  • We spent 3 nights in Kathleen's peaceful, quiet studio surrounded by her lush yard and garden. The town of Fairfax felt very safe, and we were charmed by its walkability and laid back energy. It was easy to get to everywhere we wanted to go, including the national seashore. The winding drive through the redwoods to get to the ocean was magnificent! Kathleen was helpful, giving us suggestions and directions to enhance our visit. She was both warm and respectful of our privacy. The bed was amazingly comfortable. We slept very well. The main shared bathroom was exceptionally clean, with excellent water pressure in the shower. I highly recommend Kathleen's studio, especially for an individual or couple wanting a serene getaway.

  • Kathleen is a lovely, generous and accommodating host.
The property is peaceful, quiet, and sweet. I felt very comfortable and welcome.
Kathleen's experience as a feng shui practitioner and teacher are evident, as all of the spaces are beautiful and the energy feels very harmonious, calm, and balanced.

I stayed in the separate studio which was peaceful and private.
If you need a firm, supportive sleeping surface, you might inquire if the guest bedroom within the home is available.

I feel grateful for my stay here and would return.

  • I enjoyed my stay with Kathleen very much! Kathleen made me feel very much at home, the garden was really beautiful with squirrels playing in the trees and I could even borrow a bike from my host, so that I could explore Fairfax and the surroundings.

  • I cannot say enough good things about Kathleen and the garden studio! My partner and I live in Oakland and decided to spend the weekend in Fairfax to get some exercise and quiet time. We got EXACTLY that. Naps filled with bird songs and long bike rides through the redwoods. It is so calm, welcoming, and lovely at Kathleen's. The room was comfortable and immaculate. The garden is a wonderful place to have coffee in the sun, not to mention the gourmet steel cut oats that were graciously offered to us every morning. Delicious! The house is just a short walk to anywhere you want to go in town. Kathleen is kind, heart-felt, and a bright light to those around her. I am grateful to have spent time chatting with her. I would definitely stay here again!
Ps- Thank you so much for my scoby! She is very happy!

  • I have stayed w/ kathleen 3 times. I like her space and hosting so much i've come to refer to her airbnb as "my sanctuary". The hospitality and the care she puts into comfort of guests in her home is kind and extraprdinary.

  • We much enjoyed our stay in the Garden studio with Kathleen as our kind and gracious host. The fruit trees were in bloom, and with the bamboo plants and redwoods right outside the window made the backyard into such a restful oasis. Since we live 40 minutes away in San Francisco, we'll soon return to visit Kathleen and studio!

  • We (a couple in 30s/40s) loved our stay here during a beautiful Thanksgiving weekend. To us, this exemplified the AirBnB experience--not just a place to crash, but a warm home to join for a short while. The cottage is lovely and serene (pictures don't do justice to it--it FEELS peaceful), set well back from the street and surrounded by greenery. It's private, just a few seconds walk to the charming house. (Walking to the bathroom at night is no big deal, by the way--it's like walking down a short hallway at home, but prettier. Those with physical disabilities should note that the kitchen bathroom is smaller than a full bath, and there are a couple of steps up to the house; in other ways, however, I think this might be an especially accessible place to stay.) Breakfast was healthy and delicious, and Kathleen was a wonderful host at all times of day--friendly, open, helpful, and very respectful. The location is great--nestled into a pretty, quiet Fairfax neighborhood, 10 to 15 minutes to town (so charming and friendly, with great food, movies, and stores) on foot, with easy drives to Bolinas (great beginning surfing and art studios), Mt. Tam (wonderful biking and hiking) and Point Reyes (awesome seaside hikes, neat towns, great food). Kathleen graciously lent us beach towels and a blanket for our surf day, and let us wash off and hang dry our wetsuits. We didn't have bikes, but it'd be easy to keep them right there. We can't wait to return for a longer stay this spring.
