: The yurt has a pour over coffee maker, regular coffee (decaf on request), toaster and hot water boiler. There is a propane BBQ available outdoors.

You can rent a CAMP KITCHEN KIT for $25. It includes a 2 burner propane stove, camp cooking pots and pans, cooking utensils and mixing bowls. We also have some easy to make recipes if camp cooking is new to you.

PARKING: In dry weather, most cars can make it right next to the yurt. However, if weather is wet or you have a VERY LOW CLEARANCE sports car, you may need to park at the bottom of the hill and walk a few hundred feet to the yurt. Pack accordingly.

Camping first. Luxury added.

Where you’ll be

Grass Valley, California, United States

The neighborhood is rural country. People enjoy their quiet space an you can do the same. You can walk for miles from the yurt, but you will not run into your favorite coffee shop or restaurant - that is a short 10 min drive to town where you will find everything you need. In downtown Grass Valley or Nevada City, you'll find restaurants, treat shops, historic bars and quaint street fairs throughout the year.

I'm born and raised in Northern California, just north of San Francisco. I used to dream of living in the mountains, having a mini-farm and enjoying life. So...my husband and I finally moved to the Sierra Foothills a few years ago. We have both fallen in love with watching the land settle, the trees grow and apparently raking the leaves. We now have 6 goats...and I sold my company to start training dogs (watch for Airbnb Dog experiences soon!) When I travel, I'm usually solo. I'm quiet and easy and love to brainstorm about what's possible in this world. My driving question in life is: How can we make this/life/situation even BETTER? If you stay with us, you're welcome to join us on the deck for AM coffee or PM wine. We're happy to chat and answer any questions or leave you to yourself to enjoy the area. I love rustic elegance - where comfort meets nature. So, that's why we host in our yurt.

During your stay

We live on site in the main house. You may hear us (not see us) through the curtain when you come in to use your private entrance and private bathroom. We are always available to answer questions, give tips on where to hike, eat or play - but we won't bother you. We have a dog that tends to bark when you enter, but she can't access your private bathroom area.

That said, we live our summers on the deck. If we're BBQ'n, sipping wine or drinking coffee outside, you are welcome to come over to join us. You decide.
