The Space

This is really what experiencing Hong Kong is all about. This studio apartment is in the heart of Wan Chai, a district stepped in tradition and sandwiched between Central, the heart of Asia's financial capital and Causewaybay, a true symbol of why Hong Kong is considered a Shoppers' Paradise.

Taxi's, Buses, Trams, Underground transport are all within 3 minute walking distance. The view of this apartment is a breathtaking site of one of Hong Kong's most treasured historical grade sites, the Blue House (easily found through search engines). The area is quickly being transformed with an infusion of art galleries, new world class eateries and bars that take advantage of the city young longing to enjoy the traditional part of the city while also enjoying the exciting vibe happening around the area.

This open studio has a large double bed and a nice lounge sofa PLUS:

1) FREE ultra high speed wireless and LAN internet,
2) Full Kitchen with Smeg branded Fridge, cooker and microwave
3) Basic Cable access and High Definition local channels.
4) Entertainment Audio system and LCD TV with DVD player.
5) iHome iPhone/iPod charging stand
6) New air condition and ceiling fan for the hotter months.
7) Washer (I do recommend the laundromat immediately next to the building as they are cheap fast and good, allowing you to explore the city and let them take care of the "dirty" work)

I hope you enjoy your stay in Hong Kong, one of the most exciting and safest places in the world! This is my home city and I love every bit of it.

I look forward to hosting you and sharing with you my 30 years experience in this town.

As much as possible or invisible if you want. I will try to meet with arriving guests and show them the area. Whenever guests need information or recommendations, I am always available via messaging or phone.

Wan Chai MTR station is 5 min walk away.
Trams, buses, mini buses, taxis are all just a stone's throw away to get you all throughout Hong Kong.

Other Things to Note

Once you arrive in Hong Kong, everything is quite simple and all starts with a call from the FREE phones at the airport located in the hall immediately after you pass through baggage customs. There is also a Visitors Center there if you would like to pick up some maps, local travel guides, etc. to read on your way to the apartment. If you need a local SIM card, there is a 7-11 in the middle section of the main arrival hall where they see all types of SIM cards, I usually prefer the PCCW brand as it is the larges local operator.

  • Super host (host's mom actually), great intro to the neighborhood, excellent location, nice and clean apartment! 5/5
Seven-eleven across the street, nice bar in the next building, couple of fine restaurants and bars few blocks away, food market nearby and all.
    Definitely recommended.

  • We greatly enjoyed our stay at Jason's flat. As a family of three with a one-year-old, we found it perfectly suited our needs. It was clean and had everything we needed for our 8-night holiday. The unit is furnished adequately and the location is wonderful. Our son loved looking out the windows from the second floor, and we discovered two lovely playgrounds on the block. There are shops, a wet market, upscale tavern and full-service laundry all within a minute's walk. Since we opted to travel with a child-carrier backpack instead of a pram, we were happy to be so close to public transport. We found our way all around Hong Kong via MTR, trams and busses. Most importantly, we found that staying in a flat added a bit of authenticity to our holiday that staying in a hotel wouldn't have. Overall, we're very pleased with the flat, with Jason's family and our first experience with AirBnB!

  • I stayed at this cool little studio in April '14 and it was just a great experience from start to finish...

The host, Jason, responded quickly and clearly to my initial inquiry, and met me in person upon my arrival to give me a quick tour of the studio and local area.

The studio itself is great: modern, bright, efficiently designed, nice appliances, and most importantly - very clean. It's fair to say it looks as good as in the photos provided and we found it very comfortable for 2 people. Overall it felt like we had a cool little place in central HK, and I would definitely stay again if I ever visit HK again!

It's nicely located in a side-street just opposite the historic Blue House, and the area feels like a good mix of 'traditional' (think local businesses and a small temple up the road) and gentrified (there are some quite 'trendy' bars and restaurants nearby). It's also close to the local subway stop, there are several bus stops nearby, and thanks to the Blue House being opposite - all taxi drivers know exactly where to go. Also worth pointing out that this isn't the dodgy / boozy part of Wanchai at all - I felt really safe the whole time I was there, even walking home late at night..

Lastly I will second the recommendation of the nearby (10 mins walk) jogging / walking path Bowen Road - you have to take a nearby elevator and walk up a short hill to get there but, Wow! The views are awesome. If you stay here make sure to ask the host how to get there - it's one of the best runs I have had in a real long time, but would also be well worth walking the route as well!

  • I recommend this apartment because of the newly renovated interior, location and responsive host, Jason. Everything was provided and I did not miss or need to call Jason. The interior is modernized. I could not believe that I was staying in such a nice place, as HK has mostly small and dated apartment. Jason's is a gem that you will appreciate after a day spent traveling in the airplane. I could walk everywhere within 10 minutes. I will stay in this apartment again when I go to HK in the future.

  • Jason is great and there is nothing that I can think of that didn't exceed my expectations. It was a beautiful place in one of the best locations in all of Hong Kong. It was so much nicer than a hotel. It was just a few steps to transportation, great restaurants and even the running path. I noticed that Jason had a couple of apartments in town and I would definitely look to see if any were available the next time I am in Hong Kong before I even thought to look anywhere else.

  • Very highly recommended.

The apartment is fantastic and in one of the best locations in Hong Kong. The apartment is in an older-style walk-up building but has been very recently renovated and everything inside is spotlessly clean and brand new. There is a lot of natural light from the windows which stretch the whole way along one wall of the apartment (and which give a great and very unique view of Wan Chai), and there is a small balcony as well. All appliances and fittings are brand new and excellent. For a studio apartment in Hong Kong I found it very spacious, and is by far and away the best place I have stayed in Hong Kong (having been to the city more than 5 times now, staying at different hotels).

Despite how great the apartment itself was, the best thing about this place is the location. Is hard to describe how conveniently located it is, but you could literally crawl to the following places: a laundry shop; a 7/11; a Starbucks; a bus station; two great bars; a local Hong Kong cha can ting (small HK style restaurant); a historic temple; a fruit market. The subway and tram stops are less than 5 minutes walk away through some of Wan Chai's great lane ways.

Jason was a great host, extremely quick to respond to queries etc, and we were able to get into the apartment within 5 minutes of arriving in the area despite being an hour early.

I would recommend this place to anyone and will certainly try to stay here again next time I am in HK.

I've enjoyed traveling to different parts of the world my entire life and absolutely love meeting locals at each place I visit to get first hand knowledge of the destination. I've made many friends across the globe and look forward to visiting them each time I'm back in the region. I've called Hong Kong my home for the past 30 years, this is absolutely a brilliant little place with so much local flavor and western influences in this Chinese city. I look forward to meeting lots of overseas friends and pointing out the many local favorites so every visitor has a chance to experience the best of this great city. Happy travels! Jason
