  • My daughter and I just stayed 3 nights in this little flat with the most genuinely and welcoming couple.
The room itself is fairly spacious with a electric blanket underneath the slightly thin mattresses which helped providing a good night sleep.
Location is excellent very near cafes, restaurants and several stations.
We will highly recommend this place to other travellers.

  • Mari & Ken & Gaku are extremely kind and they run the best "hotel" in Shinjuku :) It is very close to the wonderful Shinjuku-gyoen park. Before you sleep or after you wake up, they will become your family and help you with anything you need. They invited me to an intercultural event, introduced me their friends and even treated me to Hanamaru udon ( at Kabukicho ) which I loved it. Gaku-chan can also speak some English ( "Oh, my God!" ). They're a perfect trio to stay with. A quiet home in central Tokyo.

  • Staying at the home of Mari, Ken, and Gaku feels just like sleeping over at a friends' house, in the sense that they are so sincerely kind and welcoming. Even from the very beginning, they are very informative and helpful. They even helped us secure hard-to-get tickets that probably wouldve been impossible had it not been for their help. Mari is so cheerful and great to talk to, Ken will make sure that your stay is the utmost comfortable one, and Gaku is adorable and loves to play. My husband and I stayed here for two nights, and we wished that we could've stayed longer! The room itself is spacious, clean, and homey. There is an electric blanket under the mattress that made us sleep like a baby on the cold nights. There is a separate shower room and toilet; both are clean. The location of their apartment is also very convenient, with a Lawson downstairs and a short walk to the metro station. We have no complaints, and would definitely stay here again if we had the chance to visit Tokyo.

  • This Japanese family is certainly excellent!
This family helped me in many respects with information support: the order of auto parts for the low price, search of the necessary addresses, recommendations about tourist places in Tokyo and etc.
This family lives in the convenient and interesting area to Shinjuku in whom everything is: cafe, grocery shop, and much many other things.
This family quite well knows English.
The Internet at them is stable and fast without restrictions.
The apartment at them is pure and lovely.
I would be very glad to repeated stay at them.
They to me gave lovely souvenirs as keepsake of them.
I give many and immense thanks to this family.
After my arrival home I strongly missed Tokyo and Japan as a whole.

  • Kate and I stayed with Ken, Mari and Gaku for 4 nights. They are a lovely family and were so kind and welcoming to us. They gave us easy to follow directions to their place and were waiting for us with smiles when we arrived. I loved playing with Gaku and he enjoyed the attention. Their place is small but clean and we had lots of privacey and the freedom to come and go at any time of the day or night. The guest rooms have coded locks on them which we encoded ourselves so we felt good leaving our valuables there during the day. Ken even lent us a portable hot spot so we could have internet access while out around the city. Our last day there they took us for a walk in Harajuku to see a temple. It was really nice to spend that time with them. If I get the chance to go back to Tokyo for a few days, I would love to stay with them again.

  • What a lovely experience!!!! Mari, Ken and Gaku were such wonderful hosts and I highly recommend their home if you're visiting Tokyo! Mari and Ken made our 4 nights stay in Shinjuku such a wonderful experience - showing us Shinjuku, giving us excellent advice on our travel itinerary and helping me with my Japanese. Their young son Gaku is such a friendly and polite boy who kept us smiling during our stay. The apartment is very convenient to the metro and JR stations, convenience store, restaurants, Golden Gai etc. The room itself was decorated beautifully and the futon was very comfortable and warm :) :)

    March 2014
  • We had a great stay at Mari, Ken and Gaku's place! location was fantastic, a 10-15 min walk from shinjuku (though not advisable with luggage). the best part about the stay was the host Mari and Ken, they are awesome people, and made sure we were comfortable all the time. they even brought us on a walking tour where we discovered some of the area around shinjuku where we otherwise would not have known. and not forgetting that Gaku was such a joy to be around.

    March 2014
  • We stayed with this lovely family for 3 nights, but in the middle of a music festival we couldn't share as much time as we had hoped with them. They did absolutely everything they could to make us feel at ease. The room was nice and well located, and any problem or question we had concerning life in Japan they struggled to provide an answer and make us feel welcome in this country. This will not be forgotten. Thank you for everything! Ja mata nee! :)

    March 2014
  • We stayed at their place for 3 nights and we really enjoyed it. Mari, Ken and Gaku are such a lovely family. They did everything to make us feel like home.…..and we definitely did! They explained us a lot about the Japanese culture and took me to a Japanese festival where I joined a tea ceremony and wore a Kimono. Furthermore, they accept your privacy if you just want to relax in your own room and if you have any questions they will help you right away. The room is convenient and the bed was comfortable. I really recommend this place in Tokyo!

  • Mari, Ken and Gaku are a lovely host family.
This is a great location and the room was very clean. I particularly liked the bed - so comfortable and with very clean, crisp sheet and those lovely memory foam pillows that seem so common in Japan. Just how I like a bed!

My husband stayed here only one of the two nights booked because my husband surprise booked a room elsewhere for our honeymoon.

I would definitely stay here again if travelling alone or with friends because it feels very homey.

Probably won't stay here again with my husband though.
