Large and sunny apartment in one of the cities loveliest streets, Great restaurants, bars and shops! Two balconies to chill on and a huge terrace to enjoy views over the whole city. 1 minute walk to the Vondelpark and a 5 minute tram to the heart of the city.

The Space

Artist couple rents out their quiet, sunny and spacious apartment in the wonderful Old-West area, on walking distance from the center. It's on the top floor (email hidden)ly street full of nice shops, bars and restaurants, only a stones throw away from the Vondelpark, which is perfect for a stroll or a run. The tram stop is practically in front of the house and the Leidseplein in only three stops away. Our apartment has two nice balconies to relax on in the afternoon sun and a huge rooftop terrace that overlooks the entire city! We have a big flat screen TV with cable. Fast internet with WiFi. There is nice books, a piano and a few guitars (both in tune). The bedroom on the second floor boasts a huge King size bed, the couch sleeps one more and an aerobed is available upon request. Bike/scooter/car rentals around the corner.

Due to the large amount of inquiries about our space, we can not 'hold' the apartement for you until a reservation is made.

Due to an unfortunately bad experience we want to stress that our house is not a youth hostel or party palace. We will accept only reservations by guests with reviews or references, so please make sure you tell us something about you and your travelplans when making an inquiry, thanks!

Guest Access

The whole apartment will be yours, including the rooftop terrace. You will be free to use everything from kitchen utensils to piano and record collection (not too loud after 10pm please)

Interaction with Guests

In our absence, our friend Eva will take care of the check-in and -out. She lives around the corner, is very helpful.and can jump in, in the unlikely event that there is some kind of problem.

The Neighborhood

The Jan Pieter Heijestraat recently became the pearl of the Oud-West neighborhood. Every day a new coffee bar, restaurant of store opens, offering anything from second hand clothing to fancy design furniture. The park is almost nextdoor and perfect for a morning run or a afternoon stroll. The area is safe, international and getting trendier by the day.

Getting around

The #1 tram stops almost in front of the apartment. #7 and #17 stop at the end of the street. The 1 will get you into the heart of Amsterdam in less then 5 minutes. Around the corner, you can rent bicycles, scooters and cars.

Other Things to Note

Being a very original Amsterdam house, there is no elevator, but a typical dutch staircase.

Check In
  • Apartment is exactly how it is in the photos, the hosts were very welcoming and flexible. We arrived at the apartment and Dre let us in at the agreed time.
    Bathroom is the dutch standard.
You can even do your own laundry in the apartment and there is also a dry cleaning 2 mins away.
The apartment is greatly located kind of in the middle of the 3 big concert venues of Amsterdam, the Melkweg, Paradiso and Ziggo Dome and there was lots to watch while we were there. Had a great time, Thank you Dre

  • We had a very nice short stay at Dre and Kareltje's apartment. We very much enjoyed the location for nice walks in Vondelpark, and it couldn't be much closer to the tram stop - very convenient when traveling with luggage! Kareltje was lovely and met us for an early arrival. The apartment itself was very relaxed and comfortable. The neighborhood was great as well.

  • Me and my two best friends stayed here for about a week in our first time in Amsterdam/Europe and we loved the apartment! we were greeted by Dre's lovely wife and she left us on our way with everything we needed. During this week, the apartment made us feel very at home and comfortable during our stay. We love the place and its location and it suited us perfectly. We will definitely look to stay here when returning, we've made it a staple. Our last night me and my buddies all drew something for Dre, his wife and their apartment noticing the amount of artwork, we figured they would appreciate it haha Hope you guys life what we left :P

  • We were really happy with our stay in the apartment. It was roomy, comfortable, tidy and well equipped, not to mention Kereltjes friendly reception! Top rating is self-evident.

  • We really enjoyed staying in Dre and Tre's apartment during our first anniversary trip. The entire apartment is filled with art and pretty furuniture and sexy lighting.

The kitchen was quaint and had all the things we needed. We picked up whatever we didn't have down at the grocery store just a few blocks over. The tiny Dutch bathroom was sufficient for our needs.

This apartment is really ideal for a couple who is looking for an inspiring place to stay that is not in the heart of the city where all the tourists and crowds are. The apartment is super close to public transit, so getting around was very easy.

  • The flat is perfect - spacious, well-lighted and clean. The terrace is beautiful, the bed is huge, the hostess was friendly and generous. Even when it was raining and cloudy outside, the place was bright. I'd recommend this place to anyone that I love.

  • This was our first time with Airbnb and we were very impressed. The apartment was just as described and excellently positioned - easy to get to from the airport and a short tram ride away from the city centre. There are plenty of local amenities, including a supermarket just up the street and numerous bars / restaurants nearby, and the Vondelpark is only just over the main road. Kareltje was very welcoming, and happy to provide suggestions for where to go and what to see, and Dre provided clear directions for getting there.
The apartment has everything you might need, and is very spacious (apart from the shower room which, as others have mentioned, is on the small side). The roof terrace is fun, with a great panoramic view and a good place to soak up the sun (luckily still shining even in late October!).
Overall, a great pace to stay - we would definitely book again.

  • A very recommendable appartment, very light and spacious (except the bathroom which really only is a shower and a toilet with a tiny washing basin which was a bit challenging for a family of four). It´s right in the middle of shops and bars so very handy to drop out for a drink or buy any food. The closeness to the Vondelpark is quite handy for those who want to stay with their daily sport- and jogging exercises. We got to know Kareltje who is a lovely host, giving us some tipps about some spots one might not find in any travel guide. We were not actally spoilt with the weather but the roof terrace is nice to sit around even if it´s a bit windy and rough. We really enjoyed our stay there and would always love to chose it again when we revisit Amsterdam sometime in the future.

  • Hard to fault our experience really - it would have been nice to have a larger bathroom but this is Amsterdam and we did everything we needed to do without requiring medical assistance so.....not an issue and I suppose the only reason I would mention it is if you're 6'6" and 100 kg you would struggle..

Everything was easy from the booking to the handover and the place was exactly as described. Our hosts were friendly, accommodating and it is in a wonderful location with easy access to everything. Having the instruments, cable with English channels and the wi-fi made our non-tourist time relaxing and comfortable.

Very cool place. I already want to go back!

  • This is an excellent apartment located very conveniently in the City of Amsterdam. While it is not in the city center, it is right across the street from the tram station, which is 10 minutes away from the city center.

We had a group of 4 who stayed at this apartment and it was definitely a lot of space for us. The amenities were quite nice, including a washer and dryer, 3 beds (if you count the couch) and a air mattress, if needed. Another added plus was that they have an accessible roof top to get a good view of the city! The only drawback was that the Bathroom is definitely on the smaller side!

The hosts, Kareltje and Dre, are incredibly nice and helpful folks who always responded within 24 hours (most times within 1 hour) for any questions or concerns we had.

We highly recommend this apartment to anyone that is looking to plan a trip to Amsterdam!
