This studio is a clean, quiet, private floor in our house. It has its own Private Bathroom and two points of entry. The adjacent room contains the washer and dryer which are available for your use. In the interest of full disclosure: this is a basement apartment and the ceiling is a little low, so depending on your point of view it could be cramped or just plain cozy. It does have windows.
Our kitchen and common areas are spacious and you are invited to cook your own meals, or share in one of our common meals, which happen spontaneously from time to time.
Our neighborhood has all that a New York neighborhood could offer, but with a long, deep breath of Hudson River air wafting up the cliff sides of the Jersey Palisades - relax and take in a panoramic view of the city from the end our block. A large public park is two blocks away, complete with tennis courts and walking paths around a beautiful lake.
The public transit consists of several bus lines which run from the top of the street directly to 42nd Street and Eighth Avenue in Manhattan. There is also ferry service. If you have a car, there is free public parking just three blocks away.
We host guests from around the world on a regular basis: some of us speak German and Spanish. So we invite you to spend some time here and give us the privilege of hosting you!
Nice hosts and house! Josh kindly welcomed us even though it was very late at night for our Oct 18 – 19, 2013 stay. The kitchen area was beautiful and perfect for my quiet late night cooking! The basement studio was very spacious with a twin bed, futon bed, and mini portable heater. The ceilings are low in certain places, along with the shower head in the bathroom. My partner is 5’10” and he hit his head several times (we laugh about it now since it was part of our adventure). I’m 5’3” and was fine for the most part. I slept on the twin bed and he slept on the firmer futon. We loved our privacy! There was parking within 1-4 blocks, metered or timed, usually free at night though. With Josh’s help via phone, we found a spot about 4 blocks away in a 3hr parking zone so didn’t have to move our car until 12 noon (score!). The next night, we went into NYC to be closer to our destinations but Josh & Alexis warmly had an open door for us if we wanted to come back late that night. Thank you for your flexibility and having us over!
Lovely house in a stunning location a short bus ride into Port Authority. The other guys in the house are all really friendly also! Alexis and Josh and delightful hosts who I enjoyed seeing very briefly on my arrival. The room is very large and in the basement of the house. The shower is excellent!! Would have no hesitation in recommending the place at all.
