We remodeled in 2013 and would love to share our home. This house is in a great spot, close to the parks, shops, restaurants and bars and conveniently located off a bus route and the new max line that take you directly to downtown Portland!

The space

We recently completed this highly energy-efficient remodel with an open floor plan. Light and bright kitchen / dining / living area plus a guest room (double bed) and full bath downstairs.

There are two kid's bedrooms upstairs - one bedroom has a twin bunk bed, and the other has a crib. The kid's bath has two sections - the inner section is a full bath. You can close the door to the outer section which has a sink plus the washer and dryer. So one kid can shower while the other is brushing his / her teeth!

The master suite has a cool view towards Westmoreland Park, a queen bed, and it's own en-suite bath.

Some selected features:

- HUGE front porch with comfortable chairs, a picnic table and a space heater
- Comfortable back patio with seating, fruit trees, a rain garden ...
- Energy-efficient HVAC keeps house at a comfortable 70 degrees year-round
- Gas range and oven
- Barbecue plumbed to natural gas so no running out of propane!
- Flat-screen TV with a sound system in living room with an Apple TV, including Netflix access
- We have a Type A Accessory Short Term Rental permit issued by the City of Portland

Guest access

We're pleased to have you as a guest in our house. You'll have access to all areas except for the basement and the garage. You're welcome to use our common spices (salt, pepper, etc) but please don't use our other pantry or food items.

Interaction with guests

We won't be here while you're here so the house is all yours. We'll leave contact information so you can get in touch with us with any questions.

And our neighbors are great!

What a beautiful home, and a beautiful host! I was quite surprised that someone with a Home of this caliber was willing to open it up for all of us to use. Great location, great neighbors… And super kid friendly.

Casie's home is warm, inviting, airy and full of light. The layout was perfect for my mom who came with me, husband and two kids. She slept in the downstairs room and us 4 were upstairs. I'd have to say the best and most important features of Casie's home were 1) her home was super clean and 2) the mattresses was super comfy. The master BR has a temperpedic mattress, and my mom (who also can't stand a non-supportive mattress) was happy in her room. Seriously, a mattress can make or break your overall function on a vacation, and Casie's mattresses delivered the support I need in a bed! My 6 year old daughter ended up loving sleeping in the crib believe it or not, so needless to say Casie's home scored in the bed department! The location of the house was super convenient as well. It is about 15-20 min by car from downtown Portland (OMSI, tram, Burnside St for Voodoo Donuts, Washington Park, Rose Garden, Powell books). The neighborhood is just minutes from the Historic Eastmoreland, a beautiful public golf course and Reed College). Anyone who likes to jog, this is the place to stay because the neighborhood is beautiful, lots of Tudor and New England style homes and the residential streets are really quiet and serene. There is a wetland reserve area by their home and is a really nice stroll just minutes from the house. The pier that meanders through the wetland is short but very picturesque and again is a nice surprise as I wasn't expecting to find this on my am jog. The playground is interesting-- definitely better for kids age 3-6, but it makes use of natural elements in its design. Their is a kind of man made square duck pond that is great if you want to see ducks, and there's some basketball courts nearby as well. Casie's house is a great reflection of a young, budding family, with art work from her kids displayed. We took use of her Tupperware and the gas stove for our eat in breakfasts and take-along lunches. I inadvertently lost one of her kids' cold pack lunch boxes and she was very gracious with hearing the news, and ithe issue was resolved by me quickly (thanks to Amazon!) . We loved the bath towels, a line from Costco, but special to Oregon as they don't carry it in CA. The porch area is beautifully furnished. We got lucky and we're able to watch the neighbor's 4 th of July firecrackers show seated on the comfy couches and the 3 little kids' chairs. Casie's backyard garden is really neat too. My kids enjoyed inspecting all of the veggies she had growing, along with grape vines and fruit trees. You will just LOVE staying in this updated Craftsman. We sure did!

Casie's house is beautiful, clean, and very comfortable. It has great house amenities and perfect for a weekend stay with a group of friends in Portland. We had a car so it was easy to commute to downtown and explore. I highly recommend her house to everyone!

Casie's home was so comfortable for our group of 6 women. It was the perfect spot for our annual sister-in-law getaway, with plenty of space for us to congregate, but also quiet spots to sit and read a book. The beautifully updated open-concept kitchen was our base of operations, where we planned our days over coffee and regrouped in the evenings for appetizers. Casie left us coffee from the neighborhood coffee shop and some delicious handcrafted butter which went great with the homemade sourdough bread we had with us. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and the way the bathrooms are organized made it so easy to for multiple people to get ready to go all at once. And the front porch! Even on a cool day, we couldn't resist lounging in the furniture out there. The neighborhood was perfect for us too. Portland is centrally located for the six of us so we meet there often, but this was our first time staying in a residential area. There was so much to explore nearby on foot. We had fantastic meals, browsed the shops, and took a wonderful hike along the Willamette River without getting into our cars once. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

What a lovely home!!! Our stay was fantastic. Casie and family made us feel right at home from the start... such thoughtful touches: fresh flowers, a kind note, snacks for us and our kids. The house is gorgeous and has lovely natural light and a great layout. The garden/yard and the enviable large porch were also fun to enjoy. We traveled with our three-year-old and one-year-old and they were so excited to have toys to play with and books to read. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms felt luxurious. The neighborhood is very walk-able... two blocks away from an amazing park and the MAX train into the city and four short blocks away the other direction to a plethora of restaurants, coffee shops and stores. Just perfect. Would definitely stay again.

Casie and her family are very welcoming, generous, and responsive hosts, and their home is such a wonderful place to stay. It is beautiful, super clean, and thoughtfully organized. It is very family-friendly and worked beautifully for our family of 5, including a newborn, a toddler, and a grade-schooler. That said, I expect a group of all grown-ups would be very pleased with and comfortable in the space, as well. The beds in the master and guestroom are very comfortable--a big plus in our book. The outdoor space is just as thoughtfully arranged, with a lovely front porch and beautiful landscaping front and back. We enjoyed most of our meals outside either on the porch or in the backyard. And what a great location, too: in a very friendly, walkable neighborhood and near parks, bike trails, and the Sellwood neighborhood restaurants and businesses. Highly recommended all around!

My friends and I stayed at Casie's house in Portland and LOVED it!! She was so sweet to have left us some homemade chips, salsa (delicious), and watermelon. The house was adorable and had tons of character. We enjoyed the outdoor backyard area with heater lamps, super soft towels, and great neighborhood location. We also had 2 babies with us and the house was very kid-friendly! We did not spend a ton of time in the area but did stop by Rose City Coffee, which was a quick 5 minute walk. Thank you Casie and family for a wonderful stay!

I love to travel, although my husband and I have not had the chance to do much of it, except to visit family, since our daughter was born in 2011. Before that, we lived in London for a couple of years and got to see quite a bit of Europe. Exploring our own huge, wonderful country is next on the list, and we're getting through it bit by bit.
