4bd/2ba Central Austin Retreat

House - Entire home/apt · Esther Drive, Austin, TX 78752, United States

The Space

Located in Central Austin, and a SHORT walk to the Metro Rail which drops you off in the center of downtown, our home is an updated 4 bedroom/2 bath home.

The patio area provides a great place to enjoy the Austin evening breezes and enjoy a nice chat. A wooden swing set provides opportunity for play at the back of the yard, bordered by our vegetable garden during growing season. Enjoy relaxing on a hammock in the cool shade of the front yard or enjoy sitting in 50's style bright yellow metal lawn chairs on the front porch.

Bedroom #1 Separated from the other three bedrooms, the large master bedroom is off the living room and includes a comfy King bed plus huge windows that overlook the covered garden patio.

Bedroom #2 has a queen bed. There is an office desk and ceiling fan and quiet and dark for a great night of sleep.

Bedroom #3 has a Full bed and the soft yellow walls are soothing for the soul!

Bedroom #4 has a twin bed with trundle that can be pulled out and raised to normal bed height. This is the second largest room in the house with desk and huge window.

We have two air mattresses available that brings the sleeping capacity to a total of 10.

The second bath has a garden whirlpool tub, great for a long soak at the end of a busy day!

A large laundry room is also available for your use.

There is adequate parking in our double drive way as well as on the street.

Our home provides a respite from the noisy fun of local concerts and nightlife but is close enough to the lively downtown area that you'll experience the best of both worlds!

The City of Austin requires that we charge a 15% hotel occupancy tax to any guests staying less than 30 days. This can be mailed to us two weeks before check in.

We would love to meet you if possible and introduce you to the house and then leave you to enjoy a fabulous stay!

  • Jenny's house was very comfortable and a great base of operations for our crew. She was extremely kind and helpful with recommending nearby restaurants and activities. I would definitely rent this place again when visiting Austin.

  • My team and I stayed here again (for the third year in a row) for SXSW and once again, Chris and Jenny made us feel super welcome. The house is great and the outdoor space has been upgraded which makes it even nicer to chill out and relax in. It really has everything you could ask for in a family home.

The metro rail is just a short walk away and can whisk you downtown in 20 minutes for less than 3 bucks. I can highly recommend this place as a great spot to stay in Austin.

  • Jenny was great! It was my first time renting from AirBnB and I'm so glad that we picked Jenny's home for the weekend. She was quick with responses and very friendly when we met. Her home is beautiful; very nice and clean. I especially loved the outside patio area. I would recommend her place for anyone wanting to stay in Austin. Thanks Jenny!

  • Jenny was great and very accommodating. The house is super cute and had eveything we needed for a girls weekend!

  • This house was the perfect spot for our bachelorette weekend. Many of us are in the architecture field and could not get over how beautifully decorated and comfortable the rooms are. Jenny has the house set up like a hotel with many hospitable details thought of (from notes about hot spots in the area to a hairdryer for each room). There were 7 of us but we could have easily fit 8 people. The neighborhood is a series of small old houses, and Jenny's house is the cutest on the street. The only exception may be the house with the huge mustache on the garage which is the kind of character that makes Austin great!

If you are looking for a home away from home, you will not be dissappointed with this choice.

  • This was a great house, exactly as pictured. We did a management retreat there and 3 of us stayed in the house and two already live in Austin, so five of us spent three days in the living room! They have apple TV which made it super easy to project from our laptops, and we could even watch our movies easily. The house was clean, the outdoor space was lovely, and the master bed was the best nights of sleep I've had in years. I even asked the Jenny what the make and model was of the mattress! It was so relaxing. It was convenient to everywhere and super easy to get to (and fast) from the airport. I'm always freaked out by Air BnB's that feel like someone is just stepped out for a moment and you're really invading their space, with all their toiletries and such left out, but this didn't feel that way at all, it felt well kept like a proper guest cottage that only had rentals. In fact I chose the house because the photos didn't have "personal items" showing in the photos (note some of the homes have toothbrushes out! ick!) It really looked exactly like the photos. The house guide was super helpful, too.

  • The Margrave house was the perfect site to host the first time meeting of our parents over the Thanksgiving weekend. We found the space to be more than sufficient to facilitate hanging out as well as cooking a big meal for Thanksgiving dinner. The house is spacious yet there are plenty of spaces for guests to be together. We especially enjoyed the island in the kitchen which has ample counter space for chopping food, setting out snacks, etc, but is also a nice spot to sit and have coffee or drinks. The living room and back patio are also very nice, the patio having a huge table for meals or hanging out.

Other features to note are several bookcases full of interesting books, a nice backyard for kids to play, and very nice light in the house.

I would recommend this house to anyone coming from out of town or anyone living in town who needs to rent a bigger house to accommodate guests from out of town. It truly was a retreat from our tiny 1 bedroom Austin apartment!

  • Perfect spot for Austin. Downtown short cab ride or a two minute walk to train and public transportation. Quiet neighborhood. House had nice clean bedrooms and bathrooms. Kitchen was good size with easy to use washer and dryer just outside of kitchen. Many restaurants and nightlife nearby. Even had enclosed back yard with swing set for children. Big fireplace in family room and good TV with cable and Netflix. A large eclectic collection of books lined the fireplace. Would rate a three out of four stars.

  • We stayed over the weekend here and it was perfect! Jenny was very nice and helped us a lot! A cab ride to downtown was about 10 min. So it was a great location. The house was very clean and well priced for the weekend! We will be coming back, thanks Jenny!

  • Great scene. Great place
This lovely place is a bit out of downtown, but there is a commuter rail (one of the few public transit resources in Austin) right there. Very fast, even without a car.

We did have a car, and it was easy to get around.
And I worked over breakfast at the outdoor table every morning. Very pleasant.

The whole thing worked really well for me and my team of young employees.

About
I love woodworking, swimming, reading, and playing. Chris teaches writing at Texas State University. We live in Austin, Texas and love it here. We used to do a lot of traveling but have not had the opportunity in quite a while. We love having people stay at our home and getting to know new people from around the world. When we travel we like to find the local scene as much as the tourist attractions.
