It is always a treat to meet guests at checkin, visit with them in the garden or even share a glass of wine. Although it is not unusual for guests to check themselves in & out with communications all by text. Although I miss meeting them in person, this method works remarkably well too.
Hyde Park is an historic neighborhood with mostly 100 year old homes & tall trees. It is quiet and peaceful yet right next to UT & close to downtown.
There are loads of restaurants from cheap eats to fine dining all in walking distance. Wheatsville Co-op & Central Market are also in the hood and provide all your grocery needs.
We are 1 block from the 1 or 5 bus routes that go right downtown & run every 10 minutes. We are also on the UT free transit bus.
Getting here from the airport:
Taxis run between $25-30 and is fast.
Supershuttle is a minibu that is shared with 2-3 other peopIe, costs about $15 and is medium slow.
The city bus #101 is only $1 and very slow.
I highly recommend Car2Go - a shared vehicle service as an alternative to renting a car. You can even get them to and from the airport (costs about $10). but you have to sign up in advance.
Tracy was a wonderful host and the space we rented out was great. The garden apartment was spacious and was a perfect spot for home base after spending the day away exploring Austin. The apartment was clean and everything we might have needed was conveniently in the apartment. However, a word of caution if you are a light sleeper; the apartment is located below another apartment and in the early morning it is possible to hear the upstairs tenants moving around. Overall, our stay was awesome: checking in and out was a breeze, parking was easy and nearby, and the location made everything easily accessible.
This was definately an adventure. I never got to meet Tracy and unfortunately found another place to stay after unsuccessfully finding the place late at night. After the fact she was more than willing to work with me to find a solution that works best.
We loved our stay at Tracy's apartment! It was very clean and extremely comfortable and quiet. You walk out the door to a peaceful and welcoming backyard with places to dine, lounge, and relax. The neighborhood is beautiful and quiet and close to everything. Tracy was kind and laid back and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again!
Great stay at Tracy's place. Very comfortable and has everything you need.
Confirm the house number with Tracy before as I didn't have it and struggled to find the address. Also be aware there is another cedar st!
Tracy and Brian are excelents hosts, always ready to help you with whatever you may need, the apartment can not be better located, near University, downtown, reaturants, cafes and not so far from any place in Austin... I recommend Tracy's place with no doubt
I had a lovely stay at Tracy's apartment. It was a beautiful little place and wonderfully clean and comfortable when I moved in. The shower worked very well and I enjoyed the selection of teas and coffees Tracy had left. The location was super convenient too. Tracy herself is very kind and accommodating, and checked in several times to ensure I was enjoying my stay. All in all I couldn't recommend staying here more.
I stayed at Tracy's for 3 days during Christmas-time. A block up is 37th street, and it's mentioned on ABC news as one of top in US streets to see Christmas lights. Tracy's home was literally COVERED in lights, including the Japanese courtyard, and was so pretty. People came each night to take family pics in front. On the second night 3 guys from Australia stayed in the apt above (it's listed on Airbnb too) and they were elephants until 4:00 in the morning...Tracy heard them too and refunded money for that night. I would stay here again and am recommending this to friends - will try for the top unit next time :-) but wouldn't hesitate to take the bottom if it isn't available. The place was tastefully decorated, spacious and it felt more like a "B&B" than other places I've stayed via this site. Had little mini-shampoos, brandnew bath mats and towels, excellent bed.
We stayed in the upstairs unit due to Tracy having the flu and was not able to get the downstairs unit cleaned in time. The upstairs is usually more, so it was not a problem for us, however the downstairs unit did look more open and was recently remodeled. The downstairs unit looked like the pics included in Airbnb and Tracy was very kind when communicating with her over the phone. Also the garden was nicely decorated with Christmas lights, and people were even stopping to take pics.
Tracy was great to help me out with a last second problem. I owe her!
Tracy was amazing and incredibly responsive. She confirmed my same day apt within 30 minutes and had the space set up and comfortable for me to arrive late that night. Heater and all!
