15-minute ride from the center of Hanoi and the River Song Duong 5-minute walk, we propose to you a completely different house, the house of Mr. Le Hong Thai, a renowned Vietnamese painter.
Số 445, Ngoc Thuy Long Bien – Ha Noi

Other Things to Note
For the food, my mother is a good cooker of rural vietnamese food with fresh vegetable from her own garden. You can order a meal if you would like, the price is 10$ for one person.
For walking around, It is our pleasure to organise all these, let me know when ever you come to our house.
The home of Mr. Le Hong Thai is absolutely beautiful. It is set back from the main road, which lends itself to a serene setting. The house has tasteful artistic touches throughout, including the bedroom. The garden in front is lush and extremely peaceful. I would recommend that anyone staying here set aside at least half a day to a full day to enjoy the peace and beauty of the house.
Mr. Thai also went out of his way to arrange transportation for us, and make a delicious breakfast for us in the early hours of the morning.
The downside of the house was the distance from the main part of town - Hoan Kiem Lake. Although not far in absolute distance, it was difficult to get a taxi at the house without arranging for Mr. Thai to call one, and taking a taxi back to the house at night was even more difficult as the road to the house is poorly lit, with few road signs, and requires some communication with the driver, which can be difficult if you do not know Vietnamese.
Additionally, it was somewhat difficult to get in contact with the owner/manager of the airbnb, which created some anxious moments when we first arrived at the homestay and when we tried to get back and forth from the home.
Other notes: note that the owner has very cute cats, but may not have been noted in the listing (important for those with allergies). Note also that the house is not apparent at first from the gate (it looks like the house is shuttered and vacant), but rest assured it exists!
Our one-night stay at The Character Le Hong Thai house was wonderful. Upon our arrival, Mr. Thai (owner of the house) was super welcoming and gave us plenty of suggestions for what to do for the rest of the day. He even recommended a local cafe in Hanoi where we could have lunch before our planned visit to Hoàn Kiếm Lake. Our early start the next morning was made smooth by Mr. Thai who called a taxi for us and told him which route to take to our destination so that we could avoid the early morning traffic. He even prepared breakfast and coffee! :)
At the house, Mr. Thai was more than happy to answer all of our questions about Hanoi, Vietnam, and himself. His cats, Ho & Mik-Meow were adorable and loved the attention we gave them.
The house itself is truly beautiful, and most of the paintings on the wall are done by Mr. Thai himself!
Ms. Kieu was also very helpful and assisted in whatever way she could when we contacted her.
The house may be a slight journey from the main part of the city, but it is definitely worth the extra travel time to stay in such a serene and beautiful place. Thank you very much to Mr. Thai and Ms. Kieu!
Had a lovely stay, as it is a short cab ride away from the centre we felt like we were in a small village, a walk through the rice fields, vegetable gardens and the working fields which overlook the city and the river we kept commenting that we couldn't believe the centre of town was so close by. Breakfast was simple but lovely. The house has a quirky vibe but I like that.
we had such a wonderful stay here. the home itself was really interesting and unique, and the bed super comfortable. Thai helped us arrange a Ha Long Bay tour with almost no notice, as well as recommending several places to see and dine at. Thai also took us down to the local market on his motorcycle too for traditional vietnamese breakfast of pho one morning!! the home is outside of the hustle and bustle so it's really peaceful and just a very quick trip by cab into town. we cant wait to come back :)
Thai's house is a very unique place. We stayed there with him for four nights. Thai himself was a very discrete person, so one would not even notice his presence. On the down side, don't expect to sleep long as this is a traditional wooden house surrounded by workshops starting very early in the morning. We stayed there in winter time, so I missed the heating greatly; even more I appreciated the fireplace. While I am happy we tried this one out, I would not do it again. Frankly,100EUR a night is exaggerated, especially, since for whatever reason we did not get any breakfast (ehm, except for a very nice tea and two pieces of dragon fruit we had to specifically ask for the day before...)
Thank you to staying at Thai's house. We are sorry that you donot feel happy to stay in Thai's house. The breakfast, Thai said that you waked up late and he was afraid of food would be cold and not good. I told Thai right way the day you left. He did sorry for that,
The price is 100 USD not EURO a night and for the lunch, you forgot to pay us.
(I remembered you had told me that you put on the table, but we could not find it). Anyway. We thanked for staying with us and hope you was in time for Halong bay tour.
I had a fantastic stay at Thai's. The house has a rustic charm with wooden floors, huge windows, stone pathways and a neat Bonsai garden. It's adorned with beautiful paintings, and other interesting artistic elements. The room has a bathtub in one side, and to my surprise does function.
Thai is a wonderful host and was great to hang out with. He cooked up delicious breakfasts, and I enjoyed having dinner with him at a local joint nearby.
The house is a bit far from the main town area (around 5kms). So the lovely lady who manages the bookings for the place helped me get a motorcycle at a good price, so I could ride around Hanoi.
Staying at Thai's was one of the highlights of my Hanoi trip, and I would highly recommend staying here!
