Experience the serenity of the Bungalow at Willowtail Springs - a private romantic cabin overlooking a private late with views of the La Plata Mountains. View lush gardens and listen to a vast array of birds from the log cabin interior. Make use of the binoculars and study the bird identification book in the cabin library. Enjoy your morning coffee on a sunny deck or a garden table. Catch an early canoe ride or a five-pound bass. This cabin is ideal for 1-2 people but can accommodate up to 4.

The space
The Bungalow at Willowtail is a magical, enchanted, charming space - light filled and cozy. The space is filled with artwork, antiques, and unique architectural details. Gorgeous stained glass greets you at the entry to the bath and bedroom. A long-abandoned beehive (fully encased in plexiglass) hangs over the bed. The pillowtop queen bed will invite you to sleep in, while the claw foot tub and hand held shower with spa products ensure a luxurious and relaxing bath. Bathrobes are provided for your use in the bungalow or to wear to the hot tub overlooking the lake.

The open living area features huge windows that look out over the private lake. An extensive library of books and movies, along with a TV and comfortable seating invite you to relax. Choose from a cozy private deck facing the lake with private outdoor dining or an inviting covered deck facing gardens in front. There is also a daybed which makes into a king or two twins.

Eat breakfast on private decks with lake view or at the spectacular dining table overlooking the lake. Snuggle in front of the gas fireplace in winter with hot chocolate. Cook dinner and eat in the privacy of your own cabin inside or out. Use the gas oven inside or the grill next to your cabin. Sit under ancient juniper and pinion pine looking out to extensive, lush gardens and the lake. You will soon be transported to another level of rejuvenation in this special retreat.

Enjoy the canoes and fishing gear if you like to fish. The lake is full of large-mouth bass, rainbow trout, brown trout and blue-gills to catch and release. There is no license required since it is a private lake. If fishing isn't your thing, canoe out on the lake and dream as you look down and dangle your fingers in the water.

End your day with a glass of wine in the hot tub that overlooks the lake. The hot tub is located away from any of the cabins and offers a clear view of the night sky. We can reserve a private time for you.

Where you’ll be

Mancos, Colorado, United States

There’s no place like home, and you’ll feel like you’ve finally arrived when you step onto the stunning 60-acre ecological retreat of Willowtail Springs. Willowtail’s private lake serves as a fishing paradise for all skill levels, healthily stocked with trout, sunfish and large-mouth bass. With the help of a couple of canoes, a rowboat, poles and casting rods, bait and barbless hooks, guests are more than welcome to catch-and-release to their heart’s content. As a private lake, there’s no need to procure a fishing license!

This wetland oasis blossoms with an abundance of nature, and, much to the thrill of birders, is a sanctuary for owls, golden eagles, osprey, meadowlarks, Great Blue Herons, hummingbirds, chickadees, woodpeckers, warblers and more. Sometimes, guests get an up-close-and-personal encounter as the Colorado Division of Wildlife releases raptors back into the wild – a truly majestic experience.
