3rd floor bedroom with PRIVATE bathroom/shower. Modern townhouse, close to DC Metro. Wi-Fi/TV in room. Walk to restaurants/shopping. Street parking available. Kitchen/fridge available to share.
We have a friendly, well behaved dog (Belle) who loves people but will not be in your private space.
Cozy third floor location offers awesome privacy. Tons of storage space if you need it. Two big windows with adjustable "black out" blinds so you can choose to "let the sunshine in" or snooze late in comfortable quietude. Third floor has it's own climate control. Adjacent room great for a yoga mat or two. Full closet with all the hangers you'll need. Comfy reading chair and a selection of books and movies to enjoy.
You can roam the whole house and share our great kitchen, fire up the grill and enjoy the front porch or backyard at your leisure. Plenty of room to store food/drinks. Whip up an espresso or a hot cup of tea.
We are keeping our bedroom, bathroom and office on the 2nd floor private.
We're new at this, but our intention is to be available to the extent our guests are interested in hanging out. Happy to share our experience with the city, where and how to go, what's new, what's old and good, who's playing where, etc.
Most likely we will be around during our guests' stay but will make sure everyone has the space they want/need to get the most out of their stay.
Petworth is a great mix of quiet residential and happening new eating and shopping experiences, all within walking distance of our home. We are very close to a Capitol Bike Share stand and about 3 blocks or so from a Zip Car station. The Metro is about a 7 minute walk which will get you most places in the city in 20-30 minutes.
We love DOMKU. Scandinavian/Eastern European fair in a cool, funky environment (1/2 block away). CHEZ BILLY is a French bistro with a nice lounge. The PETWORTH CITIZEN is a brand new restaurant about a 1/2 block away as well, featuring pub food. QUALIA COFFEE is our favorite local coffee shop. They roast their own beans in a funky, laid back setting (Hipster alert!).
Rock Creek Cemetery is about a 20 minute walk but it is totally worth visiting if you're into amazing, historic cemeteries. Many, many interesting 'guests', huge vaults and monuments. DC's oldest cemetery (I think!).
Super convenient location to access all types of public transportation. 7 minute walk to the DC Metro (Green/Yellow Lines). From Reagan International it's a straight shot on the DC Metro Yellow Line to the Georgia Avenue/Petworth Metro Station which is just minutes from our house. Dulles and BWI are more complicated but we can help figure that out if you need us to.
Convenient Bus Stops within minutes. Capitol Bike Share 1/2 block away and Zip Car about 3 blocks away.
Parking is not included but street parking is typically available and we have 1 guest car pass for use.
We have a well behaved dog who will be an enthusiastic part of the welcoming committee but will otherwise give you your space (unless bribed with a treat). The Room is located on the 3rd Floor which requires walking up 3 flights of stairs. This is probably not suitable for anyone with any ambulatory difficulties. Our house is not "Child Proof"
Friendly and accom. couple room was perfect had own space and was very private. Basically a flat to myself with breakfast laid out each morning and cheese and crackers and a beer on my return. great first experience with airbnb.
Chris and Jane are very caring and outstanding hosts. The house is beautiful and is only a five minute walk from the Metro station. I was at their place on the day of the snow storm in DC. They took extra effort to ensure that I was comfortable and allowed me to use their space after check out time as I was not able to get out due to the snow. I recommend the place very highly.
To stay with Chris and Jean was the best airbnb experience ever. They picked us up from the Union Station by car, so we didn't have to carry our luggage through the whole City. As we arrived at their place, it felt already like being home. They were very welcoming and helpful. They showed us everything, where to put our stuff and how to use everything. We had an own mini-fridge in one of the both rooms and also a nespresso coffeemachine with a choice of coffee, tea and hot chocolate.
We shared the kitchen with them and had our own place to put things in the fridge and closet. They gave us many Information about good Restaurants nearby and also in the City and about other things we asked for.
The next subway is just about 10 minutes to walk.
They offered breakfast every morning with crossants, bagels, eggs, jam, nutella, honey, coffee, tea, orangejuice and fruits. It was like "sundaybreakfast" but every day. So delicious.
Their dog belle is adorable and wellbehaved, we loved her.
At the end of our one week stay, they brought us back to the Station by car.
We would give defenitly 6 of 5 stars, if that was possible. Great Hosts! We had a great time.
