This is a beautiful and tranquil jewel in Tortuguero, Costa Rica and I'm listing it for my friend Rey.
Taylor's Place offers lodging and a beautiful garden-restaurant surrounded by lush tropical flowers and plants. Amazing atmosphere, very romantic
ROOM # 1 with AIR CONDITIONING
The place is very private and quiet as it is a bit away from the hustle of Tortuguero’s Main Street and it's Caribbean nightlife and loud music. However, the beach and park entrance are close by and so are all other attractions.
The room offered has a small ensuite bathroom with hot shower, fan and Air Conditioning. The room offered here sleeps 2 comfortably (full bed) or 3 (second bed is a single), but bigger parties could rent all 2 rooms and it would be like staying at your own place.
Simply put, it's a beautiful place and you will be happy to have stayed at Taylor’s Place!
Guests are welcome to spend time in the Tropical Garden, great for bird watching and enjoy the hammocks and outdoor sitting areas.
The beach is only a short stroll away and so is the center of Tortuguero Village.
Interaction with Guests
That is up to you: entirely.
We respect the space and silence, but are also happy if you join (email hidden) and restaurant.
The short list of thing to do and tours to do include the Canoe Tour through the waterways of the Tortuguero National Park, a guided or explore on your own Kayak Tour, a guided nighttime Turtle Walk and for those up to it some Sportfishing out on the ocean.
Rey can help you get these set up, but there are also many places in town where you can book these tours.
Arrival is usually by boat from La Pavona, this can be done with public transportation or via direct shuttle service from San Jose. Time permitting you will be picked up at the dock.
You might also fly in from San Jose, check the net for last minute specials.
Other Things to Note
While Taylor's Place does not offer Breakfast service, we are happy to coordinate breakfast with a nearby hostel. Please ask us if interested.
Loved the place. Ray was awesome. My son was impressed with his cooking. The only problem I had was the wifi was not working in my room. Would definitely recommend the place.
We really enjoyed our stay at Taylor's place. First of all, we had to change our arrival date at the last minute but the host was more than happy to accommodate and let us change our dates at short notice - thanks!
The room was basic and clean with a/c and private bathroom. We enjoyed fresh and tasty food at Taylor's place one evening which was set in their beautiful garden. Rey's mother was wonderful and showed us the room and gave us a coconut each to cool down one afternoon!
We very much enjoyed our stay here!
Our room was very clean and the most comfy bed we had in all of our travels. The location was perfect. A short walk to both the beach and the village. There is no access to a fridge, so completely reliant on restaurants and "packaged" food. We would have liked a couple of lawn chairs and outdoor table of some sort, but we were easily able to improvise. Our host, Ray, was very nice and helpful and an amazing cook! He was always there from 3:00 on (if not before), and his Mom, Rosalita lived right next door. So never a problem finding them. The property is absolutely stunning! Abundant parrots and aracaris and other birds there every day.
Beautiful room! Rey and his mother were so friendly and helpful! It was so nice to have A/C (we were told it was one of the only place to stay in Tortugero with units in every room), and the lounge area is gorgeous to relax in. The food at the restauraunt was great, and the pina coladas were to die for! My boyfriend and I agree that we would definitely stay here again given the opportunity.
Ricardo met us straight off the boat, guided us to Taylor's Place, and set us up with some tours. He was super friendly and helpful. We also had the pleasure of meeting Rosalina, who helps keep the place tidy :) There was a communication barrier as she didn't speak english and we, unfortunately, only speak the most basic of Spanish, but she was able to help us despite this, and was very sweet.
The place was a bit small and cramped but was comfortable and mostly very clean. And had A/C - a huge plus!
As others have mentioned, Rey's dinner is not to be missed! He was kind enough to serve us after he had already started cleaning up for the night. I felt terrible but he insisted, and I was very grateful (especially because he wasn't open the next (our last) night so we would have missed it completely!) It was a simple but delicious meal and in our top 2 favorite meals in our 3 weeks in Costa Rica. Plus the lighting and foliage in the yard where you eat makes for a great setting. So lovely!
Ricardo's tours (night walk and morning kayak tour) were wonderful. He is a great and knowledgable guide, we would definitely recommend booking him! He also arranged our boat ride out of Tortuguero.
All in all, we had a great time in Tortuguero and very nice stay at Taylor's place. Would happily recommend it, and stay again ourselves if we find our way back to Tortuguero one day!
Great place in Tortuguero. Very clean and comfortable rooms. The village is very small, so the place is five minutes max from anywhere such as groceries, boat launch and the (website hidden) is a big plus!

Love to read, enjoy the days as they come. Every now and then a stray comes along - some have stayed, while other cats and dogs have found new homes, so there is always some assortment of 4 legged friends around.
I have started to add a couple of additional listings from very good friends and I do vouch for each of the listings added. I hope that these listings can round out a trip to Costa Rica!
