House - Private room · Merck Road, Cleveland, GA 30528, United States

The Space

Our beautiful home sits on 21+ acres of rolling hills on the outskirts of Cleveland GA, right off Hwy 365. Our one story with finished basement, 4 car garage, plus ample parking, 3 porches, 1 overlooking Mt Yonah (in the fall & winter). Long driveway with flower beds in bloom from spring to fall. Large screened in porch has a beachy feel. With hanging ferns & Chinese paper lanterns giving a peaceful romantic ambiance. Points of interest include: 2 wagon wheels, a prehistoric lizard (which is a fat-lighter root), a large Teak-wood turtle sculpture, 4 ft. tall Pelican, little sandpipers, sailboats, capiz wind chimes, a hanging shrimp net with sea shells and fish in it to name a few. For you to relax on, there are 7 lg. cushiony chairs & 1 lg. couch to sink into, read a book, chat or stream the web with your favorite drink in hand. Enjoy our visiting Ruby Throated Hummingbirds which will fly 4 feet from you. Also, redheaded woodpeckers, the large ones down to the small, visit our home daily. Along with many other feathered friends. Which we feed daily on the upper front porch with the swing. So bring your cameras! The additional porch is below, also for your enjoyment. We have a rustic winding trail on our property to (email hidden) and an old tennis court. The bedrooms have ample space, and are decorated with an inviting feel to them, each with their own personality. Everyone who sees them complements on how beautiful they are. Actually it was my friends and family that told me "Cheryl, Your home is as beautiful as a BnB, and you are great with people, so, why don't you turn it into one!" So I did! My home is the hot spot of our family reunions and get together's. There are desks in each room with Wi-Fi, for either your laptop and/or your makeup mirror. Dressers and walk in closets for your clothes. The furniture ranges from antique to present, with comfort at heart! Beds sleep extremely well I am told. One teacher told me "I chose to stay in bed all morning and relax, instead of going out, I was so comfortable." Two rooms have large windows that overlook the (website hidden). Mnts., and the other overlooks the garden.
You pull up into the winding driveway, park, pass by the rose and flower gardens, enter onto the screened in porch where “Faith" our wooden pelican greets you! Pass through the double glass doors, step onto the oak floors throughout the kitchen and dining area, dotted with hand tuft area rugs. In front of you is the dining table which seats 10 guests. The china cabinet is on your right. On your left, the oak cabinets line the wall from top to bottom, with ample room to make your coffee, bagels, eggs or whatever you like! The wrought iron shelf displaying the famous "Meaders Pottery" (which originated right here in White County!) is on your left. Which is displayed at Folk Pottery Museum. And a pottery house-Mark of the Potter- on the Soque River. Where you can go and see potters in action and buy their fascinating pottery yourself!
As you are standing by the shelf, you are looking at the large open living room, with double glass doors that go out onto the front porch with the swing and where the bird feeders are. The fire place is on your right where the love seat is, and the 60 inch hi-def TV w/ satellite, with the piano straight ahead.
The house is carpeted with plush green carpet, when you turn left down the hall; the bathroom w/ shower is on your left. 2nd bath is on the other side of the L.R. TV. 1st bedroom, "The Birds Eye View” is on your right. Got its name because that is where most of the birds pass by to go eat. The 2nd room on your right "The Palm Tree Room" named because of the palm tree on the wall over the bed. And last but not least, the room on the left, (w/king bed) "From the Heart" got its name from the items in the room. They are a collection of our, (now grown) 7 children’s unique items that are treasured.
We are approx. 1 hour from Atlanta, 1 hour 20 minutes from Atlanta Airport, 15 minutes from Helen, and 30 minutes from Gainesville, GA. About
I am a proud owner of a beautiful 4000 sq. ft. home on 21 acres in the NE Georgia Mountains. I live by myself and love the scenic views and fresh air. My husband of 23 yrs. died a few years ago and all of our children are grown. My three daughters live in Florida and my four sons live in Georgia. I love God, family & people! I have never met a stranger! I guess you could say have the "Call of Hospitality" upon my life. So, it is natural to have people in my home, and to bring a smile to their face. That is one reason why I opened my home, to meet new people. To give them an enjoyable place to go. And share the experience of this beautiful area. And to give me needed income since my husband’s death, which is when we lost our company. If our visitors want to share, I love to listen to their adventures, their life experiences. Whether joyful or a struggle, and how they overcame their obstacles. My Motto: We reap what we sow, so sow plentifully in what you want to reap! 5 Things I Cannot Live Without: 1. My faith in God/My Bible 2. My Children/Grandchildren 3. Coffee 4. Ice Cream 5. Gardening I enjoy participating in and/or observing most sports. I enjoy biking/hiking in the mountains or anywhere, fishing in streams and lakes and tubing/canoeing down the Chattahoochee River. Photographing beauty where ever I see it, whether in people, nature or still life brings me joy. I enjoy the arts/music; Christian, classical, soft jazz or pop. I enjoy gardening, seeing plants grow, just the beauty of life. I have started many of my flowers/vegetables from seed, bulb, or root. I love cooking and baking, it makes the house smell great and tastes good too! I have a love for learning new things and experiencing new adventures in life which always keeps you growing. As far as my favorite movies are "It's a Wonderful Life" and "You've Got Mail". When you arrive you will be greeted by a warm smile and a drink of your choice with a homemade treat. And shone to your quarters, which we are sure you will be pleased with. We will do everything we can to make your stay as pleasurable as possible. If you need your space you will have that, if you desire someone to share with, we will be at your service! You may want to sit by the fire place, or go out on the front deck where the birds fly right by you to feed. Or if it is spring or summer you may want to the back deck and watch the humming birds feed 4 feet from you! Sometimes, 5 at a time! Or take a walk in the woods down the trail, or drive off to your destination! Either way, you will be glad you came! And so will we!
