  • The house was as gorgeous as the photo’s depicted, and the waterfall in the backyard was stunning. As we were on a girl’s trip we fully utilised the 3 bedrooms, and 3 bathrooms was an absolute blessing.
A 20 minute stroll to town on mostly pitch black roads, it was close enough to walk whilst having the sense of tranquillity away from the hustle and bustle.
Kari and Kristie made collection of the keys super easy and provided us with several maps to start our exploration.
Highly recommended if you want a little bit of luxury and serenity whilst in Hilo.

  • Thanks Kari and Kristi for hosting us at your house at Reeds Island! It was a perfect location for exploring the Hilo side of the island; from Wai'pio Valley in the North to Punaluu County State Beach towards the South. The sounds and views of the waterfall and river at the house were spectacular. When we arrived the first night, the coque frogs seemed pretty loud but we quickly got used to them and they added to the charm of the location. Overall, the house was very clean, well equipped and relaxing. And the hosts were nice and accommodating. Highly recommended!

  • It was completely lovely. Perfect location. We lived staying in Hilo. Spent the first part of our big island vacation at a resort in waikoloa, but all 6 of us loved Hilo the best. Great restaurants and coffee shops in town. Great farmers market. Great great great. Would highly recommend. And the house and surroundings are beautiful. Would definitely stay here again.

The Waterfall Retreat truly was just that, a fabulous retreat for a few days! The home was spacious, beautifully furnished, and the beds were extremely comfortable. The setting, right above the river and waterfall, was fantastic. We loved having breakfast on the deck overlooking the river! The location was perfect being just about five minutes from downtown Hilo, restaurants, and the farmers market. Kari met me upon check in and showed me around the house and was readily available if there we had any problems or needs. I would definitely recommend this property to others!! Five star rating all the way!

Thank you, Walda! We are happy to hear you enjoyed your stay!

  • This property is amazing - the views of the waterfall itself are enough to give a 5-star rating! The house was plenty big enough to accommodate our 5 adults, and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we could've needed. My only complaint is that we didn't spend long enough here! Thanks George and Kristie (and Kari), I'll definitely be back :)

  • We LOVED our stay at Waterfall Retreat, Reeds Island. Kristie met us upon our arrival and explained everything to us. The house was spacious, and perfect for our needs as a family of four. • Great location, beautiful home and beautiful paintings by the host. We were humbled to be able to stay here. Don't forget to checkout the farmer's market. Also Kristie was extremely helpful with tips to take our little one.

  • We loved the house from the moment we walked in and enjoyed this beautiful house thoroughly! It’s on a quiet lane of homes yet so conveniently close to Hilo town, farmers’ markets, and other activities. We enjoyed cooking in the gorgeous kitchen, and dining in the house and on the deck. It was so nice to just sit on the deck and watch the Wailuku river flow by – we will always remember the beautiful waterfalls! The photos on the website accurately portray this lovely house, which is charming and beautiful, immaculate, so comfortably furnished, with a well equipped kitchen. The entire house is so tastefully decorated. Kristie’s paintings are especially beautiful, adding the island touch. Our hosts were always there for us. George contacted us as soon as we booked, offering any assistance, and Kristie was so kind as to accommodate our very early arrival with a warm greeting, and was always available, responding quickly to any questions we had. We certainly look forward to a return visit!
