The Space

One bedroom for rent in a 2nd story, three bedroom apartment, room includes your own private bathroom. Living room complete with 55" 3D TV with basic cable, kitchen with gas cooking, and two very large windows that look out to peaceful garden. The room for rent has a queen sized bed, a wardrobe for your clothing and luggage, a desk, and a window that looks out onto the front porch. We also have three bicycles available for rent for $10 per day, per bike. Shoal Creek trail is right outside, and you can walk or ride bikes all the way to downtown! Shoal Creek trail is Austin's first green belt (nature trail). Rosedale is a great neighborhood that has lots to do within walking distance. The Draught House (great Austin pub for 45 years) is only a few blocks away and it has a different food trailer come every night. Central Market is also right up the street. Tennis courts, local free swimming pool and park are just a few blocks away. The Rosedale neighborhood began from farm and dairy land in the 1860s. In the 1900s, four florists and nurseries found their home in this area. Much of the nursery stock planted during that time remains, as witnessed by the many large and lovely trees in the neighborhood. The majority of the homes in the Rosedale area were built during the 1930s and 1940s, giving them an allure not found with newer construction. The many renovation projects and new construction throughout the neighborhood lend a sense of vitality and renewal. The population of the neighborhood is a fabulous blend of young families, single professionals, and original owners who raised their children here and have many tales to tell.

Beyond the delightful charm of the area, the Rosedale neighborhood's location makes it one of the most desirable of Austin's neighborhoods. We have close proximity to the Capitol, the downtown area, and the University of Texas at Austin, as well as easy access to the main thoroughfares of our beautiful city. Bus stops are just a block away. The local Monk Parakeets (Quaker Parrots) often make a stop outside to say hello!

We do have two cats that live here. They are cool with visitors. Please be cool with them. We can also close off part of the apartment and keep them separate from you. I also have a roommate, Jason. He's quiet and laid back, and if I'm unavailable he may check you in. There are coin washing machines and dryers downstairs. We wash all of the bedding and all towels, steam the bed, vacuum, and clean and sanitize the bathroom after each guests' stay.

Guest Access

Guests have their own private room and bathroom, a shared living room, front porch with seating, and a shared kitchen. You're welcome to use dishes/pots/pans but please clean up after yourself. We usually have coffee at breakfast from Texas Coffee Traders, and you may help yourself to cereal and milk/coconut milk/almond milk. Sometimes on the weekends I will make a fancy brunch.

Interaction with Guests

Sometimes I am home and I will hang out with guests if they seem like they want to hang out and if I am feeling like hanging out. I work and play outside a lot so I'm not home all of the time.

The Neighborhood

I love my neighborhood! Shoal Creek runs through it and the the trail goes all the way to downtown. I recently saw a fox run by and I've seen two skunks! Also, there are great cafes, shops, and grocery stores within walking distance.

Getting around

There are bus stops within walking distance. You can also sign up for car2go, take a cab, or we have three bicycles available for rent for $10 each per day. If you bring your own car or rent a car, I have plenty of free parking available.

Check In
  • It's a great place to stay. The room was listing as described. I got the key when I arrived and returned at midnight. The room was very clean and comfortable. I will be definitely back again when possible.

  • Brooke's place is really really clean. It's convenient to a great part of Austin, and easy to get downtown. Brooke was also super helpful to me and gladly assisted with the purpose for my visit.

  • Brooke was a good host and I had a good time at her apartment.

It`s the perfect stay to explore Austin, but I recommend to have a car to get around. There are plenty of parking spaces right in front of the apartment building available.
The apartment was very clean and as described, even so I didn't spend much time there. The bed was comfy and the two cats didn't bother at all, since they spend actually all of the time lying in the living room.

  • Brooke and her roommate Jason were very nice ! I would definitely book with them again. The neighbourhood is quiet and accessible by public transport !

  • Brooke was a great host!! Exactly as advertised! Promptly answered emails and was available at checkin! Her and Jason were very helpful with the area; places to eat & things to do. The apartment was clean; shower was great, room in the closet for my stuff - bed was comfy too! Very safe neighbor - easy walk to Central Market and other coffee shops, restaurants; etc. Great access to downtown via the trail or biking. Definitely a great place to stay in Austin!

  • I spent 4 nights here and was great. The room was clean and comfortable, some new furniture was just added to keep the room more organized and that was nice too. I had my own bathroom and a bike that I used for the entire time. There was also a TV in the room, I never used it but someone else might care. In fact I was never there during the day so I just saw Brooke and Jason sporadically, but they were always very nice and welcoming. The place is quiet in a residential neighborhood and there's a trail that starts pretty much there and goes all the way to downtown. I had a great time in Austin, this was my first airbnb experience and I'm completely satisfied with it. Thank you.

  • Brooke's listing was accurate and included everything we needed for a short stay. We rented a car for the weekend and the location allowed easy access to several areas in the city. We didn't see Brooke much, but her roommate, Jason, was an awesome host--we even had dinner and drinks with him on our first night.

  • Listing was exactly as promised. Brooke was friendly and warm, and a total pro. Neighborhood was nice with SOOO much stuff (restaurants, shops) within easy walking distance.

    Great experience all around.

  • This is a great place to stay. The room is clean and quiet and Brooke and her roommate are excellent hosts. The neighborhood is nice and has some good restaurants and cafes within walking distance. It is an easy bike ride along Shoal Creek to downtown Austin and there are bikes available. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. And Jason makes a great pie

  • Brooke and Jason were great! This was my first Air bnb experience and I was traveling alone so I was a bit hesitant but they put me at ease. The room was very clean and comfortable and even though I live around the Austin area, I was still not very knowledgeable about that certain part of town, but both Brooke and Jason helped to point me in the right direction. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

I am a native Texan and I have lived in Austin for just about three years. I love it here. Even though I haven't lived here for very long, I feel that I know this city very well already (came here a lot before moving here), and I've found places and done things that people that have lived here their whole life never knew about, so if you want some good suggestions for things to do, I can be a big help. There is always something going on here, usually it's hard to decide what to do because there are constantly multiple choices of fun. About me, I am kind of a naturalist, or try to be. I like to eat healthy and be outside. I'm not much of a home body and I really like to go hiking (so many trails here), kayaking , spelunking, and swimming. I also love living in a city with one of the best fun music scenes and a great appreciation for arts, and an ever evolving food culture. As a host I aim to please. Comfort, cleanliness and convenience are important on my list.
