The space
Located on a traffic-free, quiet square in the historic town of Bhaktapur, a few minutes walk from the World Heritage Site of Dattatraya Square, Milla Guesthouse has been designed by my husband Goetz Hagmueller, also the architect of the Patan Museum and the Garden of Dreams in Kathmandu.
Balancing modern and traditional architecture, it is built in brick with wooden ceilings, timber floors in the bedrooms and with terracotta-tile floors in other areas.
You can enjoy the sitting/breakfast room with terrace and kitchen on the top floor.
The Moon 2 room (on the second floor) has a king-size bed and a balcony. In addition to the double bed it has one couch-bed (for an additional person we'll charge $20). It is one of four rooms in the guesthouse.
If there are other guests, you will have to share the public spaces like sitting-and-breakfast room and guest kitchen. Guests will have their own house keys, so they have no problem to stay out late.

Prices are all inclusive, complimentary breakfast and WiFi, 24h hot water and solar-voltaic electricity, and gas heating in every room during the cold season.
There is a CITY TAX to be paid when entering the city of Bhaktapur of US$ 15 per person.

Guest access
I am checking the guesthouse regularly. Laxman is taking care of breakfast and room cleaning, he can arrange transport, and give tips which places to visit in Bhaktapur and the surrounding area. In case of communication or other problems I am always available on my mobile phone.

Where you’ll be

Bhaktapur, Central Development Region, Nepal

The neighborhood on Devli Square has become a very close community after the earthquake in 2015. They meets regularly around the Sakyamuni Buddha Temple on the square. We are in the process to form a Community Foundation to restore one of the historic buildings on the square and start a Community Center to promote traditional music, have a library for children and a space to do their homework together, as well as a place for the elderly and widows to meet regularly.

Lives in Bhaktapur, Nepal
My name is Ludmilla. I am German living in Bhaktapur since 1979. The guesthouse has been designed by my husband Goetz Hagmueller, also the architect of the Patan Museum and Garden of Dreams in Kathmandu. The guesthouse was opened in 2013 with only two rooms, it now has four double rooms (two with balcony). Sanu and Laxman, who have been working with us since more than 30 years, are the caretaker of the guesthouse and will take care of all your needs. I check in regularly that everything is in perfect order.
