This was a lovely place!
Location - excellent, about 10 min walk to Chinatown, and 30 min walk to the Mall. Also 10 min walk to the nearest subway. We felt safe. Grocery store 50m away.
Host - Adreinne didn't meet us, but was easily contactable by phone and attended to all our questions. The place was easy to find.
Place - spacious, well furnished, all appliances worked. Perhaps a bit cold as there were only portable fan heaters. We had a car, and there is no street parking during the day, so we had to move the car around a bit.
Thanks for letting us stay!
People's Place was great and Adrienne was very helpful. We look forward to returning on our next trip to DC
People's Place was a great fit for what we needed. It's clean, comfy, and located right next to the convention centre. Would definitely stay there again.
The house was warm and inviting - the room heaters were left on and all the rooms were comfortably toasty. Everything was clean and in order. We felt right at home immediately. I was in town for a convention at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center and I was literally 5 minutes away by foot. It was great to be able to go back to the house in between session and grab lunch or dinner! The neighborhood was quiet and safe. There were occasional sirens but that's normal for any big city. The house is incredibly comfortable - nice sofas, beds and a TV with cable. Crashing after a long day of professional duties at People's Place #1 felt great!
I only have a minor criticism - the internet signal strength is not the greatest as I could only connect to the internet from the living room. However, this is only a minor issue because at People's Place #1, internet is included!!
Overall, my party and I really enjoyed staying at People's Place #1. It was warm, clean, close to the convention center and inviting. The amenities (TV, Internet, kitchen) made our stay in DC that much better. Thank you!!
We (three scientists) stayed at "People's Place" for 5 nights whilst attending a conference at the Convention Center.
The apartment is perfectly located – a 5-minute walk to the Convention Center. There is also a well stocked Giant supermarket almost across the street – very convenient. And a 2-minute walk to a Starbucks just around the corner.
For sight-seeing, we walked everywhere – the White House, Capitol, National Mall, …In case you don’t want to walk, there is a metro station next to the Convention Center.
People Place is simple but also lovely – it’s an affordable and accessible place for everybody! And there is a washer and a dryer in the building you could use for free.
Adreinne wasn’t in Washington during our stay but she answered our emails immediately and was very helpful.
Of course there are also some downsides. As some other guests already mentioned, the apartment is really dark, there are only two windows. And one of the bedrooms has no window. The sleeping sofa in the living room is very uncomfortable. Some basics like a kettle or bedside lamps are missing. The WiFi only works in parts of the apartment, not in the second bedroom for example.
BUT: Overall, I would not mind staying here again. I can recommend People’s Place to everybody who’s not expecting luxury, but an affordable place to stay in the heart of Washington. Thanks Adreinne.
Nice location, convenient to the metro and quite central. House as described, clean and spacious enough for 4. Futon slightly uncomfortable.
This apartment is nestled in the heart of DC, a brisk walking distance from many of DC's famous sights and historical tours. I'd really recommend this place if you want convenience and easy access to the museums and the monuments. The neighborhood was pretty nice also, making it a perfect place for a jog in the morning. There is also a big grocery just 2 minute walk so it's perfect if you want to buy food, water or some supplies. The apartment though was kind of dusty when we entered and some lights and electric sockets were not working properly. The host did address to the light problem right away so this wasn't much of a problem. The sofa bed, however, was not the best smelling sofa bed and the linens could be "fresher". There is a washing machine and dryer in the building that you could use for free, so this was a good thing for us also. In the winter, you might have to ask for more portable heaters since there was only one at that time.. and that really could not heat up the whole place.
The space is pretty big and I think overall, our stay here was pretty relaxing. I would not mind staying here again.
