If you've ever thought you'd be right at home in a log cabin in the woods, you've found the right place. There is nothing like a log home. Claw-foot bath tub is also a shower. Full size bed in the loft is cozy and quiet. Couch also makes out into a queen size bed, if needed, for additional (up to two) guests with no additional fees. New TV, DVD-HDR and VHS player. Free satellite channels and WIFI. A great selection of books, old and new, promises to enhance your stay with a little extra reading time! Stay in the cabin just for the pure enjoyment of it and the country you are in. We've purposely avoided hanging a clock so your time is yours, and yours alone. We live in an area that has an Occupancy Tax of 8%. Airbnb will charge this to you and you'll be asked to accept. We are registered with Lane County and have been issued a Certificate of Authority to collect the tax. We also have a separate listing on airbnb for our Log Home at https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/1965343. At $495/per night it's TRULY a retreat and accommodates up to 8 overnight guests.
Since we are on a well, we have recently installed charcoal water filters to the log cabin and to our log home (also listed on Airbnb) to help eliminate a sulphur-like smell, found in our area. We have the water tested and it is perfectly safe for drinking, showering, etc. We provide some bottled water for all our guests.
We hope you enjoy your stay in the little log cabin!
This log cabin is more than a rental.......It's a retreat..... at the end of a country road....memories are waiting for you to enjoy. Walk down to the pond, use the Kayaks awhile, then leisurely enjoy the open grassy areas. 2.5 hours from Sisters, 1 hour from the coast (Florence), 15 minutes to Eugene and if you're interested in a Duck game, we're just 24 min. to the UO Campus. If wine tasting interests you, this little log cabin is just 15-20 minutes away from surrounding vineyards and wine tasting rooms. See directions and local venues listed under "Guidebook" at the top of the screen. Superb dining also available at King Estate Winery. June 26th - July 13th Oregon Bach Festival at the Hult Center (20 minutes away). There is also a great 2 mile walk around Peaceful Valley that promises to start your day off on the right foot! A great little stream and waterfall complement this beautiful property and are right outside your cabin door. Property is landscaped and has several nature walks to choose from. Fire pit outside your cabin door, under the stars, makes for a wonderful destination in the evening to roast marshmallows or sip on a glass if your favorite wine. Enhance your stay with the enjoyment of a camp fire and relax to your heart's content. Map of property, located inside, shows areas that you may access as well as private areas belonging to the main Log Home. AT&T Cellphone coverage works outside in front yard, otherwise WIFI works well inside.
Interaction with Guests
We live on the property, in the log home across the way, however knowing that a little cabin is such a desirable retreat for a get-away, we absolutely respect our guests' privacy. Check-in and Check-out times can be adjusted. Let us know what will work best for you and we will be happy to see if we can accommodate your wishes. Standard check out time is 11:00 am and check in time is 3:00 pm unless other arrangements have been made. We have a home nearby so if there is anything more you need - just let us know! We will respect your privacy and yet will try to do everything we can to make your stay a "Notch Above the Rest"! :) Spiral staircase may be a challenge for some and not for others.
Our neighborhood consists of a few homes and barns, dotted here and there, along our lazy, country road. Since it is not a through street, and we are at the very end of the road, we get very little traffic! A nice walk really should be on your list of things to do. The setting is picturesque and peaceful, so remember to bring your camera. Early risers see deer, squirrels, raccoon, and birds. They are fed and protected here. We take pride in cultivating organic methods of grounds-keeping and sustainability for all wildlife, now and for years to come.
If you bicycle....bring yours! We're only 6 miles from W 11th Ave. and 8 miles from Chambers Street. The Lorane Valley is a popular route for bicycle and unicycle enthusiasts and the scenery is second to none. You'll enjoy the back roads and won't want to miss touring the wineries while you're here.
Other Things to Note
You'll have a Weber barbecue (briquettes and lighter fluid included) on your private deck to use. So bring your favorite food, bottle of wine or beer, and plan to spend some time relaxing, or venture down by the pond for an experience you won't soon forget! You will have your own fire pit for a campfire, located just across from the front of the cabin (some wood provided). Please note: The fire pit that is located behind our house and at the top of the rocked steps leading up from the pond is not included. Please see map on the back of the little log cabin door for areas that are shaded in grey and not included in your stay.
Please remove shoes. Please allow your pet to come inside with you! Not only do we allow pets, but we love them. We have two outside dogs so we require that your pet be well socialized with both people and other pets. Please be aware that there is wildlife in our area that may run through the yard from time to time.
