Interaction with Guests
I am a very social person, for the most part, I love meeting people and learning about what interests them, where they have traveled or anything else they are willing to share about themselves. Serafin is a warm and hospitable person who enjoys getting to know visitors from around the world.
We are 420 friendly (and legal)!....That means, Marijuana is used as a medicine here, legally.
We have three small, short-haired cats named Kiwi, Calliann and Mr. Gato who share our living space.
Our home is simple, comfortable, clean and peaceful. We welcome guests who want a comfortable and peaceful place to stay while they explore this magical island.
If this Cozy Queen Room is unavailable, please checkout our Cozy King Room for availability.
No smoking indoors, however we have a wrap-around deck where you are most welcome to smoke.
Our home is located on the edge of the Wailua River State Park and the Wailua Complex of Heiaus. In Wailua, you’ll find a variety of sightseeing opportunities and outdoor activities. Kayak the Wailua River in Wailua River State Park, take a boat ride to the Fern Grotto, or take photos at Opaekaa Falls. Don’t forget to try and spot the Sleeping Giant in the Nounou Mountains or take a hike up this scenic ridge. Sacred places like Polihau Heiau, the large lava-rock temple of Kauai’s last king, Kaumualii, can also be found on the East Side. And be sure to visit Kapaa Town to discover fine Hawaiian craft pieces, aloha-print shirts, jewelry and art.
But the golden beaches of the Coconut Coast may be the area’s biggest draw. Unwind at Anahola Beach Park, whale watch at Donkey Beach or watch the surfers at Kealia Beach to the north. Lydgate Beach Park in Wailua has two lava rock enclosed ocean pools that are perfect places for families and first-time snorkelers. Fun in the sun awaits you on the Coconut Coast.
There is a bus system here on Kauai, however it's recommended that you rent a car.

Michelle and Serafin are too very energetic, welcoming and kind people. A really nice couple. My girlfriend and I wish we had been able to stay more nights with them. Their cats are really special too. ;-)
Michelle and Serafin welcomed us warmly, showed us around the house & introduced us to the cats. The kitchen is large and well-equipped, and the house airy & comfortable. We were welcome to use the living room, and the washer & dryer were a lifesaver. Parking was no problem and we were treated to a farewell dinner the night before departure.
We would definitely stay here again.
Michelle and her husband were very welcoming when we arrived at their home. They had lots of suggestions about places to visit and good restaurants. Our large bedroom was comfortable, clean, and quiet. Each morning, we prepared our breakfast in the modern kitchen and sipped on the coffee they had ready for us to drink. We really enjoyed the pleasant conversations and the funny stories they told.
Thank you, both, for making this part of our vacation relaxing and fun!

If you are looking for a home away from home, look no further than Michelle and Serafin's little oasis in the Wailua Homesteads. Upon my arrival, I was greeted with warm smiles and a helpful tour of the home. The kitchen is big, clean, and I loved waking up to the smell of freshly brewed coffee every day!
If you want to stay here (or anywhere on Kauai for that matter) a rental car is needed. But the great thing is that this is a very centrally located house, so you can get to virtually anywhere on the island in maximum 1.25 hours. The north of the island is more accessible from this location, but the South and the West are quite easy to get to as well. This is not a beachfront house, as you can see by the map, but this did not bother me one bit, since a short drive got me to the beach, and the beauty of Kauai is that there are so many beaches, you will want to see them all.
The bed was extremely comfortable. The deck outside was lovely, catching the morning sun. I recommend waking up to watch the sunrise at the look out point three minutes drive from the house.
The price per night for the room is very fair for all the things you get. Being able to wash my clothing mid way through my week stay was the icing on top of a perfect holiday.
And if you are thinking of Kauai, or going to another island in Hawaii, I urge you to consider Kauai, because it is by far the most beautiful, and the most laid back. There are countless things to do, from hanging at the beach, surfing, hiking, etc etc.
Thank you again Michelle and Serafin, you were the perfect hosts, and I will be sure to come back and stay with you the next time I am blessed enough to venture back to your beautiful island!
Michelle and her husband were very gracious hosts. They make you feel welcome. It's right up from the beach, Smith's and the Fern Grotto, and the Falls. It is a good home base spot to rest when travelling north around the island. Room was spacious and clean with sliding glass doors to the outside.
It was great staying at Michelle at Serafin place. The place is wonderful and they are unbelievable nice. Thanks a lot!!

We are Michelle and Serafin, we are empty nesters, looking to meet people who love to travel and share our beautiful island. I was raised on Oahu until I was 10 years old, then went to boarding school in London, England to study classical ballet, Serafin was raised in LA, moved to Kauai in 1972 and has made Kauai his home ever since. We look forward to meeting you soon, come share our aloha.
