Interaction with Guests
I am here to welcome you and answer any questions you have about my place or my neighborhood. I enjoy interacting with guests, although my schedule has gotten much more busy since returning to school.
Columbia University has a big presence in my neighborhood and there are always lots of students out and about.
There are a ton of great restaurants up and down Broadway and Amsterdam. A walk to either Riverside or Central Park is just a few minutes.
Columbia's main campus is four blocks up; Cathedral of St. John the Divine is two blocks up.
The Subway (1 train, with express train two stops down) is one block over on Broadway. Your total travel time to Times Square, for instance, would probably be less than 25 minutes.
Other Things to Note
A laundromat is right downstairs where you can launder your clothes yourself or drop them off to keep adventuring.
There is a pub with good food right downstairs as well.
Ask as many questions as you like - I usually respond right away.
Please respect my three simple rules:
Please do not bring animals
Please do not have visitors
Please do not smoke in the apartment
Thank you for being a responsible guest.
I had a great stay at Spencer's place. Once I got into the city I was able to easily get to his place via the 1 line. The apartment is ideally situated near restaurants, cafes, and public transit (both rail and bus). I was able to get to and from my destinations fairly quickly. The apartment was perfect for my needs. Although I only got to spend a short time with Spencer (he was out of town the weekend I stayed there) he was kind and considerate. He was also easily reachable by phone and checked in to make sure that my stay was going well; he also helped welcome me to the apartment and walked me out. If you plan a trip to Manhattan I would highly recommend Spencer as a host.
Spencer was an awesome host! Super friendly, very warm and welcoming, and just the right amount of communicative. He checked in a couple times throughout the week to make sure my stay was comfortable while still giving me plenty of private space. Would totally stay with him again. My one caveat to potential travelers is that his place is very spartan, but it is clean and safe with great wifi and you can't beat the price for the location!
Spencer was fantastic! Super welcoming, very very very clean. Very available and everything you'd expect from a great host who is there for you when you need them! Spencer met me at a time when my plane was delayed and I was going through rush hour traffic and Spencer was SUPER accommodating to every need that I needed. WOULD ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND ANYONE TO STAY HERE!
It was a good choice to stay at Spencer's place. He is so respectfull, nice and helpfull. The room is big and confortable. The area is the best, specially if you need to stay best Columbia University. There is a train station just a block away, on the 110 with Broadway. The area is safe and there are many nice places to eat and go around. I totally recomended Spencer's place.
The flat is in a very safe neighborhood. I feel very safe coming back or going out in late night. Spencer is a warm hearted host, keeping the flat very clean.
I had a great stay at Spencer's place. I was visiting Columbia University to participate in a workshop. The room is very close to the university and to the subway and lots of food and shops. I unfortunately did not have a lot of time to interact with Spencer as much as I would have liked too. He was a very nice and kind person and helped me with my bags and went out of his way to make sure I would be comfortable. I like that the room is really near the front door. This way I didn't have to worry about waking Spencer up if I left really early or came in late at night. The room was simple and comfortable and warm despite cold weather. I would definitely stay there again.

About the Host, Spencer
Being a host on airbnb is great. I have had the chance to meet people from around the world and share at least one interesting conversation with many of them. I enjoy welcoming people to this amazing city and do my best to help my guests feel comfortable.
A little about me: I'm a grad student at Teachers College and enjoy basketball, public speaking, nights out with friends, and reading. I would like to get back to traveling sometime but I tend to go on extended adventures and right now I'm more or less dedicated to New York.