No smoking inside cabin. Please be careful to remove all cigarette waste to garbage receptacles, as the ground cover is hemlock bark and is flammable. Please ask for our complete Guest Policy document when booking. We will be happy to send it to you. We have a copy in the cabin as well and ask all our guests to read and respect our written policy as it pertains to our property.
We are not on city water. Since we are on a well we have our water tested professionally for safety. We have a charcoal filtration system in place for taste and smell but in some dryer months there may be a sulfur odor. We also have a PUR water-filter pitcher in the refrigerator for fresh tasting water and we provide some bottled water as well..
Warm and cozy, this cabin is the perfect get-away. Selection of books, DVDs, satellite TV, and WIFI make this a comfy yet practical destination after touring the wine country or going to a Duck Football game.
Staying with Mike and Linda was absolutely lovely. Their cabin is the perfect home away from home. It was so cozy! We really appreciated the peaceful atmosphere here. It was exactly what we needed to relax and unwind.
My mom, boyfriend, dog and I all came up from Oakley, California to Eugene for my orientation at U of O. The cabin was perfect and in an amazing location! We had so much fun and got to relax in the beautiful scenery while our dog played fetch and got to stretch his legs.
We relaxed down by the lake and even saw deer!
The cabin was very clean and well put together! We had everything that we needed there for us, including wood on the fire pit!
Mike and Linda were so very sweet and even greeted us with home made cookies!
This is the kind of hospitality, scenery, and relaxation that you can't get at a hotel.
Thank you so very much! And we will definitely be returning!
What a great place!! Quiet, quaint and peaceful. The surroundings were perfect....away. Loved every minute of it!!
What a cute little cabin in the woods! It's got everything you need - comfy bed, full kitchen, couch, satellite TV, Wi-Fi, etc. Also some great outdoor living spaces including a pond where you can swim and kayak! Really peaceful place in nature - and only 20min or so outside of Eugene! Also Linda and Mike were helpful hosts before and during our stay. We'll definitely consider staying here again when visiting Eugene next time.
Thank you Greg!! We are so happy to hear that you had fun down at the pond while you were here. It has been a pleasure to host your stay and thanks so much for cleaning up! We found the cabin in order and even the dishes washed. It would be a pleasure to host your stay - any time you're in our neck of the woods!
Most wonderful experience. Fantastic hosts, beautiful property, peaceful, quiet, accurately described in the listing. Would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a comfortable stay near Eugene. We'll be back, for sure!!
Thank you Heidi for the little black-and-white cow Tea Pot for our cabin! What a nice surprise! That was so thoughtful of you to send it - and the cute thank you card!! We are thankful for you too and so happy that you enjoyed your stay. We look forward to having you come back!
We had an awesome experience at the Log Cabin in the Woods. It was over and above our expectations, and we enjoyed meeting and talking with our hosts, Mike and Linda. The cabin was very cozy and comfortable and was stocked with anything we may have needed. It was quiet and very peaceful which is exactly what we were looking for. After a day we felt very much at home. The next time we visit the Eugene area, we will definitely make this our home away from home again.
Sharon and Jon: So glad you enjoyed your stay. Our sunniest and best months are June, July, August, September and October. Five months are pretty good considering we get nothing but rainfall the rest of the time! LOL! We are so happy you found the peacefulness of our cabin to be just what you were looking for. Thank you for your comments and for coming to stay in the Little Log Cabin!

About the Host, Mike And Linda
We enjoy family gatherings at home, our two great dogs, fishing, camping, oil painting, gardening, working in our little fruit tree orchard, and planning great family get-togethers. Our motto is: Cream Always Rises to the Top; and The More the Merrier! We love to barbecue and entertain friends and family in our home, often. We are fortunate to be able to offer our little log cabin and our log home on airbnb. We are situated in the beautiful Willamette Valley, right in the heart of great wine tasting country! 5 wineries are within 15-20 minutes of our property and Eugene is only a 15 minute drive away. For Duck football fans, this is a great place to stay. Only 20 minutes to Autzen Stadium! The beautiful Oregon coast is just 1 hour away. The Portland Airport, Cascade Mountains, Mt. Bachelor, The Three Sisters mountain range, and the little Western town of Sisters are about 2-3 hours drive. Major airlines service the Eugene airport 20 minutes away from us. We enjoy living in the Willamette Valley and continue to discover new places to visit. We love going to the Hult Center for the Performing Arts (on the Broadway Circuit!) as well as the Very Little Theater, a venue for local performing artists. We are fond of the Oregon Electric Station for dinner as well as King Estates Winery for exquisite dining; both only 20 minutes away. And we always suggest the 5th Street Public Market for an exceptional down town experience: local brew pubs, wine tasting, jazz, ...Eugene has it all. This is what we like about living here! :)
