Interaction with Guests
It is always a treat to meet guests at checkin, visit with them in the garden or even share a glass of wine. Although it is not unusual for guests to check themselves in & out with communications all by text. Although I miss meeting them in person, this method works remarkably well too.
Hyde Park is an historic neighborhood with mostly 100 year old homes & tall trees. It is quiet and peaceful yet right next to UT & close to downtown.
There are loads of restaurants from cheap eats to fine dining all in walking distance. Wheatsville Co-op & Central Market are also in the hood and provide all your grocery needs.
We are 1 block from the 1 or 5 bus routes that go right downtown & run every 10 minutes. We are also on the UT free transit bus.
Getting here from the airport:
Taxis run between $25-30 and is fast.
Supershuttle is a minibu that is shared with 2-3 other peopIe, costs about $15 and is medium slow.
The city bus #101 is only $1 and very slow.
I highly recommend Car2Go - a shared vehicle service as an alternative to renting a car. You can even get them to and from the airport (costs about $10). but you have to sign up in advance.
Other Things to Note
What to expect.
We really want you to have a great stay & go out of our way to make it happen. But we are not a hotel, so there is more chance of unexpected things happening, both good & bad.
The nearest hotels are a Double Tree & La Quinta & the rooms cost twice as much. They are in the middle of government buildings with few nearby attractions.
The apartment is walkable to loads of fun things and is in a tree filled neighborhood.
However, with hotels you know exactly what you are getting & there are no surprises.
Make yourself at home!
* Please note that during the weekdays from 8-5 on street parking requires a permit. The off street parking spot may be more convenient.

* Please feel free to use any of the outdoor spaces, including hammock, dining table & trampoline.
* There is a composting bin if you wish to use it, as well as recycling containers.
Excellent choice! Tracy and her husband were great hosts. We were late checking in but, with their help and understanding it wasn't an issue at all. The house is in a great, quiet neighborhood near a few awesome coffee/breakfast spots. My girlfriend and I enjoyed walking to breakfast and then driving into the city for meals later in the day. The apartment itself was clean and very comfortable. It had everything we could have asked for and more. The house was beautifully decorated for Christmas, really icing on the cake. Finally, Tracy let us check out late, easing some pre-flight stress. Awesome experience. Thank you Tracy!
Tracy did a wonderful job of providing all the information that I needed ahead of my stay and made me feel welcome. Unfortunately due to having car trouble, I was unable enjoy her hospitality. I've kept all the information so next time I need a place to stay in Austin, I will stay there.
Midwestern? We're really more like Chevy Chase and are from California! The accommodations were comfortable, cool, clean and complete. They even supplied coffee. Austin was beastly hot and humid and the AC and fan provided lots of relief. The bed was comfortable and the location several blocks off "the drag" was convenient to Starbuck's and Amy's Ice Cream. The garden was lovely with a very zen feeling---bamboo and lots of Asian touches.
My girlfriend and I stayed at this apartment for three nights over Memorial Day weekend. It was very nice. Very clean and very spacious with a full kitchen. It was a very close drive to downtown Austin. Would definitely stay again!
We booked with short notice. Tracy was lovely from start to finish ! We loved the garden apartment - clean, tasteful and modern. There is an apartment upstairs so footsteps may be heard but don't let this distract from what was great about this accommodation. The garden delightful and location perfect. We found several interesting bars and restaurants in easy walking distance. This is a real gem and so is Tracy. We will be back ! Oh I am picky - very picky so this review was well earned not given !
