This is an opportunity to stay with a rural Zambian family in a hand-built earth and thatched hut. It's in the village of Chibote, Luapula Province, about 2 hours from Kawambwa. Christopher and Irene -- who are lovely -- will be your hosts. You'll experience life in a rural village and be treated to amazing Zambian hospitality.

The space
To be honest, this is not for everyone. But if you're really laid back and want to experience life in the village this is a great way to do it.

Just a little background: I've been a friend of Christopher and Irene for nearly 20 years. I was a volunteer in the village years ago and lived there for 2 years. After having stayed there with my own family in Jan 2017, I'm now just helping them by trying to facilitate some guests. I'll wire directly to Christopher any money that is collected through Airbnb.

Where you’ll be

Kawambwa, Luapula Province, Zambia

You'll be staying in the middle of the village. The village has a few very basic stores but don't expect much more than the absolute basics.

During your stay

The house is small and you will have your own room. That said, there's not a whole lot of privacy. In fact, the local kids will likely be very interested in you (visitors are rare) and will probably come by and stare at you.

Christopher and Irene will take you around the village and surrounding area if you wish. You can see their farm(s), other villages, the bush, some waterfalls, etc. They are farmers and will likely have some work to do in the fields (depending on the season) but I expect that they will make a huge effort to make you comfortable and take you around (on foot or in your vehicle) wherever you want to go.
