Interaction with Guests

Check-in and Check-out times can be adjusted. Let us know what will work best for you and we will be happy to see if we can accommodate your wishes. Standard check out time is 11:00 am and check in time is 3:00 pm unless other arrangements have been made. We have a home nearby so if there is anything more you need - just let us know! We will respect your privacy and yet will try to do everything we can to make your stay a "Notch Above the Rest"! :) Sorry, this listing is not suitable for very young children, due to the spiral staircase.

The Neighborhood

Our neighborhood consists of a few homes and barns, dotted here and there, along our lazy, country road. Since it is not a through street, and we are at the very end of the road, we get very little traffic! A nice walk really should be on your list of things to do. The setting is picturesque and peaceful, so remember to bring your camera. Early risers see deer, squirrels, raccoon, and birds. They are protected here. We take pride in cultivating organic methods of grounds-keeping and sustainability for all wildlife, now and for years to come.

Getting around

If you bicycle....bring yours! We're only 6 miles from W 11th Ave. and 8 miles from Chambers Street. The Lorane Valley is a popular route for bicycle and unicycle enthusiasts and the scenery is second to none. You'll enjoy the back roads and won't want to miss touring the wineries while you're here.

Other Things to Note

You'll have a Weber barbecue (briquettes and lighter fluid included) on your private deck to use. So bring your favorite food, bottle of wine or beer, and plan to spend some time relaxing on your private deck, or venture down by the pond for an experience you won't soon forget! Please note: upper fire pit at the top of rocked steps leading to our home is not included.

  • Sometimes you need to get away from everything and just relax. This was what I was looking for when I booked Linda and Mike's log cabin, and it's exactly what I got! It was peaceful and homey--with the unexpected bonus of very little AT&T cell reception indoors, so no one could bother me. (It worked just fine outside the cabin, so don't worry if you need to make a call. Just step outside!)

I couldn't have asked for a more peaceful stay. The place is stocked with everything I could've needed--including fresh fruit and juice, courtesy of my excellent hosts. Not to mention the fact that there's a little fan in the sleeping space that greatly aided my need for background noise to fall asleep. I doubt that this is the intended purpose of the fan, but it truly makes this place feel like home. They've thought of everything! Thanks for a great stay, Mike & Linda. I hope I'll be back. :)

So nice to hear the little cabin provided such a nice respite for you, Ashley. You are so welcome to come back anytime and hope you enjoy the new, refreshed selection of books when you do! Our Log Home-Stream Runs Thru Airbnb listing has an endless supply of great books to rotate into the little cabin's library! We look forward to making your stay with us always a notch-above-the-rest!

  • Great place to stay if you like peace & quiet in the beautiful countryside surrounding Eugene. The cabin is small, but elegant, and thoughtfully equipped with everything you might need for the essentials of dining, sleeping and getting away from it all, including a lovely deck for an outdoor barbecue with friends and family you might be visiting in Eugene. Mike and Linda were terrific - always available when needed, and completely respectful of your privacy.

  • The stay at Log Cabin in the Woods was perfect. We were on a road trip up the coast and had stayed in a string of less than cozy hotels, so arriving to the cabin was such a needed respite from the rest of the trip. There were so many wonderful details in the cabin and the kitchen was stocked with everything we need to cook dinner. We wish we could have stayed more than a night, but that night was wonderful. Thanks Mike and Linda!

  • Dear Mike and Linda,
Chuck and I truly enjoyed the cabin. It's tiny, but it is so cozy and unique. Plus we liked the privacy and setting. It is so beautiful out there; yet only a 12 minute drive to town. We wish we had time to hike around. We also appreciate that the cabin was so well stocked with everything anyone could possibly need. Linda, I sure do appreciate the advice about moles. I tried it at my house and it worked!! Thank you for your kind hospitality.

    Response from Mike And Linda:

Oh good! We feel fortunate to have had such a sweet couple as you and Chuck to stay the cabin! Elsie was almost invisible! You would never have known she had been there. It's people like you that make hosting on airbnb such a pleasure. Thank you!

  • We had a magical time at the log cabin in the woods. It is a tiny, sweet, well-appointed lodging. I was there with my three daughters and their roommate, and though small quarters, I will never forget my time there. Great energy, lovely surroundings, Linda was lovely and the dogs were so friendly. We watched one of the available movies, took a brisk walk in the morning, had coffee and scones on the porch, and just loved being there. We plan on returning soon!!

