The Inaba's Kona Hotel is a family run hotel close to town and has been serving resident and visitors alike for 86 years. This 1920's hotel was the "first" hotel in North Kona and is located in the small art & coffee town of Holualoa, a short drive up the hill from Kailua-Kona. Popular with Europeans and backpackers, this hotel is clean, delightful and will charm those on a budget and who have an appreciation for historical sites. Single & Double occupancy with separate men's & women's bathrooms down the hall.
There is a great restaurant and coffee shop across the street as well as a mom and pop grocery store, post office and numerous art galleries and gift shops located within short walking distance.
This hotel is NOT by the beach. It's an approximate drive of 8 minutes from the nearest beach so a form of transportation is necessary if you’re interested in touring and discovering the island.

The historic hotel has a lot of charm and character - my wife fell in love with the place when she set eyes on it. We didn't get to meet Staci (on both our nights we were in pretty late) but everyone else we met in the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful. The room is small but clean (loved the high ceilings) and the shared bathroom has everything you'd need. We found the pin code locks to be very convenient, it's great to get around Kona without wondering where we put the keys.
We'd come back here again for sure, cheer all!
Very cozy and clean, 10min drive to Kona downtown, I had a very nice stay!
The hotel was easy to find, and was in a convenient location and good neighborhood. The hotel and room were clean, and the bed very comfortable. Because I arrived after hours and left early in the morning I did not get the opportunity to meet Staci in person, but she was very friendly and helpful over email, she communicated well leading up to my stay, and provided good feedback on things to do in the area. I enjoyed staying here, and would stay again.
Staci was very friendly and made our stay very comfortable. We enjoyed staying at the Historic Hotel, and would recommend it for anyone not looking for anything fancy, but a comfortable place to sleep.

About the Host, Staci
I am one of the family members of this wonderful 86 year old historic family owned hotel. I enjoy sharing our island home with kama'aina (old timers) and malihini (new comers).
