About this listing
Escape the heat and crowds of the beach. Enjoy the cool mountain breezes and magnificent sunsets from the covered porch of our fully equipped cabina. It is rustic but very comfortable. We recommend a 4x4 to get to us as we are on an unpaved road.
Want to stay on a working horse ranch? Rent the cabina at Rancho Tranquilo and watch the horses play in your back yard! This two bedroom cabina comes with a fully equipped kitchen. You'll love sitting on the rocking chairs on the treetop front porch, watching the toucans, enjoying the delicious ocean breezes and incredible sunsets. Plus you'll be staying in the magical Diamante Valley, the "valley of the waterfalls." Take a horseback tour on one of Rancho Tranquilo's healthy happy horses, and see the real Costa Rica!
Private Guided Horse tours to the La Paz waterfalls with a typical Costa Rican lunch served on location at the falls. The fee is $70 per person.
Interaction with Guests
As much or little as the guests needs. Most Guests come here to get a way from it all and we want to let them have all the space they need.
We are in the mountains of the Diamante Valley. The valley of waterfalls. Amazing views from the cabin porch out over the valley to the Pacific Ocean and Manuel Antonio National Park
Very limited public transportation. You can get via taxi from Dominical, Uvita or San Isidro de General. Renting your own vehicle is best and we highly recommend a 4x4 and the mountain roads to us are unpaved and steep.
No pets, smoking outside only please.
The reservation was canceled 23 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
OK, so the 4 of us had a great stay, with a couple of issues. The building is well set up for two couples, the kitchen well equipped, and the view from the veranda is spectacular. The horses are fun to watch / interact with.
Issues: this is just a note. My wife and I spend a lot of time in Costa Rica (this trip is 3 months) and we're used to driving "difficult" roads. The road to Rancho Tranquilo is stone and dirt, and is literally down a mountain, up a mountain. 4 wheel drive is a necessity. The trip from the main road to the Rancho is at least 20 minutes. Be prepared, chill, and you'll do fine.
The other note: ants! Muchas ants! The one bedroom was, fine, ours had a colony traipsing across the bed. We asked for and received bug spray and used it liberally, and still they marched across us. At our next hotel, 200 dead ants fell out of one of our backpacks.
Again, we're used to Costa Rica and to insects, but this did seem just on the edge of acceptability.
But here's the point: we will go back! The view and the surroundings outweigh the issues, but newcomers to Costa Rica need to understand that "stuff happens."
Cabina at Rancho was a perfect place of rest for us on our adventurous travel from southern Corcovado to northern Nosara. The cabina is cozy and well equipped to offer comfortable stay, and the spacious porch with rocking chairs and hammock makes it really hard to leave the house;). Views of the valley are breathtaking, as are animals flying by - we have spotted tucans, humming birds, blue butterflies, and off course - Linda's beautiful horses. Linda is a great host. Bonus: Spectacular sunsets!! . P.S. Try to get there before dark - good rule of thumb for all Costa Rican travels - most roads are dirt roads and it's very easy to get lost after the sun sets (6pm). We had a great stay, thank you Linda!!
This was a very special, unique experience. Linda was a wonderful host. I plan to return!
