About this listing
Hi there! I am excited to be renting my entire 2-bedroom apartment on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, New York City while I am out of town for a few days. The apartment is a 2-bedroom with the rooms on opposite sides, so there is plenty of privacy. One bedroom is bright, airy, and has access to a fire escape (for anyone who smokes...). The other bedroom is a bit darker and quieter. There is also a futon in the living room that folds out to sleep two. The kitchen (and "bar") is fully equipped (and almost always fully stocked) and you are more than welcome to use anything you find to cook yourself a wonderful dinner or just to grab coffee on your way out for sightseeing.
I am a very easy-going bartender in the city. I love meeting new people and consider myself a sort of "ambassador" of my city. I have lived here for nearly 3 years - long enough to have some insight, but still new enough to enjoy the sights and offer any advice to travelers. I will be out of town during the stay, but will be available by phone for any questions that may arise during your stay.
The neighborhood is great - tons of things to do but still on a quiet block so you can relax after a long day of sightseeing. Below are just a few of the many sights to see nearby my apartment:
-2 blocks from Central Park
-1 block from St. John's Cathedral
-Apollo Theatre in Harlem
-New York Ballet
These are just a few of the many sights that are all either within walking distance or only a few subway stops. I am located 2 blocks away from the 1, B, and C trains which all connect to express lines making it very easy to get anywhere in the city.
I can't wait to hear from you and am happy to answer any questions about the apartment or neighborhood, or New York in general!
I am a fairly laid back person and am pretty open to a lot of things. That being said, I just ask that you use common sense and courtesy when staying in my apartment.
*I do not mind if you smoke while staying here, but please step out onto the fire escape, which is easily accessible from your bedroom.
Emily's place was amazing. So well organized and decorated to make it perfect as an AirBnb place. My kids loved the chalkboard wall.
Emily made us feel very welcome in her home and the city. Her apartment was in a great location on the Upper West Side, close to the Columbia and Barnard campuses. We were charmed by the eclectic decor, and Emily really went out of her way to provide information about things to do in the city. She was very responsive to texts and phone calls during our stay. Future guests should know that the apartment is a fifth-floor walk-up, and that it would most comfortably accommodate five or fewer people. We were six and it was a little bit tight. Free street parking was available, but read the signs carefully for street cleaning hours. In closing, this apartment made it possible for the whole family to enjoy our daughter's college graduation.
Emily was an amazing host. Her home is very comfortable and it is just as she describes it. I never met her, but every time I contacted her she responded right away. She was very friendly and helpful. The house is conveniently located near the heart of NYC and it was very easy to get around. She has a book by the night stand with instructions for the house and recommendations around the area. Make sure you read it!!! I absolutely recommend her home.
Emily's place is exactly as advertised. Close to the subway, to central park, confortable for 6, and decorated with style. Even parking was easy ! I would recommend without a doubt !
Emily's place was amazing, and in a great location (super close to Central Park). The apartment was super clean and she made sure to have clean towels/sheets. Emily is such a great host and super accommodating, my parents loved the decor and how cute everything was.
Only thing to keep in mind is that the apartment is on the 5th floor, with no elevator. It was a heavy workout for my parents and aunt, but they didn't mind it once they got to the place and were able to rest on comfortable beds.

About the Host, Emily
Hey there! I am Emily and I have been living in New York for nearly 5 years. I am from Memphis, Tennessee so I love all things Southern (whiskey, whisky, bourbon...). I think being from another area of the country also allows me to open my mind to this crazy city I live in and appreciate all the little things.
I am an events coordinator for 3 restaurants in the city and have big love for the food industry. I can help you find the best restaurants to eat while you're here - just ask!
I love to travel, but because I live in (as my mother often reminds me) "the world's most expensive city," I don't get to as much as I'd like. I love airbnb because it offers me the chance to meet you lovely people so at least if I'm not traveling, I can live vicariously through you.
