A genuinely unique spot in the middle of Austin's Lower East Side, ready for your ACL slash Austin experience needs. Blocks from Dirty 6th, East 6th, Rainey, and the hike & bike trails to ACL. Super cute. Queen bed, comfy couches.
One room in a two room house. The other room is an art studio where my girlfriend & I make silicone mermaid tails & other fun stuff (look up Sirenalia!). We occasionally have other crew working with us.
The living room is a shared space both for the other people renting a room and for me (I run a lollipop company and use the couch & wifi as a "get out of the house" office space). My small, painfully cute English Bulldog might be hanging out with me, if you're lucky. She already loves you, I can just tell.
The front porch is astroturfed- please don't smoke on it as it could catch fire forever. Also don't smoke in the house. Also maybe you shouldn't smoke? You seem so nice & I'd like you to live forever.
Probably the only rental place in Austin with a tattoo vending machine ($.75 each, painless & guaranteed no buyer's remorse).
Wifi & a kitchen & a shared bathroom & tons of AC & easy access to basically everything they might want to do in Austin. Crazy reasonably-priced acupuncture. There's an outside shower if you'd like to get au naturale in an alfresco setting.
Interaction with Guests
I'm down for a hangout, both my girlfriend & I are Austin natives and are happy to point you towards the funnest & best stuff. One or both of us might be sucking down the wifi and some coffee in the living room.
Please sign our guest book when you leave!
No parties, no extra guests, no animals, and please please please don't touch either Ginger & our mermaid tails alone!
Please do not smoke cigarettes in the house or on the porch. If you do smoke, please throw your butts away rather than leave them in the yard or on the street.
And of course, be respectful & courteous of the neighbors- they have young kids & go to bed early :)
The place was just as described, with a comfortable room and easy parking and walking access to downtown Austin. I arrived earlier than anticipated and met Jason hard at work on some art. It was a cold night but plenty of warmth with the heaters provided.
Great place, very homey! Short walk to the riverfront, Rainey st and pretty much an endless number of great places. We were really happy to find this gem!
Austin's motto is "Keep Austin Weird". Well, this is the kind of stuff Austin wants to keep! Weird in the best possible way. An artists' working studio, Jason and Maria were welcoming hosts. Plenty of interesting decor to (email hidden) got a kitchen. Some minor plumbing issues, but they were attending to the repairs. In a working-class and slowly gentrifying neighborhood close to downtown. 10 min walk to a bike station and the river bike path, it was easy to get around. And the price is certainly affordable. I'd come back.
Check in and out was simple. I did not meet Jason but we communicated via air bob messaging. He responded promptly to all of my questions and was very nice/welcoming. The location was GREAT! We were able to walk everywhere.
Awesome location, easy walk or bus to downtown and close to lots of bars, restaurants and cafés.
Great heater which Jason kindly left on for our arrival.
Cleanliness; a pair of men's underwear fell out the end of the bed after the first night (definately didn't belong to us), I'm guessing the bedding isn't changed between guests. The whole bathroom and bedroom could really do with a tidy up.
The bed is a single, but I'm sure the room is meant to accommodate two people.
The toilet doesn't flush, you'll need to manually fill up buckets and poor into the cistern to flush it as there is a big leak somewhere and it won't fill. (Our apologies again for breaking the lid when we were trying to fix it)
There is a full size modern kitchen but nothing in the cupboards to use for cooking.
We didn't actually end up meeting each other, but this was a comfortable place to stay in what i think is the best neighborhood in austin.
The neighborhood and way to the centre was exactly how it was described. We had actually the place for ourselves in the evening and night. Unfortunately it was not very clean. We were very surprised when we arrived to find a bed 100 cm in width although it says it would be for 2 persons.

I own an internationally loved lollipop company (Lollyphile), and my girlfriend and I make beautiful silicone mermaid tails (Sirenalia). I love travel & animals & dancing & starting new businesses. I'm from Austin, Texas, but I lived most of my life in San Francisco. Feel free to stalk me on (website hidden)!
