My private beach house was built in 1997 and is located on the south west coast of Sri Lanka.
Practically, you can go and stay there and the caretakers English speaking daughter, would cook what you like and look after you.
Travis my good friend could pick you up at the Airport and drive you down to the village of Mirissa which is a distance of 135 km. The exact location is between Galle and Matara in the bay of Weligama. The train station is Weligama. The house is in the Fisheries Colony.Addr.Alengodawatta,Mirissa south, Sri Lanka.
I have decided to charge you a small sum of 16€ per person and day to cover the running costs and you pay for the food you consume. I have to increase the old price of 14€ per person that we kept constant for nearly 7 years. Electricity and water is very expensive now and the use of the Aircon tops the bill.
The lady who looks after you expects around € 12 per day for all guests which you settle with her in Rupees.
I can’t offer you 5 star services but a modern up-stair house with all the European comfort including hot water to shower and an air-con to cool the bedrooms before you go to sleep.
The Calender here has no validity. Please request a time from me. or visit ferienhaus-srilanka dot dee ee
How to get there.....
If you find the Mirissa post office, which is on the main road on the land side, and look across to a small grocery shop on the sea side, you will see a small lane that you take and after about 200 meters when you see the sea, you will see another turning to the left next to a wall that will take you to the house after a two minute walk.
Meenas father is known as Kalu Mama. He is a known fisherman in the village and if you ask someone how to get to him you will find our house next to his. That area is called Alengodawatta in the Dhiewara Kolaniya which means fisheries Colony.
To orient yourself simply ask for the hospital and our house is not even 100 meters from there.

From the outset communication with Sarath was excellent. He even met me in Bangkok for lunch prior to our arrival. His driver, Travis, met us at the hotel in Colombo and was very efficient in getting us safely to Mirissa (not always easy on the busy Sri Lankan roads). When we arrived at the house, Meena greeted us and made tea and a fruit platter which was a lovely touch. The house itself is literally right on the beach and the view is incredible. We arrived during a local festival where the men of the village were painted with exotic holy images and danced around to each house in the village banging drums and singing. It was fascinating. The house was around a 15 minute (hot) walk to Paradise Beach, a wonderful swimming beach close by. There was plenty of room for 5 of us and we had the whole house for our use. Meena cooked breakfast and dinner each night, which had a true local flavour to it. She also cooked a gorgeous cake for our youngest child's 4th birthday, which was so special. There was a requirement for a doctor for one of the children during our stay, and Meena organised a local driver to take us to a clinic where we were seen immediately by an English speaking doctor. This was above and beyond and we felt incredibly lucky to be in such good hands! Overall, the house is in an authentic small fishing village which showed us how Sri Lankans in the area truly live. Our son played cricket for several hours on the beach with the local lads, which was a huge thrill for him. We caught local buses easily (and cheaply), which left regularly from the main road. We made the trip to Galle Fort, which was very worthwhile. Sarath informed me that the bathrooms were soon to be renovated, which would certainly improve the overall standard of the property. In summary, we enjoyed our time here, especially the location.
Thanks Ben for the friendly words.
All credit goes to the ones who did the work. Meena is someone you must love. She really goes out of her way to see that the guests are happy. As the owner of the house I am proud of Travis, Meena and Nikini not forgetting Meenas father Kalu Mama. Enjoy your world trip and get back safely to Adelaide. Sarath
Great place and host - thanks to everyone. Mirissa beach is amazing - great for turtles, whales and amazing beach shacks and seafood bbq
Despite October no is the best month to stay on the South coast of Sri Lanka, it rains often, this home is so good that I extended to 15 days!
It is not possible to Mirissa find better than this House directly on the small beach of the fishing village. Meena is a special person ready to help you in everything you need and its cuisine is delicious Also Sarath assists you by email and I'm very happy to have known this place and these special people
This is a very nice house , which is located close to the harbour and the beach (paradise beach-it really deserves this Name!). So you can enjoy everything that mirissa has to offer within a 5 minute walk. Even this is only a short distance, Meenas father always drove us in his tuktuk, when we didn't know the way. They are such a nice family!! Meena is the sweetest Person in the world and her food is amazing!!! We never went out for dinner during our stay! She helped us with all the planning, for example going whale watching, or getting a massage, so we didn't have to worry about anything. I highly recommend this place. We had a great time there! Thank you!
Thank you for the use of your beach house at Mirissa.
Accommodation was generous and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the sunsets.
Mena looked after us well. The Sri Lankan food she prepared for us was delicious.
