The Space

This wonderful two-storey chalet of 95m2 was almost entirely renovated in 2012-2013 and offers you 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 1 common living area with kitchen and all amenities required for a pleasant stay with your friends and/or family.

The house can accommodate with comfort up to 6 guests in three different bedrooms. All bedrooms have enough place to store your personal belongings for a week and not having to live out of your suitcase. Two bedrooms are on the upper floor: one has 2 beds of 90x200cm that can be put next to another (or not) and one has 2 beds fitted below the ceilings (90x200cm and 140x200cm), which kids usually love! On the lower floor, there is one completely new larger bedroom with its one fireplace and very high ceiling (up to 4.5m). It has a large wardrobe and the bed is a double bed 160x220cm. It overviews the garden through 4 large windows, providing a lot of day light and a romantic getaway in both Winters and Summers.

The house has two bathrooms, one on each floor. The ground floor bathroom is adjacent to the larger bedroom and equipped with WC, washbasin and a one-person hot-tub/whirlpool. We also added dimming lights for a fully relaxing time after a day of skiing/snowboarding or hiking. The larger bathroom on the first floor has a WC, two vase-shaped washbasins and a large shower. It also has washing machine and tumbler, but unless otherwise agreed before your stay, this will not be available for guests. Both bathrooms have a radiator to tailor temperature in the rooms and have your winter equipment dry during the night.

The kitchen has a brand new refrigerator (>200l) with freezer and dishwasher. There are an oven and three hot plates powered by electricity as well as a large hot plate powered by wood/fire, increasing considerably the rustic feeling of the house. There is plenty of crockery and cutlery and obviously all the necessary equipment for your Swiss Winter, including a “fondue” and a “raclette” set. The kitchen communicates through a wide opening with the lounge, where you will find a fireplace to warm and light up your evenings in the Winter. The lounge is also equipped with a programmable heating system through which you can ensure heating up the room before you get-up in the morning. There is an extendable table for up to 6 people to eat as well as comfortable seating place on a couch and two large armchairs. Wireless internet is now available as well as cable TV (with more than 100 channels). We also have some board and card games to entertain both kids and adults.

Irrespective of the length of your stay, fresh bed sheets and towels will be provided for each guest. For your comfort and to ensure consistent cleanliness to all our guests, an additional fee will be charged to your bill in order to pay for the cleaning lady.

The chalet stands on a private ground of 1100m2, and has plenty of parking spaces for your cars (up to 3 parking slots), one of which being undercover. In Winter, make sure you are equipped with snow chains/4x4 vehicle as access can sometimes be difficult, i.e. non-paved narrow road up from the main street. Next to the parking places, there is a small garden house, where you will be able to store your skis, poles and/or snowboards overnight. While we will ensure our best to have the snow removed from the way in front of the house, we cannot guarantee that it will always be free of snow and you might sometimes have to carve you a way to the house in case of regular and heavy snowing.

The chalet itself is located in Burglauenen, which is one-village before Grindelwald, and it takes a 6min car-ride to the center of town and the main ski resort, where there is plenty of parking space (daily card about 5CHF). Access to public transport is not ideal and we therefore strongly recommend using cars.

Guest Access

Guest will have access to the whole house, as well as the ground around it (a total of 1100m2). All equipment inside the house can be used except:
1)the washing machine / tumbler if not agreed upon beforehand
2)some personal equipment stored in specific location in the rooms.

Interaction with Guests

While we enjoy meeting our guests, we want them to have a pleasant stay with us and ensure them complete privacy and quietness during their stay. As we are only renting the full-house (as opposed to rooms in it), the only interactions that we will have with our guests will be limited to communication prior to your stay, check-in/handover of the keys and check-out. Depending on the time of the year as well as the date of your booking, check-in/out process will be carried by a trusted third party.

The Neighborhood

The Jungfrau region contains the largest nature protection area in Switzerland as well as 72 waterfalls, hidden valleys, grassy alpine meadows and lonely mountain inns.
Covering an area of 824 square kilometers, the Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch UNESCO World Heritage Site contains nearly all of the Bernese High Alps, with their monumental rock massifs, in the Cantons of Berne and Valais. Around 90% of this area is covered with rocks and ice. The Swiss Alps Jungfrau-Aletsch World Heritage Site stands for the splendid natural beauty of the Alps. In Summer, relax and enjoy the crisp, fresh mountain air, the intensity of unspoiled nature, a living historical culture, traditional gastronomy and a wide variety of sporting activities.

In Winter, the three peaks – Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau – are unique and also famous world-wide thanks to James Bond 007 and “Piz Gloria” (Schilthorn). Spectacular cable-cars take visitors to the peaks; the Jungfraubahn, opened in 1912, is the highest station in Europe and is known as “Top of Europe” at 3454 m above sea level. Getting around

Grindelwald is a small village of about 4000 permanent inhabitants. In Winter as in Summer, it welcomes many tourists from around the world as it has a lot to offer, from world class skiing and hiking to mountain biking, paragliding or many other outdoor activities.

Other Things to Note

While the chalet has been fully renovated on the inside, the area around the house is still ongoing and therefore not particularly attractive from a visual standpoint. Although once the snowfalls have hit, you will not notice any difference. The outdoor will be finalized in the Spring 2014.
Due to its old original age (it was first built in 1906), the house has relatively low ceilings (2m) in some of the areas and is not suitable/comfortable for people measuring over 195cm / 6.4ft.
Due to its location and the law of nature, the house and its ground are depraved from sun from mid-October to mid-March, therefore not ideal if you are a non-skier. That being said, it is facing South and you can enjoy the sun from 9-10am to 7-9pm for the rest of the year.

  • The Eyhüsli is a very cute and rustic place to stay, just down the road from the wonderful Eiger & Jungfrau mountains and the town of Grindelwald is only a 10 minute drive away. Loic has done an amazing job with renovating and extending the cabin. We loved the wood burning stoves and the newly renovated bathrooms. Loic was also great to communicate with, and very helpful for our stay.

  • It was a pleasure for sure staying at the Eyhusli chalet for 2 nights, 3 days... We were a group of 5 and the house was big enough to accommodate us. Everything was just perfect (location, proximity to the ski slopes, cleanliness/order in the house, decoration, easiness of heating the house, value for money in general). Furthermore, the house really transmits the coziness you want and expect to feel when renting a chalet in a Swiss mountain village. An ideal post to relax for a couple of days, really...The slopes in the area (if you ski) are beautiful as well!

    We really hope we can make it again to Grindelwald and at Loic's house.

  • We passed 3 very pleasant days in the Eyhüsli. The chalet was very lovely decorated with nice little details... to feel totally at home and very cosy... the kitchen is good equipped - we were very lucky to prepare a real swiss fondue!! i recomment everybody the house of loîc and lisi! and hopefully we come back soon...!

  • We stayed with 6 persons one week at the beautyful cottage of Lisi and Loic. Nearly everything was new decorated and very tidy, we had everything we needed to. We met Lisi and Loic, both were so kindly and courteous, showed us the hole cottage and explained everything. Also the Email communication was good.
    We had a great stay and enjoyed our week at "Eyhüsli". Thanx.

  • We stayed in Loic's chalet for a total of 3 days and 2 nights. It is a beautiful chalet and we were really happy that we stayed there. It was very clean and has a charming touch. The house was fully equipped with everything you need e.g. for cooking The location is also good. Loic was a very friendly host even though we only had e-mail contact, he was very supportive and helpful. He send us an introduction beforewards where everything was written which we have to know about the house. So, it was no problem for us. I really recommend to stay there you just need a car. We would definitely come back. Thank you a lot Loic :)))
