Description

The space

Beautiful, new-construction (read forced air central-heating and a/c, superb water pressure, "unlimited" hot water supply), luxury hotel-like room (see confirmation in reviews) with private en-suite adjoining bathroom. Access to home's "grounds" with stream, hammock, pond, deck with lounge chairs...

Guest review selected quotes: "...far exceeds any hotel accommodations in the area.", "room with its connected private bath was comfortable and well appointed", "the room is like a Manhattan suite, we felt like in a luxury hotel...", "highly recommend this for anyone who likes the feel of a luxury hotel but would rather spend less for the same thing (or better)", "the room is super clean, cozy and with a really chic bathroom", "the Henkins' luxury suite provides chic comfortable accommodation that actually rivals a number of boutique hotels we have stayed at in Europe and the US recently"...

These references say it better than I could ever convey. Read through more reviews to get an idea of the service side of one's stay here. Our aim is to please.

You are close to the action with quaint South Norwalk's historical seaport area - which includes an aquarium and iMax theater. You also are just five minutes away from the boutique shopping of Westport.

Train from Westport (nearest sta) is one hour from New York City's Grand Central Terminal.

Features: WiFi Internet Access. Sun deck. Market, bank, pizza, nail salon, liquor store and restaurant in walking (3-4 blocks) distance.

Shared access to all living quarters and professional-grade kitchen (Sub-zero, Wolf Stove, gas Weber Grill on deck).

Custom requests welcome...need something special in your room, access to computer, computer VoIP or chat, printer, international calls, a ride to train station, NYC or airport? Let us know. We can often accomodate atypical requests - some at no charge. If you expect it in a luxury boutique hotel, we will try to have it for you.

Guest access

You have access to your private room with en-suite bath as well as all the shared space of the home - of which there is a lot. Separate dining room, kitchen, living room, deck and grounds.

Interaction with guests

You are welcome to mingle with us or spend all your time in private. Someone is typically around during weekdays. Again, I'll include some review excerpts here to give you a sense of the interactions with us in the home: "Julian and his family were fantastic!!", "Julian was a great host!", "Julian and Mariola were fantastic hosts, very friendly and did everything they could to make me feel at home...", "So glad I decided to go this route rather than stay in a hotel...", "it was such a pleasure meeting this great family. We would highly recommend this place to anyone. Overall fantastic choice for our first experience with airbnb. It truly surpassed our highest expectations!"

Enough said, let us surpass your highest expectations. We will not be content with anything less!

The neighborhood

The neighborhood is rather typical suburban with immediate access to the two major transportation arteries in the area. We are also 5 - 10 minutes from everything, such as train station, Westport shopping, historical SoNo (S. Norwalk), parks, playgrounds, beaches - we have it all.

Getting around

There is a nearby (2 blocks) bus stop. And, all that you need is in walking distance. We can pick up and drop off from the local (Westport) train station.

Other things to note

Our personality and reason for doing this is to be able to share with others. Please look at our reviews and guidebook. You cannot find a better place or better value lodging in this area.

The host and his family were lovely, and very welcoming. The house is very comfortable and my area was great! Really would recommend this to anyone staying in the Norwalk area.

My stay at Julian's house was under some unusual circumstances. I had to take an important exam at a test center not far from his house the next day, which is why I decided to spend the night. He completely understood my situation (mainly that I would be quietly studying) and was a fantastic host. Communication was spot on. His house is beautiful, the bedroom was comfortable, the private bathroom was clean, and I had full use of the kitchen. He even helped me figure out a good route for a morning jog in the neighborhood. I also got to briefly meet his 2 daughters, and they are super adorable and sweet. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Julian is an extremely gracious host. He arranged to pick us up at the station and also gave us a lot of good recommendations, which we thoroughly enjoyed. We felt very much at home. Julian's home itself is in a very nice location. If you would like to step back away from hustle and bustle of city and enjoy a stay in the lap of nature, you know where to go!