Chris and Jean are super sweet, very generous, and the place is great! I was stranded in DC due to storm and cancelled flights and Chris and Jean were very accommodating, even picking me up from the subway stop so I wouldn't have to slog through un-shoveled icy sidewalks!
The place was convenient to the metro. I'll admit I didn't really explore the area much outside the house, but I can tell you what I loved about this place:
Chris and Jean were like immediate friends, we sat down for a bit and chatted about many things. Instant ease.
They had a snack tray waiting on the kitchen table, offered me free range of kitchen, and even a stocked mini fridge in 'my' room. The room was spacious and the bed was SO comfortable. Everything was clean, nice, and easy to access. Jean was always there when I had questions about the place, neighborhood, transit, etc, and yet I had plenty of space to myself. It is clear that Chris and Jean are trying to make this as easy and comfortable for guests as possible. The breakfast spread was impressive, and Jean even helped to warm my croissant, and, pulled out the nutella. dang.
Highly recommend this place, and Chris and Jean!! thanks!
For my first airbnb experience, Jean and Chris set the benchmark extremely high. Nothing here could have been bettered, from the welcoming tray of cheeses, fruit and crackers to greet me, to the generous breakfasts laid out each morning, and of course the spacious, pristine accommodation. Having an entire floor to yourself, plus the use of a well-stocked, designer kitchen, is surely a luxury in airbnb terms. The proximity of the home to public transport, and therefore all the splendours of Washington, made this a very desirable location. However, add to this the excellent local shops and restaurants, including a spot for serious coffee drinkers, and you have the perfect place to stay. Most importantly, Jean and Chris could not have been more helpful, generous or gracious hosts.
Chris and Jean are the most wonderful hosts. We had a great stay in Washington! Their house is beautiful and immaculate and in a perfect location to explore the many Washington attractions. The third floor is very spacious, especially having the upstairs lounge to relax in. The Breakfast spread they provided was fresh, tasty and gave us that sense of staying in a home rather than a hotel. You can't beat that while travelling!! They were very thoughtful and helpful often leaving us maps and tips of local places to explore and fantastic places to eat. Their hospitality definitely knows no bounds and we would highly recommend staying with Chris and Jean to anyone wanting to explore Washington.
My girlfriend and I stayed with Chris and Jean on our recent trip down to DC, and found it to be an absolute delight. It was our first experience with AirBnB, and could not have been better, with spacious rooms, impeccably tidy house, and incredibly welcoming hosts.
We could go on for pages about every detail that we loved, but it's probably more useful to put it this way: we would not hesitate to stay with Chris and Jean again if we return to DC, and neither would we hesitate to recommend them to any of our friends.
Jean and Chris were very welcoming during our stay, making us feel very comfortable in their home. The accomodations were great including having total privacy on our own floor with a separate sitting room in addition to the bedroom and private bathroom. I highly recommend them and their home to anyone visiting the DC area.
Staying with Chris and Jean was the best Airbnb experience ever.
The location was safe and accessible to many tourist attractions, great bar/restaurants (only 3-5 mins by walk) and Reagan Airport. (Less than 7 mins by walk to Georgia Ave Petworth Station)
I was a little worried because I didn't know much about DC area, but Chris and Jean were very helpful. So I didn't have to be confused when finding locations of tourist attractions and restaurants, It was my first visit to DC though.
Also they were very warm and welcoming, I felt very comfortable just like staying at home.
I was really exhausted when I arrived in DC at first because of long flight schedules and heavy baggages but they carried my baggages to the third floor instead of me and offered hot beverage and snacks, so I could feel very relaxed. They also offered awesome breakfast such as bagels, croissants, fruits and coffee every morning for me.
Their dog, Belle, she is really good and friendly so you don't have to be worried even if you are not familliar with dogs.
I highly recommend if you are planning to visit DC and would definitely stay again.
We always say : « nothing is perfect ». But we eventually found perfection staying at Chris & Jean’s place. It seems that they are born to host people. Not only everything is clean, nice, confortable, they are also so interesting, funny, generous and much more. They think about every details and let you share their space as well as enjoying your privacy. We would have stay a month if we didn’t have to return our car. As I said : perfect place to explore Washington ; and perfect place even if you don’t want to go out !
nb : if you like to walk, you can go everywhere in Washington from their house. The farest point will be at 1h30 minutes walk, and you’d see almost everything on the way.