  • We arrived on the private property log cabin late at night. It was extremely rustic yet homey. Perfect for a desolate getaway for 2 I'm the woods. May be a little tight if you have 4. Great area in the nature and a close drive to several wineries.

Thank you, Andria. We appreciate the feedback and hope you are able to stay with us again sometime. :)

  • It was a rush decision for swinging by that area for our retirement plan’s investment. Glad to find the cabin. The cabin was exactly as advertised - cute, homey, restful, and convenience to everywhere. The supplies in the cabin were more than our expected. I asked my husband to leave tips for taking few bottles of juice and water from the refrigerator. But he forgot it. Sorry Linda! Although Linda wasn’t there while we were staying, she replied our questions very quickly by email. And thanks for Mike’s attractive information. We had a great time and look forward to staying again in the summer.

Oh my gosh! You are so sweet Sharon! We really are sorry we weren't there to welcome you but we are glad you liked the cabin!!! It would have been nice to meet you both! That makes it all worth it! We will look for you next summer and do hope you'll be able to retire here someday. I'm originally from California myself and I am so glad I live in Oregon now. There's just nothing like living in the country with its fresh air, fewer concerns, and that ability to just plain enjoy the outdoors like when we were kids! :)

  • What a wonderful little place! We were looking for a 'cabin in the woods' and this did not disappoint. Charming and tidy, the house had everything we needed, including some basic food and snacks, a nice selection of DVDs and books, great cooking equipment, and a very comfortable bed. Not to mention beautiful surroundings. Just so cozy.

Candace thank you for the nice review! We really appreciate it! We did add a few knives, a knife sharpener, WIFI booster to bring in a stronger signal, plug for the tub, blender, food processor, and more breakfast food! We really appreciated hearing how you had such nice suggestions for a few missing items, so thanks! We hope you will come and stay with us again!!

  • This was the second time I'd stayed in the cabin and it was just as nice as the first! It's a comfy place, well stocked with all the amenities a traveler might appreciate, and Mike and Linda are excellent gracious hosts. I will definitely try to stay here again next time I'm in the area.

  • Mike and Linda are super responsive and friendly hosts! We stopped into the cabin to break up the drive from the Bay Area to Seattle--the cabin was just what we needed! It was the perfect place to make dinner, stretch our legs and let our dog run around. The surroundings are beautiful and woodsy and it's at the end of a long road so the dog could run around freely. The cabin is exactly as advertised--cozy, cute and comfy. We are looking forward to our next stay!

    Response from Mike And Linda:

Thank you so much for the good review, Lilli. We are so sorry about the well valve that failed when we had that sub-zero weather the week prior to your coming! We have compensated you with a little gift (in the envelope on the counter) for the no-water you faced the morning you left for Seattle! Thank you for being so understanding!!! We look forward to meeting you this afternoon on your trip back home to the Bay Area. Drive safely and enjoy - the cabin is ready for you! :) Linda and Mike

We enjoy family gatherings at home, our two great dogs, fishing, camping, oil painting, gardening, working in our little fruit tree orchard, and planning great family get-togethers. Our motto is: Cream Always Rises to the Top; and The More the Merrier! We love to barbecue and entertain friends and family in our home, often. We are fortunate to offer our little log cabin and our log home on airbnb. We are situated in the beautiful Willamette Valley, right in the heart of great wine tasting country! 5 wineries are within 15-20 minutes of our property and Eugene is only a 15 minute drive away. For Duck football fans, this is a great place to stay. Only 20 minutes to Autzen Stadium! The beautiful Oregon coast is just 1 hour away. The Portland Airport, Cascade Mountains, Mt. Bachelor, The Three Sisters mountain range, and the little Western town of Sisters are about 2-3 hours drive. Major airlines service the Eugene airport 20 minutes away from us. We enjoy living in the Willamette Valley and continue to discover new places to visit. We love going to the Hult Center for the Performing Arts (on the Broadway Circuit!) as well as the Very Little Theater, a venue for local performing artists. We are fond of the Oregon Electric Station for dinner as well as King Estates Winery for exquisite dining; both only 20 minutes away. And we always suggest the 5th Street Public Market for an exceptional down town experience: local brew pubs, wine tasting, jazz, ...Eugene has it all. This is what we like about living here! :)
